Titan is fun but tragic. It's extraordinary powerful, but the way I've found best to play it doesn't feel like strand, just... Stasis 2. Hunter is extremely fun, if less effective in a numbers sense than titans, and warlock is alright. Effective enough, but not my thing. At least it feels unique to strand
A very fun warlock setup is running necrotic grasps with strandlock, since the ticks of poison will proc unravel damage which then feeds into a very strong aoe dot loop.
In PvP necrotic grips and the strand one taps I got a three piece one tap just with one melee and then the thread ball counts as a melee too so ez poison
@@deast1827 they still nerf exotic and abilities because they're too powerful in one sandbox. Look at the stasis exotic hunter arm armor which was nerfed both in pvp and pve
You need to look into Felwinter’s Helm for Strand Warlock. You can openly disregard the summoner gimmick that Bungie sorta pushed hard onto the class, and instead lean much much harder into the glass cannon mobile monster that Strand allows you to be. The loop goes: Create a tangle, and then use the tangle to create an opening via grapple melee. Target something that’ll die on hit, and you’ll AoE weaken and suppress everything nearby. The three threadlings will then immediately get to proccing your unravel chains by damaging the enemies you initially hit with the melee. You can collect the tangle to throw and grapple to it for extreme movement, and even use this as a way to hard blitz groups of enemies. This build heavily focuses on the melee benefits of Felwinter’s Helm and leans more into a Crowd Control damage dealer spec. I use Fourth Horseman on this loadout because I frequently use tangles to aggressively approach bigger targets, pop a melee on something weak nearby, and then mag dump Fourth Horseman into the bigger enemy with a chunky damage boost. My ideal loadout is: Thread of Warding: Collecting an Orb of Light grants Woven Mail That fragment you mentioned that grants melee energy The fragment that grants unraveling rounds on strand melee (this will almost certainly work with grapple melee) The final fragment that allows you to spawn tangles with weapon kills while you have woven mail Right now I’m using Explosive Finisher to refresh my grenades, but I may opt to use Grenade Kickstarts and opt for Class Finishers for more survivability. My build emphasizes Strength/Resilience/Discipline (in that order). Recovery is less valued due to mobility you get with this class.
I noticed this too! The grapple grenade counts as both a grenade, and a melee ability, so it works with Felwinter's helm, and also works off of melee bonuses (like Hands-On). I don't have Collective Obligation, but I think that weapon would work well this season with this build, offering weaken and volatile (through the artifact) for basically free, while still having strong options for survivability, mobility, and good burst damage. Kind of like Void, but with (imo) more explosive power and crowd control, with a little less survivability (no devour).
Funnily enough I run felwinters but I still focus on the summoning of my babies. This is because since the three melees plus the finisher to spawn, it is very fun. Especially when there’s a few ways to make threwdlings do boatloads of damage
I run a similar build also and I noticed that since the grapple is a melee and a grenade the impact induction and momentum transfer mods both work, it's better than grenade kickstart. With the grenade energy on damage fragment i can get my grenade back instantly in the right moments plus I add the fragment that gives woven mail on orb pick and pair with my unforgiven smg with demo and repulsor brace. Once I kill an enemy pick up the orb and now I have 60 percent dr, and I run volatile rounds so now I'm unraveling everything around me with volatile rounds and getting void overshields off of debuffed enemies.
The 1st Fragment they make you get (Of Finality) actually plays into this really well, by giving us threadings on Finisher finals blows. This is a great Strand dominant build for people just starting to use the subclass. Thread of Propagation would also be really useful, especially with those extra Melee charges.
Run 1 kickstart 2 impact inductions, u benefit more, Thread fury, the one where damage generates grenade, thread of evolution and the last one is your choice
If you equip Thread of Generation and swap out one of the grenade kickstarts for a second impact induction, you can regenerate your grenade extremely quickly by actually building into your melee. Plus, it gives you a massive refund on grapple grenades because the grapple melee counts as a melee attack. Might even experiment with dropping one of the impact inductions for a heavy handed for easy orb generation for armor charges and woven mail.
