Sometimes when i look at SOUTH African current musician crop I wonder if this all round performers will ever be reincarnated in them.. the ability to do a great live performances playing with words and instruments.. the art of tone and volume of a voice ..emotions evoking storytelling so profound.. the kinda artists whom are for the art itself rather than msking money as quick as they can..
Awesomeness classic timeless and ageless as the Giant Bra Hugh was unbelievable that he is no more May his beautiful soul RIP whilst we remain in awe of his profound music and songs.
It is very sad that so many brilliant African musicians go unnoticed . I saw Hugh Masakela in Perth about a decade ago. Had a bunch of brilliant young musicians playing with him. He performed Stimela then. Very powerful story. It remains one of my all time favourite gigs.
Rest in heavenly peace. Your music spoke volumes throughout races, genders and ages groups. Your music spoke of men and women who were marginalized who were subjected to exploitation pushed aside through racism and made to feel inferior through the circumstances and ethnic backgrounds. Your message will forever resonate in our hearts as people and ofcourse as Africans.
You did send me a video titled "You are going to die alone. You are a red pill woman" then blocked me from commenting for some time. Call me what you will - I will NOT be silenced!

Toronto Star: I hope you don't consider that Holocaust video I have just watch - business settled. Hardly - you should be just be beginning! To stop this from happening again you (especially the media whose job is checks and balances), must be honest with yourselves and dig in and report on what went wrong and why. Especially here in Canada, again let me say it again, CANADA. 1. how did this happen 2. Why did this happen 3. When did government know 4. Why government chose silencing through torture and denial as an approach and solution they too are responsible of not doing their job properly and not stopping this the moment they knew. Instead they endorsed all forms of the escalating torture. It got more cruel and shamesless after it was clear the entire world of leaders had heard of me and my son. Not better!
He will be sorely missed!! Glad I caught him at the New Orleans JazzFest about 20 years ago.
I still can't get over this song, even after listening to it a hundred times
Musically themed poetry. A brother talent. I salute you.
