In my early days I certainly struggled with this. Thank you for sharing this Alberto. I no longer attempt "show off stuff" that has not been perfected in my practice room. I know my limitations...lol
Practice helps a lot in fact. I didn’t mention it, but it’s definitely important. Although showing off it’s exactly what you don’t want to do, if you have this. 💛💛🎸🎸
Great analysis and great advice! I struggled with crippling performance anxiety for years. For me, the great revelation was that my performances were all about me and nothing about delivering a tune to the audience for their enjoyment -- just as you said. Once I changed my attitude and really believed it, I find I can play in front of anyone and survive ;-)
Many moons ago I had a counselor tell me that your head is out to get your ass. He was so right! Stage fright (aka Performance Anxiety, fear, worry) causes me to do the very thing I am worried (scared, terrified ) about doing-- Its a self imposed critique (judgement) of my own playing. When playing and when overwhelmed with Stage Fright , Instead of enjoying the experience, i try to just get through a performance and pray that it's over quickly. Instead, I should enjoy and relish every moment I am allowed to bring the beauty of music to other people I think a lot of folks, myself included, think we never quite measure up; we think we are not quite good enough. But, That's a Lie! Its not true and more importantly it does not matter. What we all should do is to pursue the music instead of the perfection. As For me, if i play my guitar with feel and with heart and if I simply let the music flow, it's almost always a more enjoyable experience. Moreover, Like you said, the Music just comes out. Simply put, "Leave practice at home"! .Alberto, Thank you for this Video! Man, I love your guitar sound on this video. If you can, please share with us what effects, amps (if any), and what kind of pick ups you use . So glad I discovered your channel 2 days ago. So far, i have watched and thoroughly enjoyed 2 of your videos. Thank you for being so generous and for sharing your passion. Have a beautiful day my friend!
Your videos are awesome Alberto. The best for guitar learning in my opinion. Do you plan to do a comfortably numb second solo analysis? I’m working on this solo since a few weeks but I’d love to have a deep analysis of it as you do so well. Thanks a lot for your work.
Oh, I might add that today I jammed with a band. It's been a long time since I have done that. I can attest to what your are say. I made many mistakes that I don't do when I am practicing by myself. Once I warmed up to the other guys and got comfortable, "almost" everything fell into place. Thanks for this video. It will help me.
Great advice, Alberto! A big problem of mine. Fans tell me how much I seem to be enjoying it, but inside I am shaking! Sticazi!! I tell myself now I am in the happy business (like TE does) and letting the guitar be my voice heals my soul. I just want to make people smile!! ❤Cheers, BB
Gracie Alberto, for sharing your experience, I am an amateur guitarist and in my courses (Beyong The Guitar) once a month we can perform in front of the community via Zoom, It never sounds like I usually play in practice, but playing in these monthly performance gives me experience to perform in front of people. Even in front of a camera when we have to submit a song I get very nervous because I try to do it in one take, so we are afraid to make a mistake, where a lot of professional tel met hat they do postediting. They here no miracle solution, but will try to put your tips in practice. By the way still trying to learn Roma no fa la stupida, love this song. Ciao! from Montréal
It seems to affect almost everybody so don’t worry too much about it Eugenio! More than editing you can do multiple takes and combine them, on a record it’s the norm. But with video it becomes much trickier. Glad it helped!
I've been with my gf for 11 years now and we have full confidence, but whenever I try to play something in front of her I forgot everything I know and start hiting wrong strings, wrong frets, overbending, losing rythm... I don't imagine myself playing in front of an audience hahaha Thanks for the tips anyway! Love your channel 💯

True, a band helps you sharing the burden, but if your the frontman it’s still on your shoulders. It’s 3 levels for me: by myself (heavy) as a bandleader (med) sideman (none)
@@tamdsms It's also very helpful and reassuing to know that even the really advanced players have experienced it from time to time, and had to find ways to get over it!
Hey Alberto - 3 weeks ago I studied your 'brick in the wall' solo as I just joined a band at very short notice who include this in their set. Thanks to your guidance and excellent tutelage, I had the confidence to play it live. I got great feedback, beyond anything I had hoped for (apart from some pre gig fear !!) So just wanted to say a MASSIVE thank you! I've now been asked to join permanently - my first gig in 20 years!

Thanks a bunch. The second solo is a bit less interesting, and super long, but maybe in the future. Ciao!
