Yarn: Lion Brand Heartland (100%
acrylic; 251 yd [230 m]/142 g): #136-125
Mammoth Cave, 8 skeins.
Feel free to use any worsted weight (#4) yarn of your choice.
HOOKS
Size K/10.5 (6.5 mm).
FINISHED DIMENSIONS
: Approx. 31" (79 cm) from top of collar to
bottom of poncho; 40" (101.5 cm) side to
side at widest point.

I just finished making this poncho, and it is gorgeous! What a beautiful pattern! Not only does it look beautiful, but it feels beautiful too! I used Cloudborn Super Merino worsted in a color similar to yours. I think I bought that yarn a few years ago for a sweater I was going to make. Hi Bonnie, That is one of the prettiest poncho I've seen. Ponchos was my go-to in the 70s. I really like using heartland yarn. I just wish they had more colors. Appreciate all of your videos!! 👍🏼🤗

My mother in law is a 3X in most tops, is there a way to increase to make it fit her?
I would recommend upsizing you hook and perhaps the yarn if needed. The neck opening is very generous and accommodates a variety of sizes. As long as your gauge isn't smaller (or too tight), I think you should be fine.
