So excited to see a new video. I never heard of Coby before. Thanks for good information in your videos and both of your books! I reference your books all the time and sometimes I just look through them and dream of my next score!
12:31 hello I have all your books I am so grateful for the education you bring to life ...and your long life of digging for every bit of info you have....I am an avid collector of all things shiny Brite ekcetra...you are my hero😊 and since life has slowed down for me it is amazing I must have over 5 to 6 thousand ornaments... even restoring the boxes! I wait all year to see what you will pull out of your magic bag of tricks....my friend's thought I was crazy! Now they are hooked....just like the ornaments on your trees.....with all the love for what you bring forth to keep it real for USA on an election year! I could keep going on but I haven't figured how to make you a crown for the true queen of Christmas... I hope I'm your biggest fan and one day I would have the pleasure to meet you! God Bless from Michigan .. Bryan Belli....ps, I did my tree in your honor last year and never got the chance to share with you ... hopefully this year

I was surprised to discover a few years ago that one of our old ornament boxes was stamped Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Now I know why. Thank you so much for your knowledge and for making me feel validated in loving vintage Christmas ornaments. Looking forward to more videos.
Sharon, if you get a chance can you email me a box picture with the address? I'd like it for my archives. Appreciate the help. booksbyjody2021@gmail.com
I just stumbled upon your video on Coby and had to listen. For the most part, you got it right. I worked for Coby for many years as did my whole family. Coby purchased bulk glass from GE and corning, depending on seasonality and cost. You did not mention their tree top bulbs, which they did in house from glass tubes. Charlie Morton was the real genius behind the equipment. The Missouri operation was going on while Coby was still in Woonsocket. The Woonsocket location stayed open until 1983 when bankruptcy forced for sale to Rausch industries in gastonia North Carolina. They only remained in business a short time. Environmental and safety regulations along with overseas manufacturing made manufacturing competitively in the United States impossible.
I would like to broaden the story by talking with Coby Glass employees. Can you email me your contact information at booksbyjody2021@gmail.com? Merry Christmas.
New Book…how did you sneak that in! Love your new cover for immigrants too. I’m goIng to send the war tree phots this year…I have some nice finishing touches. Hope you are well , we missed you…. G
Hi, thank you for your videos, I found you because I just bought your book (Vintage American Made ornaments) in the UK, from Amazon. It's very useful and informative but I wish I could find out more about the kind of ornaments we get here like who made the Victorian ones - would they have been made in Germany/Europe? I'm thinking perhaps most of ours are from Europe as it's closer than America! I'd really like to be able to put an age to some of mine. I'm not sure if I have many Shiny Brites, but I would love to get hold of a boxful for my ever growing collection! Maybe one day!
Thanks for watching in the UK. There was a ribbon machine for blowing glass bulbs in the UK. You can see it in action here ua-cam.com/video/MD1BGuRrk9M/v-deo.html A great resource for German/European Christmas ornaments is the back issues of the Glow magazine. They are accessible for members of the goldenglow.org. On my website there is document posted about West German Shiny Brite ornaments. You can also email me questions at booksbyjody2021@gmail.com Merry Christmas

The Blue Light Special had me laughing. Great Vido Jody ❤️🔥👩🌾
I can't resist injecting a smidge of humor into the education.
