Thanks so much Carl I really appreciate it! For the 'mums' I can't seem to do them on a scales in pitch unless I'm followin a piano (although with lip rolls I can keep them in pitch without a piano). I've also been working on my chest and head voice, so I can feel a bit of release but I'm still working towards getting not pulling chest. Anyway, Carl I really appreciate this video. Thank u so much!
I have been learning to sing using the various free youtube singing videos for the last 6 months. For the first 3 months i was using videos other than yours since I just started and have no ideas about the quality of singing instructions available on youtube. For the last 3 months I have mainly concentrated on your videos and basically i am now able to the do the various "MUM" "NEY" "UH" and squeezing and compression exercises confidently (and i believed more or less competently). I am thankful to you for the videos. When i started learning i could not sing a complete song properly but now am able to sing more than 20 songs and still learning to sing new songs. I am writing to you to ask your advice on what should i do now. Should I continue with your exercises or should i start to learn something else. I have started learning vocal fry exercises hoping that i can improve my low notes since i feel that you have not given much attention to the low notes.
Ive made a deal with myself for a week ago that I would Do the exercises everyday and try to focus on them jaw Down and not too much pushing just relax and many order things its been good I feel my range getting better and my tension is going away in my High headvoice ps could hit a clear A4 and almost b4 in mix It was Nice my falsetto/falset headvoice is still kinda low its on f5 ive been singing for a year and done exercises many times but not enough after my opinion in this year
i found exactly this dopey sound and the feeling of pressing in one time and i used so much less effort than I did. I was so happy when I found it but then I did it for 3 scales and then afterwards I started to lose the coordination and ever since ive been trying to find it again. Im going to use your tips and hopefully it helps me find it.
It can be easy to forget things, I went through times where I was singing freely and then a few months later realized I was pulling chest again, it's very frustrating at times!
I can hear the release but can't make it... :/ I tried yawn, works only until D4.. Anything after that starts to squeeze! :'( If I relax fully, then I flip to a very "skinny" sound of very week falseto but with no 'breathiness' in the sound~ And with that sound I can 'travel' till C5~ But isn't that worthless if it doesn't have possibilities for 'expanding' the sound? Any ideas maestro?? :}
learning to hold on and let go at the same time is the key to free singing, it's not worthless more than likely you need to add presence to that airy sound exactly where it is, feels awkward and unnatural at first but full voice sits in exactly the same place as that air falsetto.
That is what I suspected...! It started of as a 'squick' & now sounds louder and clean. (not solid like a mix voice though) E4-C5+2-3 notes more is the range of that sound. Can I send you an email of a recording so you tell me for sure if I must continue developing 'that' sound or keep on "looking" for my head voice~ THANK you for taking the time to reply me Carl!!!
Thank you very much. I would appreciate some ideas about doing lip rolls in 5th octave. I start to squeeze from D5 and I have no idea what am I doing wrong. Could you give us few pointers? Something like how you feel the voice shifts, where do you feel it resonate, do you "shoot" the sound backwards, do you need less air for those notes, is your breathing system working harder for them?
In my opinion for dudes like me who tend to squeeze too much it can feel almost like being disconnected. That's why I was asking you for some advices... You might think 5th octave is for nothing. Well my favourite genre is filled with those notes (like every single song goes up there in the chorus) and sooner or later everybody has to start working on them.
Hi there, just a quick question.. I have a problem with my head voice, when i tend to use it at a very low note (not sure about the term i'm using, i'm a noob) it goes off or sound smoky (just air) and breaks, i use to do it perfectly well now its all weak but in higher notes it sounds fine.. I went to see a doctor and there is nothing on my vocal chord, what should i do? Thank you
What do yoi say about frank ocean, I'd really love to hear your analysis on his voice, I really love his timbre and I wo der if it's just a natural talent or if the trainingalso worked on his timbre (sorry for my bad english, hope you understand everything)

:) no stream today but have videos, I'll be back streaming next week.
Feels like gagging to me more than a yawn. Either way, great advice!

Tough up there, got to squeeze in just the right way