This is what I did, heavy handed + impact induction + Fury makes for an awesome gameplay loop. My main concern is on harder difficulty stuff like GMs/dungeons/raids grappling into a pack is going to be ill advised. I think as difficulty ramps up people are going to move towards threadling and away from grapple (my preference is grapple btw, makes the build feel much more fluid and easier to generate orbs since threadlings don’t count as melee or grenade damage unless thrown, and you’re always going to consume it usually)
I'll still use shackle when it's appropriate even if it messes up my boots, i'd rather loose the free threadlings than to have nothing to deal with unstoppable.
I've been running the shackle grenade and I've noticed that throwing a tangle doesn't spawn threadlings, but shooting them does. After consuming the shackle grenade the suspending detonation on final blows can also destroy a tangle and release threadlings. As cool as having more threadlings is, the shackle grenade is so good, especially after consuming it.
Best with grapple grenade imo because the grapple melee actually counts as both melee and grenade damage, so impact induction will reduce the cooldown of your grenade without needing armor charge or a tangle to constantly grapple to
Confirmed by Bungie Help tweet on Feb 28 *Thread 4/6* - The Swarmers Warlock Exotic Legs do not create Threadlings when a Tangle is thrown if a player has the Strand Shackle grenade equipped. (Based on the nature of the tweet, safe to be assume it is bug and Bungie will work on it)
Anecdotal update on the "bug": I've noticed in my play that as long as you consume your shackle grenade (to gain Weaver's Trance), my Swarmers seem to work as intended. Tangles are spawned and I can detonate or throw them to summon two threadlings. Maybe the "bug" only occurs when you throw the grenade?
As a Titan who has built into grenade energy mods and tier 9 discipline, I have my grapple about every 20 seconds. I definitely think that if you actually build into the cooldowns, they arent bad at all. Then again, thats kind of the whole point of builds. I think they've changed buildcrafting now, especially with the ability cooldown nerfs across the board, to where builds dont just enhance a particular playstyle now, but instead they are REQUIRED for that particular playstyle. It's no longer "hey my ability cooldowns arent bad, but if I build for it, I can get them back in literal seconds". It's now become "if you arent actively building for fast cooldowns, they are going to be noticeably slow". It could also just be everyone suffering from whiplash after the campaign version of Strand had like 5 second cooldowns and now they're being brought down to Earth once they've actually unlocked it.

Yes but the "tangle origin" threadlings are tied to the exotic. because they are coded as spawned from a tangle they trigger on tangle damage and on tangle kill effects. The same can be seen with for example scorch effects, what ever applied the initial scorch gets the kill/damage credit. This means that scorch kills from grenades or melee count as melee and grenade kills and that solar abilities can double trigger hand mods if the enemy survives the cooldown period just like on vortex grenades and contraverse holds. Another fun outliner of this credit system working out is the trustee from deepstone crypt with incandescent, since the scorch is credited to trustee all damage ticks of the dot trigger the bray inheritance ability regen making it quite potent.
I know I'm late to this but I personally like to use outbreak w/ this exotic. I have my threadlings and my nanites all over the place. Looks a lot like christmas.
Hey CoolGuy I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this but if you have on Firepower (previously called Elemental Ordnance) and Heavy Handed (previously melee wellmaker) on a grapple melee, it'll spawn you TWO orbs of power, so all you have to do is grapple and uncharged melee for two orbs

Tip for the shackle nade bug: only applies to throwing tangles! If you shoot them you can use shackle nade. Using that with the consumed shackle nade buff and the seasonal perks relating to strand is amazing
Verity's brow works well with a weapon with hatchling because the threadling that spawns will counts as the weapon allowing you to get death throes from that.
At least for me the swarmer bug only applied to throwing the tangle - shooting it till it explodes works fine. I would also recommend running it on warlock, as the fragments for suspend + the weaver’s trance from consuming a shackle grenade is a powerful and really fun loop.
pointing out a bug You can no longer make orbs with Crystals made by abilities (Glacier Grenade, Howl of the Storm Behemoth Aspect) for the Mods that make orbs on Grenade/Melee kill In short, Behemoth cannot utilize the new mod system properly
@@kronosx7 that’s the main Strand build I’ve used since launch, unironically using Thorn in all pve content. Spreading poison, Unravel, and Suspend literally everywhere
personally. i believe the strand kill screate a tangle aspect is useless. another one can add a lot more. despite being a great perk. tangles always have a cooldown to be created. so that aspect ends up being overkill i have found.
