“If Iridescence is chaos then this is clarity” like that’s the type of analysis that I couldn’t see any other reactor giving
that was so on point. sometimes Jon has such a way with words, he conveys ideas in such a simple and efficient way.
Having listened to the album a couple times and reading this before watching his reaction, holy shit that is an amazing statement
Teddy Andrew it’s great but it’s actually the analysis you see everywhere not hating just stating
Jared Rice still this was prob the earliest full album reaction with this amount of detail so I’m praising his ability to catch larger concepts like that earlier than his peers. Cuz when he was recording this a frame of reference/popular opinions didn’t exist
I was just about to say something like that holy shit what a line
Brockhampton era on Jon Denton's channel will go down as one of the best weeks in history
Yup, I've been looking forward to his video every day this week lol. Kinda sad its over tbh.
Brockhampton album and new Vince Staples within 12 hours of each other is historic... Smiling on the train like a fucking idiot and I love it
tru
he really spoiled us

Shoutout bro for your work all week 🔥🔥🔥
Dearly departed is the best song they've made imo
Wka W nigga every single song on all of the saturations are better than that. Saturation trilogy is their prime no cap
@@seanosullivan4935 you're on crack
The goat of time stamps back at it again
Feel like people don’t understand the story of GINGER. This is how I perceive it, maybe this album just hits home for me idk.
They come into the album knowing there is something wrong, but aren’t sure how to express this feeling. They try to hide from it, shown in BOY BYE, but to no avail (Negative lyrics shown in a positive light).
The slowthai track represents them doing drugs/alcohol (Kevin talks about doing drugs in ARIZONA BABY) to hide from their true feelings. St Percy and IYPR proceeds to represent the band as drunk, goofy, angry (video for IYPR). The drugs “wear” off in the second half of IYPR, leaving them in a hungover state. Kevin beats himself up wondering why is he doing this to himself, leading up to DEARLY DEPARTED where they let everything out.
The rest of the album is accepting what has happened and who they are now, realising that everyone has problems moving on.
This channel has been the best part of my week. Thank you prophet.
Jesus man, you reacted to Brockhampton’s whole discography in less than a week!
You’re crazy.
@Colby S the only stuff matters imo. Pretty easy to ignore earlier stuff
@Colby S Cannon gets slept on like crazy too
Dirt and Cannon is where BH peaked
(joking but those are two seriously underrated songs)
@@andreaswong8829 he's heard both individually so it's all good
@@nialllyden523 theyre not bad but i feel as if u can move past em is all. I dont listen to em personally
I think Merlyns verse on If You Pray Right was aimed at skepta, apparently he asked skepta for a feature on iridesence (merlyn was a big fan + they were recording on london, i think it was going to be on 'where the cash at' which would explain why it ended up being so short) and something happened where it didnt come through. Skepta's next album used the same thermal cam on the album cover that iridesence did, which would explain the first 2 lines of merlyns verse. Also in the music video for IFPR Merlyn uses a LOT of the same gestures and facial expressions that were on skeptas album cover
money kenny you right the verse is obviously about skepta. genius is on some wack shit. there’s no way merlyn’s gestures lining up like that is just a coincidence
@@nicksimons7391 yeah ikr! Like obv there are a lot of moments on this album about ameer, but that was just clearly not one of them hahah, blame the genius editors who think that EVERYTHING they say is about ameer
Yeah genius had no clue
I mean, Skepta kinda deserved the diss a bit there, because I thought it was a bit sus with his latest album and having the iridescent features after Brockhampton
Damn Skepta wouldve been perfect on wtca
Dude my face lit up and my jaw dropped when I heard slowthai
Bro I double checked that I was listening to the right song
Scott Elliot fr it caught me so off guard i thought that whole album was turned off and another album started playing
the phrase I'd use to describe this album is "reluctantly cathartic"
this album was a true work of art
Apparently Merlyn's verse on IYPR was aimed at Skepta for potentially copying the iridescence style for his album cover, as they wanted him to feature on the album but he didn't end up doing so. Also, in the music video Merlyn poses in ways very similar to those seen on Skepta's album cover. This is only something I read but it all adds up
Oh yeah that makes sense
Sad to see Brockhampton szn over, thankyou for the journey and the grind jd, loved it all 🔥
victor roberts deserved so much more recognition. i’ve talked to victor many times and i’m actually meeting him this weekend. so many people skip his track but that dude has gone through so much and deserves so much more than what people give him from his solo track.
