I was lucky to get both of these shoes early. They are both amazing and I would recommend buying both if you are able. I actually wore the Zens today and had a big smile the entire run. The jury is still out on which I like better but honestly dont care. I will buy more of both as needed!
So far the neo zen is absolutely brilliant for my recovery runs days , when I just want to do a run and relax at the same time and not thing of pushing it that shoe is just perfect
Neo Zen has been my go to for everything. So fun. I typically use plated shoes for workouts/speed, so everything else the Zen has been the best experience ever
I love both shoes, I managed to get a pair of the Adidas last November in NYC and the Mizunos not too long ago. Something funny happens when I run in the Neo Zens, they tend to get me in trouble... my feet and shins get tender after I run and I imagine it's because of how bouncy they are, I tend to go faster than I should and only notice once I look at my pace/heart rate. I love them though they are a lot of fun and always look forward to running in them even if I get a bit of pain afterwards.
Funny, saw a review of the Neo Zen on the 'Road to Trail' channel and he absolutely hated it, saying its an unstable sponge. He loves the Evo SL. Goes to show you have to take shoe reviews with a grain of Himalayan salt.
As Robbe knows, the Topo Cyclone 2/3 is another great 150 dollar plateless shoe with race foam, with that fun feel that he talked about. It just doesn’t have that street/lifestyle look like these two lookers. Or the high stack. (On the plus side, much lighter weight.)
SB vs Evo SL. What a time to be running! So many amazing shoes. Even brands like Brooks that amazing at offering us ol' reliables, which in my opinion are still very much needed, they are also offering stuff like the well received Hyperion Elite 4 PB.
Lucky enough to find a sneaker store near me with the Evo SL in stock with my size. The shoe is my favorite daily trainer of all time. I did not think anything would ever dethrone the Triumph 20/21. The only thing I worry about is durability as I was able to take the T20/21 upwards of 600 miles and they still felt good
@@BelieveintherunMakes sense! I’m fairly new to running, just a few months actually, and don’t own that many shoes to begin with. So I wanted an all rounder that I can use for my daily runs and from the reviews of both I’ve watched from you guys, they’re both really good shoes that are pretty versatile. Overall which one would you recommend? This also honestly comes down to aesthetic for me and those are the two which I like the look of the best😅
The looks on the white adidas evo sl is on point (honestly I don't like the other colorways) and I will give this shoe a chance. I historically have a problem with the shoe fit with Adidas - only brand that irritates the sides in the ball of my feet so I'm sure that the Evo SL will again cause this problem. Last chance for Adidas...
So Adidas pushed back the Evo SL release in Europe from Feb 1st to March 20th (despite saying on their website that it will be Feb 1st) and gave a unannounced Feb 1st release to Canada and US. If I was in Europe I'd be not so happy. Of course most sizes in Canada are gone in less than a day.
Interested in your thoughts on which shoe might be more stable? I've heard that they're both less stable without plates but if someone was needing a little more structure, is one more stable than the other (maybe)??
I was pleasantly surprised to find an Evo SL on the shelves in a sports store. So far I think it’s my favorite running shoe of the year. That one and Novablast 5. I don’t think Neo Zen is the same thing despite the overlaps. I’d definitely get them both. One for easy runs and the Evo SL for tempo and long runs of varying speed. I would compare Neo Zen with Novablast 5.
I was not a big fan of the Neo Zen, it's a very spongy feeling shoe... It's light but it feels like a lot under foot. The Evo SL is a different category for me as a Speed Shoe, where the Neo Zen is just a Recovery Plodder.
Pretty fair comparison, though I don't think we'd put it in the "plodder" range, the light weight and bounce makes it a bit more versatile. EVO SL is definitely quicker though. To us, they both feel great underfoot, just in different ways.
yea totally disagree the neo zen can pick up the pace way better then you give it credit for in your video which you have admitted you are a running shoe snob on some of these things and i feel your snobbery shoes here with this shoe
@@karls8989 Understand that, but come on Buddy. That's harsh...:( We all know this is very individual what shoes work for us and which ones don't. Even stated that several times in my video. I'm quite positive on 95% of the shoes I buy and this one just didn't do it for me.

Great comparo, one advantage to Neo Zen, it’s available now and they’re not messing around with waiting lists, delayed drops, etc…

Hi. Excellent comparison. Like to Thomas and Robbe. Happy Monday.

Thomas, that black EVO SL with white stripes is identical to the OG Boston 7 colorway, which was one of my first good running shoes. It’s sharp!
I love it. Samba vibes too
For those with stability needs like myself who suffers from frequent ankle sprains do not use Evo SL for easy or recovery runs
Neo Zen I like.
Funny, saw a review of the Neo Zen on the 'Road to Trail' channel and he absolutely hated it, saying its an unstable sponge. He loves the Evo SL. Goes to show you have to take shoe reviews with a grain of Himalayan salt.
@@KaisersozzeHimalayan SEA salt to be even more specific 😂
@ Thats not a thing lol
What shoe would you recommend for temp days that are stable?
@ not sure. For tempo days I use adios pro 3.

The glycerin 22 is very good this time around, good time to be a runner
to me the Zen has a better upper in that in these winter grit months its warmer thank goodness. also on the snow the grip is better

Sounds like the Neo Zen is better for lighter runners.
1:06 It blows my mind that this shoe and also the original Novablast were originally considered not running shoes by their own designers!
Thoughts on Adidas Evo SL vs Nike Zoom Fly 6? I’ve been looking for a daily trainer and so far these have been my top 2 choices.
Totally different vibe. Evo SL is light with no plate. ZF6 firmer and more substantial underfoot. Both good, but it’s like comparing country to rap.
@@BelieveintherunMakes sense! I’m fairly new to running, just a few months actually, and don’t own that many shoes to begin with. Evo SL is firmer than the zoom fly 6. Fly 6 is also narrower if that matters to you. I think they are both good with the fly 6 being slightly softer.

What do you all have to say about those who state the continental on the EVO SL sucks?

The only change I would make on the EVO SL for the next version are those horrible Adidas shoe laces.
Did you guys just update your camera?
Evo SL is generational. It needs to be compared with the Epic React (never cared for), OG Novablast, or the OG Clifton.
You’re 100% correct
“I no longer need to design my own shoe because Adidas created the perfect shoe in the EVO SL for me” -Joe Carter
Prime X V1 goes back on your list of generational shoes.

The evo sl seems to take the place of the Boston 12, what does adidas do with the Boston now?
Different shoes. Boston 13 will compete with the Zoomfly 6 and other plated trainers aka Super Trainers.
They don't take the place. Two different feels.

Interestingly Adidas market EVO SL as a shoe you can wear casually. I actually dont like how Adidas’s sport style shoes feel on my feet.
Way too much stack IMO to be worn casually
I’ve read the same, bur seems like a waste of Lightstrike Pro to use it on a lifestyle shoe.
@@CMDV8N3 absolute waste and any performance oriented midsole is too soft/unstable to be walking around in as a lifestyle shoe.
Definitely not a casual walking around shoe. Their marketing team was smoking crack, sadly some reviewers just repeated their speil.

There’s a simple version that’s white with gray logos, looks pretty good to me.