Don’t forget, there’s a seasonal perk that Suspends enemies when you shoot a tangle with a Strand weapon… like Quicksilver Storm. It’s excellent synergy :)
I know this is late but now that the suspending grenade is fixed with swarmers, a shackle threadling build with swarmers is crazy. Triple strand surge, crafted rufus' with demo/hatchling and circular logic with demo. Generation, evolution, the effect duration fragment and the one that spawns orbs on precision final blows on suspended targets. Reaper for more orbs. I use my crafted iterative loop as a secondary with voltshot for melting pretty much anything and doing crazy boss damage when you get voltshot off and throw a melee for more unraveling if you don't have a threadling up. Idk about master stuff but I cleared a legend lost sector in like 2 minutes with it lmao
Another set up I’ve found really good is going for 110 discipline so u can put the fragment that makes danger return Grenache energy this allows u to have 100 discipline and grenade damage refunds grenade energy with Grenada kickstart to constantly throw grenades and get tangled that way (also on the bong staking the mod that gives u grenade energy upon using ur rift so 90 to 100 recovery is also good) but imo just the bold I put together u don’t gotta follow it but it’s a good grenade build that didn’t revolve around stasis cold snap Refresh with ominomanyc gloves or using infinite fusion grandest it fun to try good add clear and not to bad at killing champs when stunned adding a little note you can consume the threadling grenade when you’re out of combat because you’re gonna cool down is so short you can have five thread lines and a grenade ready to go. Just don’t use the rift or u will send all of them out plus 3 new ones
The Firepower mod works with the Threadling Grenade. Like with Thread of Fury and Tangles, the Threadlings which emerge from the Threadling Grenade count as a grenade and can trigger the mod. I don't know if this also applies to the perched Threadlings you get when you consume the grenade, but I doubt it.
I've found the new heavy handed and firepower mods to be much better at orb generation than the siphon mods. they only require one melee/grenade kill as opposed to multiple kills with the siphon mod, and if you're doubling down on siphon mods it's hard to fit heavy ammo finder.
Strand is so WILDLY underrated. The three melee are genius in my opinion. With the new mod- and buildcrafting changes 3 melees mean 3 orb of power spawns through e.g. heavy handed which you can then invest into recharging your other abilities which feed into your melee again and so on. Suspend is incredible with abeyant leaps and the short range melee is perfect so sever all the enemies you have suspended in the air. I bet similarly powerfull builds are possible on Hunter too.
I wish that threadlings generated from the aspect via consuming your grenade counted as grenade damage. Instead they're separate as they don't give adrenaline junkie or other perks like it. On the fun side if you consume your grenade for the 5 threadlings and then use rift, you'll send out all 8 at once. It's very fun and surprisingly solid dps!
There's a TON of things that create tangles, yet they have such a long cooldown that its completely unnecessary. I feel like they should cut the cool down in half
@omensoffate HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE.
Warlocks got a really nice swarm/ hivemind set with threadlings, Hunter's got the best super out of the three, with grappling being it's other strength, Titans got the ability to suspend, yes that's really good against tormentors, but it's not that easy to proc, we have a class ability, which if you don't have the boots you have to aim, we have a super which doesn't do that much DPS, and a bolas, which you have to opt in to using. I'm just hoping they add tormentors that aren't bosses to the raid, otherwise titans are stuck to using solar and void again.
You can run suspend build or swarmer build on the warlock and both are really fun. There is an aspect that increases damage for tangles and homeslty for higher tier content it's needed. maybe another build will come up and I am here for it :)
The only thing I dislike about strand is the tangle cooldown. Like 15 seconds is a long time especially in group play when it's a 50/50 chance that your tangle is getting picked up by someone else instantly. But also I'm sure anything shorter would be broken.
On arms you want artifice so you can run grenade kickstart, impact induction, and heavy handed. Heavy handed will generate orbs on your grapple melee combo which is super handy. Then you have invigorstion and innervation on legs, and bombers on class item. I was actually using this with swarmers at first but then I started using eye of another world which also was working really well.