Jon out here doing five albums in a week. Thank you, Jon.
After that Album i wished BH would hug me, or just somebody it leaves you with such a Smooth and loved Feeling idk if its just me but i felt like on iredidesince they let out all their Frustration and Problems in a more darker and harder way and this Album is like the calm After the Storm like they realised that life just has Problems and that speaking to others is a good solution for Feeling better like through all their Albums its like they told a life Story and this Album is like "yeah this is me/us"
dearly departed is doms greatest verse. that was a lot of emotion. i was blown away by that track and still am.
Dearly Departed may be brockhamptons best song ever
Edit: I guess I should clarify, it may be the best purely based on how impacted I was by the verses. Some of their other songs are better musically though I would agree
Definitely doms hardest verse. So much fuck you in his voice
I get everyone is trying to have the most hipster opinion but cmon dog
I disagree. Junky and Bleach are right there. And Sugar is perfection.
aja3longhorn please don’t be that guy. There’s sooooooo many people there’s bound to be those with differing opinions
aja3longhorn “hipster opinion” ok bro lol
ST. PERCY Is something else, man. Absolute banger!
The metronome leak is super annoying though
Agree
@@weloc i feel like it adds to the song thas just me though
@@weloc The metronome leak is fucking awesome
THE HYPE FOR THIS VIDEO IS UNREAL!!!! THANKS FOR ALL THE GREAT WORK THIS WEEK JON KEEP IT UP!!! (also can we get death grips soon ILY)
Merlyn has some outstanding verses sprinkled throughout all of the bands albums. For example: milk, swim, Tonya, if you pray right... I think they get overlooked sometimes because he usually is the hype man, just going crazy. Never heard you discuss a Merlyn verse Jon
Your work ethic is unmatched!! Cheers!
You’re killing it dude. Your taste has evolved so much
I knewwwww you were gonna love dearly departed that dom verse is something else
we have now hit the end of brockhampton szn. so now it’s valid for me to ask... veteran reaction?
Great review! Sugar was my fave from the album hands down
did he not do an iridescence reaction, or was it taken down?
Oh maybe it got blocked? I’ll check
@@JonDenton oh shit this vid is so old i never thought you'd reply :o hardest working channel in the game!!
but nah actually when I started my own brockhampton season a few weeks back I swear I saw you'd done iridescence, so must've been blocked :'(
@@JonDenton please try reuploading it😭
Do Arizona Baby! It deserves it.
NOTI SQUAD. I adored this album, can't wait to see what you think
Sugar and the Slowthai feature were the highlights to me
Sugar was my least favorite song on the album just bc it sound so much like basic pop imo
@@LilShrooms I agree with it being very pop, I disagree with it being basic. Beautiful song structure and production elements.
As someone who was slightly disappointed in first hearing this record, your reaction has helped me somewhat understand it and grasp the clarity of it
Wait. I just realized HEAVEN BELONGS TO YOU and IF YOU PRAY RIGHT have the same beat. I'm slow
Can't believe we're finally here. Brockhampton season has given me something to look forward to daily, so proud of you my dude.
When this album came out I was at my cousins I went downstairs to find him sitting with it playing we went straight back to the beginning and just listened we got to Saint Percy when my sister came down , we listened up to boy bye and got in the car on an 3 and a half hour car journey . Listening to it on the way there and the amount of memories I have with the albumn , from the first three and ginger bring the songs I listened to all summer love me for life and saint Percy together in autumn and finally victor roberts in December this album is beautiful it helped me through so much
Don't get me wrong, I like Simon but you were always my favorite part of Rock Reacts and I watched since your second or third month as a channel. Your wonderful reactions to the Brockhampton and Kendrick albums(admittedly the only I've seen on your personal channel) are fantastic watches. I sincerely hope you keep this channel going because I thoroughly enjoy your opinions and insights on music. There's only one other music reviewer/reactor that I watch. I don't want to be one of those people who spams your comments with reaction suggestions(I think I left just one on all of the Rock Reacts channel), but I'd eagerly suggest you listen to Royalty by Childish Gambino. If you've already heard it, I get it. But it has some of his best bars and most introspective lyrics as well as some relatively early features from artists such as Danny Brown, Chance the Rapper(pre-Acid Rap), and Nipsey Hustle. There's also a couple Wu Tang features and Bun B for good measure. If you haven't heard it, it's my favorite Childish Gambino project even though I recognize Because The Internet as his best in an objective sense.
