I have about 250 miles on the Evo SL. About 200 miles on the Speed 4’s. Evo SL hands down better. More comfortable. Lighter. Protects you more from ground impact. I have taken the Evo SL out on hill runs and the continental rubber has held great. The exposed foam has taken a hit but that’s completely normal. I don’t think the Evo SL is meant to last over 400ish miles but I believe that’s why the shoe only costs $150. I have found that I can hit my 10K/half marathon/marathon paces with ease in the Evo SL’s. In my opinion they are faster than the superblast 2’s, which is another shoe with super foam, and they’re much more comfortable as well. I would say this has been my favorite non carbon plated trainer by far. Only concern is durability as some other shoes can last up to 600 miles which is what I got out of my Superblast 2’s. Other than that, can’t wait for more colorways to drop in the Evo SL! 🔥 🏃🏻♂️
Would love if you guys did a list of shoes with the widest midfoot. So much focus on the toe box, the midfoot is really hard to find. Sometimes I feel like my only option is an Echelon
I would love that too...for opposite reason: no shoe ever narrow/low volume enough for me in the midfoot😂. Puma Deviate Nitro comes close. Somehow shoe reviews often when addressing width seem to talk only about toebox. I wonder if that is really where most people have issues (in which case it makes sense, even though it isn't the case for me). I would love a bit more attention on instep volume/midfoot width and arch geometry in general! Great point!
Sagasu running does compare midfoot widths when he talks about shoes. I have issues with midfoot too and I just skip eyelets and use the heel loop to keep the shoe loose.
I've run in and enjoyed both shoes as well. I gravitate towards the Evo SL more because it responds so well to whatever I'm running on a given day with it. And I love that - just being able to put on a shoe, and not have to really think about how it's going to respond to my run - what I want to do, it can do
I absolutely love the speed force I've always had the endorphin speeds for so long Great shoes never had a problem with reliability I can't wait to try the Evo so far I can't even get my hands on them but I'm looking forward to it
Matt - I'm thinking about the recent discussions about the benefits of training in non-plated shoes. Obviously, there's significant differences between nylon and carbon plates but I'm curious if even the nylon plate in the Speed 4 makes a difference in terms of the "spirit" of training in a non-plated shoe? I hope that makes sense.
Awesome job as usual from DoR!! If I have a superblast 2 for easy/long runs and a saucony endorphin pro 4 for hard efforts/race day, would the speed 4 be a good daily trainer? I prefer stiffer shoes, with good energy return and not a mushy feel. I also have some stability needs, mostly concerned to supination, since I land midfoot-ish and laterally. I feel the superblast 2 are a bit too mushy for daily training, but thats probably my fault, cuz I dont run fast enough for the foam to "work properly"... anyway, im looking to get another shoe to enter this rotation, something that's less plush/mushy than the superblast 2, and not as aggressive as the Pro 4.... thanks for taking the time to read!! ❤
Is the outsole on the Evo SL any different from the Adios Pro 2? I'm a forefoot striker and I burned through that by 200 miles. The smooth rubber doesn't hold up remotely as well as the rubber used on the Boston 12 or original Prime X, which still holding up at 767 miles.
Aaaaagh I was hoping evo sl could replace the speed 4s that have been great for faster track workouts for me, but doesn't seem to be the case :( still looking for a good replacer since the only bad side of speeds has been the durability....
I would like to push back on the Evo SL not being great on the track. I have used it many times for 400m or 800m repeats. It's sooo light weight, I think it works really well in those efforts.
I am definitely interested in the Evo SL, but I am put off by the drip feed availability before its release. It feels like by the time it hits the market they'll be doing limited sales of the Evo SL 2.
@ Lol, no worries, let’s face it, the phrase is accurate, and it’s gotta be a struggle to communicate the very small differences between so many of these shoes. For example, Boston 12, Speed 4, DV8 Nitro 3, Mach X2, Zoom Fly 6 all intended to do the same thing and they all do it very well, but with as you say “a little bit” of difference. So reality, I appreciate what you do, keep up the good work!
the evo sl is best shoe out there right now and its going to change the "daily trainer" market. If i were PUMA, Brooks, Saucony etc i would start putting my race foams in my daily shoes now. No reason say the velocity nitro 4 can't have full length alphatic tpu in it
Yes and no. Evo SL because of its geometry wants you to run faster than even ES4 does. In terms of material and price yes. It’s revolutionary and you can use it as a daily trainer. But I don’t think the market for slower easy run shoes will ever end. Most runners are just hobby slow joggers and EVO SL is too much for them. They’d rather buy a good shoe not everyone wants and is easy to get like Supernova Rise.
@@snowwalker9999 thats what we have the max stack for but i think my overall point is that each company should have an evo sl in their arseanal now. like mizuno does with the neo zen

I own the ES4 so it’s super interspersed to me to see how the ESL shoes compare! Thanks!
Great comparo. On a less important note, Speed 4 looks great and has the best colorway game in the business.

I’ve had all Speed models & ran in the Speed 4 today. All have been great shoes for me. Haven’t worn an adidas shoe in many years.
Does the shoe cause pronating due to the medial design?