I tested it myself earlier and found that Woven Mail is upwards of 50-60% damage resist (via Cyrtarachne). It's absolutely busted if you continually grapple your anchor point.
you can also use grapple to continuously proc demolitionist reload especially nice if you have a blowout or hothead with explosive light and demo so you keep getting dr and instantly reloading the rocket
I've been enjoying necrotic grips with the thread melee. U can absolutely tear through groups of enemies. I don't know if it's as strong as arc chaining but it's still fun as heck
in the future there will also be a fragment called thread of generation where just dealing damage gives grenade energy, I think it unlocks after the raid
Idk if its a bug or a feature but if you're running the grapple, bolstering detonation and focusing strike both proc on the grapple melee so there's also that which can be built into on the gloves.
@@LowIntSpecimen I like Grips and Striga on arc. Glad to see Strand builds using the same loadout though. I completed the legendary campaign and moved directly onto the Titan. Wasn't feeling the threadlings. Just the Hunter to go but it'll need to be amazing to be better than void.
This is pretty much how i'm playing mine. bit different on arm mods, but that's it. I like that I can make an orb with a powered melee nearly anytime I want with 3 melee's.
Been diggin swamers, picked them up for my legendary exotic. Really appreciate the advice on throwing the thread instead of shooting it for melee energy
Im rocking the grenade/melee mix since im 100 discipline with the quicksilver + demo grenade launcher. I cannot wait to put this build to the test someplace other than neomuna since Im still too low to do normal damage. The day they fix quickstorm and ToM to do that normal 40% more damage is the day this build truly shines
Btw in this build you should NOT run font of Resilience. Blue mods make it so your armor charge decays, and without it you don't need to run time dilation so you can use your grenade kick-starts whenever
Thank you for making a positive, exciting video on Lightfall! As someone who just returned to the game after a LONG break, this negativity circulating in the community is really killing my vibe. I had so much fun with the campaign (even if the story wasn't the best) and I'm really having a blast with Strand as well. Can't wait to get back to watching my Coolguy builds and enjoying Destiny again. Cheers!
smth i do is run strand warlock with karnstein armlets, the heal from them proc on graple punch, also any melee thing procs from that as well, for example heavy handed withc creates orbs of power on melee kills
This makes me wonder since the threading from the tangle is considered a "tangle". Then the threading generated from the grenade should work with Verity's Brow.
personally had a lot more success running the different mods that grant ability energy directly instead of interacting with armor charge: bomber+distribution+outreach class item, heavy handed+impact induction+focusing strike gauntlets, with 3 innervation on legs let me literally never shoot my gun for an entire battlegrounds
There probably are cases this is wrong but it really seems to be that if you're trying to min/max an ability or damage you're best not to mix blue and yellow armor mods. The moment you do something to activate a yellow mod all the benefits your blue mods would get instantly disappear since they entirely use your charges. So if you have decaying armor charges because of a blue mod then you're in a situation that you either let the timer run out on your charge or you lose the blue mods benefit by the yellow activating. I'm betting a lot of builds will be focusing on doing purely blue or purely yellow. Also I haven't seen testing yet but the increased regen mods don't seem to do much. Thoughts on this?
Maybe if you don't have a good demo weapon, you could replace Thread of Warding with Thread of generation and utilize grapple as a good way to not be killed. Just speculation. Edit: I've noticed more grenade energy gained than basic demo, so if you don't have enhanced demo or demo wellspring, keep the fragment I mentioned in mind
Quicksilver is gonna be even better when they fix it, its currently not doing the bonus damage to red bars that exotics are supposed to. I honestly didn't even notice, used it through the campaign.

2:53 I'm fascinated by how many people have said stasis when they mean strand.
At least for me the swarmer bug only applied to throwing the tangle - shooting it till it explodes works fine. I would also recommend running it on warlock, as the fragments for suspend + the weaver’s trance from consuming a shackle grenade is a powerful and really fun loop.
pointing out a bug
You can no longer make orbs with Crystals made by abilities (Glacier Grenade, Howl of the Storm Behemoth Aspect) for the Mods that make orbs on Grenade/Melee kill
In short, Behemoth cannot utilize the new mod system properly
stasis always had some mod inconsistency since shatters dont really count towards melee/grenade kills if you accidentally proc that
NB throwing tangles is bugged but shooting them still makes threadlings when you have the shackle grenade
What’s truly monstrous is grasps of the devourer. Like the way unravel in the poison work together is unreal.