Also, Sat II=Iridescence>Sat 1>Ginger>Sat 3 and I haven't heard All American Trash yet. Also Kevin Abstract's Arizona Baby is a good album but not quite as good as his work with Brockhampton. Like you, I stan Dom.
(Sorry, I'm very drunk right now)
yeah you fr must be drunk placing sat III last
@@weloc Back half is kinda weak comparatively 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
I actually learn so much from these. The commentary is so insightful.
Keep up the good work Jon, loving this album 🔥
Thought it was average when I first listened to it but after my 5th listen it's my favourite BH album to date
Dom's verse killed me. I didn't even listen to IBBA.
Sugar is one of the best songs of 2019
interesting, I liked most of the other songs more. But it‘s good that people have different tastes
COPS such a craig David 2000s vibe to it something that r&b doesn’t really capture anymore
COPS FACTS
Life was good when this came out and this album is a classic
bro you fast. love this album and your channel. keep it up bruh
This has been the best week thanks to you JD! No one works as hard as the Prophet💪🏼 You have to check out Kevin Abstract’s ‘Arizona Baby’ next!
React to run the jewels trilogy...is exactly what you will like I’m sure !! At least the 3rd albumm..is the best..killer mike is a legend
sadly hes already heard them off cam. iirc watching a reaction to rtj is what made him want to start a reaction channel
Great season Proph
The next time you do one of these I'd recommend Tyler, the Creator (at least the albums before Flower Boy, given that you've listened to that and IGOR already)
I feel like they pulled a YOTS with this album, with how a lot of the singles seemed underwhelming, but in context with the rest of the album, they worked perfectly
yoo thank you for all these reactions man great job
finished my second full listen today and it made me appreciate the album so much more. at first there was like 3 or 4 i really liked with the rest average but after my second listen i realized how amazing the album as a whole was. great reaction and can’t wait for more.
JD i don’t know if you’ve seen me comment before. I’m writing this before I watch your reaction but this Ginger album is special... keep doing your thing
that sounded weird.. this is my comment, GINGER IS FUCKING IT. FUCKING CRAZY.
man boy bye sugar and St. percy had HELLA bounce and energy, they definitely focused on the slower more laid-back side but it's not like the first few tracks were a slow ride up by any means
🗣The only reaction channel I watch now due to the dedication and passion for music
Holy shit i’ve listened through this album 6 times today
dearly departed forever my favorite
I just listening to this album cuz i've listen to some of the songs in it and i think it's worth to fully listen to the album, and it's right. The album is so amazing and dearly departed is fr my fav and maybe its my fav song of all time
Im a fan of yours for life now. u said Deftones White Pony!!! my favorite album of all time
Did not expect this that quick my man after the grind you've been on
Have to say as well JD that if you keep up this standard of thoughtful, considered, genuine analysis for the rest of your videos, you’ll become one of the biggest reactors on this site. I mean that sincerely, what a fantastic set of vids 👍
Thank you man 🙏
Love how you Let the music ride and you really get into it, keep up the good content and reaction sincerely a new subscriber
Big boy had me in tears man
You should sum up your favorite tracks through out all the songs from all albums!
Dude, is that an Ippo shirt I see?!?!
Jon Denton: The TRUE Hardest Working Channel in the Game.
