Great video, thanks! My brother and I and a buddy hunt public land exclusively and we all have Lone Wolf Alpha Hang on stands...so it was great to find this video today. I like the mods you recommended and have done some of my own so will comment briefly in case it helps anyone. First...the easy hang hook is great and takes some of the risk out of the equation when you are hanging the stand in the tree..I agree totally with your comments or approach. I like the idea of using rope wrapped around the front edge of the stand. In the past I've used Camo Form self clinging tape which works well to soften and quiet down that leading edge, but it wears out after a season or two. But that tape works well in general for anything you need or want to tape/quiet down..it's kind of like an ace bandage material...flexes and there's no glue/adhesive, etc....would highly recommend...I've found it the cheapest on eBay...much less Vs retail stores. I am usually carrying a backpack which means the stand is usually being carried in my hand when I go out to hunt. I put camo form tape around the middle outer edge area of the stand platform where you would carry it in your hand, to reduce the affect from the cold....works pretty well. I like the bungy cord idea on the bow pull up rope...this year I started using gear ties instead of a carabiner on the bow pull up rope....they work very well, are flexible yet strong, and they take the noisy metal out of the equation....no noise at all...would highly recommend. I use a 12" gear tie, bent in half, then twist is several times to form a small loop at one end for attaching the rope. Then the remaining length of both ties is used to twist around your cam or whatever part of the bow you want to attach it to...so far so good...and they are inexpensive. My brother and I hunt far in so we often just bury the stand under some brush and then grab and go when we hunt. I'm impressed with how well these stands have held up given the exposure to the elements, year after year. And whenever I want to replace any of the bolts or buy accessories, I've had great luck calling Lone Wolf and getting help with what I needed. Not affiliated with Lone Wolf....just a happy customer. Also....we have found that those hook and straps used for hanging the stand also work very well with the Summit Trophy Chair, for ground hunting. Not sure if they still make that chair, but would recommend using the Lone Wolf hook and strap with it as one easy, effective way to hunt from the ground. Thanks again for the great video and good hunting!
Good mods. I used to use the camo cloth tape too, but it would get gummy and sticky after a couple seasons. Since I switched to the stealth strips the material has held together much better. I've also tried gluing thicker felt onto buckles, and putting bicycle inner tubing over them. Both work well, though the rubber has started to break down after about three seasons.
Yes there are a bunch of different ways to quite down a stand unfortunately none of them seem to last more than a few seasons. the rope will hold up for awhile but you can't put that everywhere.. we have a few things were going to try this winter that won't wear out..
Well thought out well delivered concise and good info but don’t like music on hunting video. Nature sounds are one of the many things I enjoy about bow hunting deer.
just an observstion sir, but you have your strap wrong! when using the easy hang hook, always, always put the strap around the TOP versa button, not the bottom one. The bottom one is only used when using two straps and no easy hang hook. Not busting your chops I did the same thing a couple times, but it's a big mistake.
Try Yak Grips Kayak grips. Camo. Cut in half they fit over the buckles on your sticks perfect. Completely silent. Cribbed from Traditional Bow Hunter on yourube
I'm torn between the alpha and assault right now. I walk long distances through thick stuff where I hunt so I like the smaller size of the assault. But I also like the idea of the wider platform in the back of the alpha for easier shots behind the tree. I've also heard that the alpha could possibly catch on more brush and things on the way in and out which could result in alerting deer. I need to be as efficient and quiet as possible because I normally hunt close to bedding areas. Not sure if you've had the chance to use an alpha or not but could you give me an opinion on which would be the better choice? I've been leaning towards the assault but you get quite a bit more stand with the alpha for only $10 more.
I had both i sold the alpha.. The alpha is 3 pounds heavier and you do notice it.. one advantage to the narrow platform on the assault is that it fits in spots the alpha won't.. The alpha is bigger and is going to catch on more stuff walking through the thick brush.. We use our assault hang on 90% of the time.. I have a Hand climber that i like using when i can but it doesn't see much use.. hands down i would go with the Assault, check out the EZ hang hook we really like them to but the batwing that comes with it works good to.. Amazon has one for $176..
Public Land Hunters I think the assault is what I'll go with then. I'm pretty small so it sounds like the better choice for me. I've heard good things about the ez hang so I'll probably get one too. I never thought to look on Amazon. That's a great deal and I even have a gift card to use up on Amazon. You definitely just saved me some money. Thanks for the detailed answer and keep up the great vids!
No prob.. If your looking to get shoulder straps I would buy a "Quake Claw Sling" durable all rubber, your sweat from your pits don't get absorbs into the strap and they seem very durable.. $23 each.. midwayusa.com
*It was a great stand>>>**ur2.pl/923** he used it through 3 hunting seasons. It was very durable and easy to put together. Great system for carrying it through the woods. It was safe and sturdy. I would definitely recommend this for anyone in need of a new stand. Since his was stolen I will probably be buying a new one before next archery season. My only recommendation would be for summit to add a lock to their stands so it's harder for someone to steal!*
I am considering getting one of these systems. Is it difficult to get use to (setting up/taking down in the dark)? Also, I have a Lone Wolf sit and climb, what is the benefit to getting this set up for a second stand?
ua-cam.com/video/geYxaTjvXvc/v-deo.html Hang on you can put in any tree.. It does take some getting used to getting set up and taking down.. maybe find someone that has sticks and stand and try it before you buy it..
I use my lone wolf climber with screw in or strap on steps works great. Sometimes i just go in with seat of hand climber hangs fast great in pines. But i shooting sitting more stable and safer finger shooting compound at 63 yrs. Thanks for the tips...we'll have to look at the gear ties.

I have had one of my lone wolf hand on stands since 1991! So, the value is really there!

How many feet of cord did it take to wrap the front of the stand like that?
Keep in mind, the rope you guys wrap around your stands hold scent...
That's what I was thinking. I use a "gear hoist" from HSS. Gets the job done
So do my balls. A pungent aromatic scent. Still kill whitetail, and kept my balls as well
I’m with smelly balls. If it doesn’t grow in whitetail habitats it’s foreign to deer That’s why we try to beat their nose in stands or saddles
I like lone wolf tree stands but my back kills me up against the tree I prefer millennium with fold out seat
You are genius, sir! Thanks for sharing.
Haha thanks Daniel.. Only my son calls me that.. But thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed watching the vid...
I just bought the paracord and bungee material and in the works making my stand just like yours. Subscribed! Great videos. Thanks again.

you may not be sponsored but it sure as hell sounds like your fishing for a stand
Bro bow hunters today go so far out of their way with stands lol. Its weird
Like those stands, but man I love my naps in my climbers and I know I won't fall out of them lol.
I relate but fuck. I’ve had climbers fall on me. Can’t happen with hang on. When I’m 25 ft high I appreciate a strap
For that top strap with the hook on it to hang your stand on does that take place of your top strap or do you still need to use a top strap also?
yes easy hang takes its place.
Oh Ok I could not figure it out. Thank you!
If you use that easy hang system do you have to keep bat wing off?
Steven Hicks yes

How did you attach the gun slings?
I actually now use Quake claw sling.. check out the link below.. zombieonastick21.. they loop through the stand
rifle slings,,,sharp thinking
you rock!
