  • Bearings come in a number of forms and sizes. Fortunately, a specific bearing can be identified using a ball bearing part numbering system.
Watch the video to learn more about this system, then visit the Emerson website to see some examples of the different bearing types available:

This is both an incredibly informative and unintentionally homoerotic video. Thanks for the knowledge and the laughs.

What a really nice understanding of the basic numbers a bearing shares say to order the bearings in piece or matched sets there are additional numbers markings from manufacturing on the bearing races and we found this information as well together we know really know our bearings well as machine tool bearings, precision machine spindles.
We are very happy with your provided information. We just learned about the NU style series that on is new to us and you are sharing them as well.
    Thank you.
    Lance & Patrick.

I'm a 1st year industrial Mechanic Millwright and this video helped me alot. Question the guy said their is 2 types of bearings roller and ball. Isn't their journal bearings too I'm not 100% sure isn't roller bearings called friction bearing and plain/frictionless bearings are journal bearings? I assume this video is only talking about roller element bearings.

Very interesting video I`v worked with many of those bearings you described. Kohler uses the 6300 series bearings on their small engine crankshafts ,and I replaced my washer tub bearings witch are standard 6205 , Antique Hunter ceiling fans use a sleeve bearing for radial loads and a axial thrust ball bearing at the bottom both bathed in a oil cup above the control switch

I am trying to create an aluminum disc that spins eccentrically. If I have an aluminum disc, will an eccentric bearing placed in the center result in off-center rotation? That's what I'm after.

Very good video but for people who use bearings.I would like to mention a detail, The first digit in the series 6000, 6200,6800, etc. Indicates that the bearings are single row.

+Mattias Matsson Not really, no side views, lots of out of frame "shots"(or is that not shots?) no editing or reshooting to fix those problems, and no text to reinforce the descriptions. No links to each type of bearing, history of bearings, etc. I mean it was watchable, but very low information, especially for a manufacturer or supplier. Just my humble opinion as a mechanic and machinist that uses bearings every day.

And the best thing is, that almost all bearings follow the metric system, not these weird imperial units.