BROCKHAMPTON is definitely my favorite artists right now
Yo I’m from Northwest London and I watched the whole whole video, and I searched for another reaction video after Shawn Cee’s for another perspective /understanding and I got one . I’m a new subscriber and I’m gonna watch all your videos where you have reacted to music I enjoy so you may see me around , keep up the good work
Ahh I love your channel. You love the same elements I do in many of your reviews and bring up great points. But you also challenge and frustrate me sometimes when you listen to most my favorite songs you don't care for em (like sugar or big boy which was probablymy 2 fav on the album. So its always a love, hate, tug of war type of discussion within me while watching yo videos, but thats what opinions are for.. Which keeps me coming back, cause I agree with the perspectives you give and hear stuff I never heard before but I overall love your analysis on music. Much love and good vibes to ya brotha.
I feel like Heaven Belongs to You is intertwined with If You Pray Right- similar beat and same “break the law” sample- and slowthai is coming in to act as the precursor to that track. That’s why i think Heaven Belongs to You is so short.
Faces by mac Miller and DiCaprio 2 by JID
brockhampton should have used more bearface vocals as they did on this album, some of my favourite tracks of theirs are because of him
When's Jon doing the entire Death Grips discography? I think it's about time.
This is my favorite album ever 💿 something about this album is just special sooooo good especially dearly departed 😥
Came to watch the iridescent reaction since I watched all three saturations, I get to your channel and the fucking ginger reaction literally just got posted. Iridescent is going to have to wait :)
Great work on the season!
Other albums out today that you might want to react to:
Rapsody - Eve
Jidenna - 85 to Africa
New Rapsody album letsgo
I think the album cover is a photo from when they were in Oslo, Norway. Definitely from their most recent Europe tour though.
Brockhampton should’ve flown you out to see Friday Therapy what the heck. Still, I’m glad because that didn’t happen you’ve been able to give us your great reflection on this album.
You made my week, ty JD
Finally got around to watching this reactuon BH week has been crazy and i love the new album so much boutta grab some popcorn and settle in to the hardest working channel in the game react to some Fiyahh
Was just about to listen to it when I got the notification
10:29
Driving the school bus is about to be the new dance move
Arizona Baby?
with everything Kevin has said about Ameer, im shocked he let Dom diss Ameer on that song
Love this dedication
album was so good, gives me saturation 2 vibes a little
Ive listened to this album like 4 times and i absolutely love it
Brockhampton season = best season ahah, you should react to Flatbush Zombies - Better Off Dead album, I have a feeling you would like it
I would recommend listening to Kevin Abstract's solo work. American boyfriend is an all time favorite of mine.
Please react to all of Death Grips' discography
Need the Isaiah Rashad reaction, he dropping a new album soon
Check out injury reserve if you want another example of brockhampton/odd future type stuff
They're not exactly the same but just as good imo and they got the same chemistry and artistry
Dom smashed his headphones after the verse on dearly departed. (And yes they did break)
Jonny boi you should check out SYRE and/or ERYS by Jaden, two very unique sounding conceptual-ish projects, like a movie in album form
Also this album is so much more focused than iridescence but that does kinda reflect what was happening behind the scenes like you said
The Weeknd Trilogy reaction !!!
I miss saturation brockhampton, they got wayyyyy less hip hop
Luckily you can still listen to the trilogy
Vince staples season?
idk to me it seems he is releasing these songs through his show because they are not "album worthy"
KingKendrick nah dude I think the show is just a build up to his album
@@marcusedu5825 that's also possible
This past week we’ve watched Jon become a Brockhampton fan
16:49 when the head too good
I love you John man your on the grind and it’ll definitely pay off eventually, I’d love to see a Mac Miller season sometime this year 👀I’ll keep my fingers crossed but thank you for even bothering to do this, it shows the real love you have for hip hop now, I’m glad I was here from the start and I’ll be here for however long you plan to continue.
Jon it's been pretty cool to see you react to the boys. Now if you want u can check my guitar covers of them lol
Now you have to react to Kevin's solo projects (excluding MTV 1987 he's kinda disowned that)
Mac Miller SZN next please!!!!
Danny Brown next
Bro you would dig Saint Jhn’s new album!! He should be getting respect for being 1 of the most creative artists in the game right now
Ypu should watch some of their interviews, especially the Sway and Genius ones.
Ahhhh can we get a deathgrips week next?
You should check out the group 99 neighbors. They have rappers and singers too and they’re good