Add in a weapon of sorrow. That's how I played the campaign.
@@kronosx7 that’s the main Strand build I’ve used since launch, unironically using Thorn in all pve content. Spreading poison, Unravel, and Suspend literally everywhere
@@TheFawse Try Osteo Strega.
@@kronosx7 I’ve used it with Osteo, and it’s probably better with it, I just love Thorn
personally. i believe the strand kill screate a tangle aspect is useless. another one can add a lot more. despite being a great perk. tangles always have a cooldown to be created. so that aspect ends up being overkill i have found.
You explain stuff so well CoolGuy, thank you! 😄
I found it really fun to just yeet the tangles and grapple onto them to get to a group of enemies to melee
Get good?
I'm just hoping they add tormentors that aren't bosses to the raid, otherwise titans are stuck to using solar and void again.
the warlock strand class single handed make me want to main a warlock now. gotta get my through the campaign!
Artifice armor doesn't give you an extra slot like that any more, just one for a single +3 stat bump. All armor can slot 3 mods now.
That doesn’t even work bruh
I tested it myself earlier and found that Woven Mail is upwards of 50-60% damage resist (via Cyrtarachne). It's absolutely busted if you continually grapple your anchor point.
you can also use grapple to continuously proc demolitionist reload especially nice if you have a blowout or hothead with explosive light and demo so you keep getting dr and instantly reloading the rocket
@@Kazuhira2249 sounds busted as well. The grapple aspect gives a reload of its own, but this would be good for Titan / Warlock I imagine.
@@Logan-tw7wv there's also a strand fragment that reloads on grenade
Let the light fall build videos begin!!
Just dont forget that the arc rocket does way less damage.
2:54 hmm yes, my favourite quick silver catalyst, stasis
I've been enjoying necrotic grips with the thread melee. U can absolutely tear through groups of enemies. I don't know if it's as strong as arc chaining but it's still fun as heck
2:50 I love how everyone is calling it stasis out of habit 😂😂
Great dive into the class and avenues. Will be running warlock for 2nd play thru, looking forward to leaning into it.
It still works while using shackle grenades but only if tangles are shot instead of thrown. Just something I was doing.
in the future there will also be a fragment called thread of generation where just dealing damage gives grenade energy, I think it unlocks after the raid
I’m assuming it will be like 1 or 2 percent because if not, tracerifles will be insane
@@SindaluOO7 It could be like starfire where you can only proc it every few seconds for a set amount of energy. Hopefully it's good though.
I turn into megamind with these things on sending out my little minion creatures
Me, using shackles
Also it seemed to spawn my little guys when I shoot the tangles I make via melee...
“And it also changes this weapon to stasis” lol I been falling strand stasis too
When using the grenade that spawns threadlings You get more threadlings if you consume the Grenade rather than Is throwing it.
The Catalyst changes Quicksilver Storm to Stasis?
...But it's Strand when you're using it...
Bungie help has tweeted that shackle grenade breaking swarmers is a known bug and it’s being worked on
Idk if its a bug or a feature but if you're running the grapple, bolstering detonation and focusing strike both proc on the grapple melee so there's also that which can be built into on the gloves.
Osteo Striga + Necrotic grips pairs really well with the 3 melees as well.
Kinda pairs well with everything.
@@border304 Arcane needle is probably where it's best though, three charges + a ton of range
Amazing video as always!❤️🔥
I like consuming a threadling grenade and follow up with a rift. Suddenly a wave of these dangerous babies
FYI Quicksilver is currently bugged and didn't get the 40% boost to primary exotics. Use literally any other thread weapon.
Strand has been so very fun and Warlock has been the highest possible point for me.
Stuff like this is why I think people saying strand is underpowered haven't played enough
I main these in PvP still and fun fact, Hatchling while these are on can activate Devour.
What about Traveler's Chosen with catalyst?
Im rocking the grenade/melee mix since im 100 discipline with the quicksilver + demo grenade launcher. I cannot wait to put this build to the test someplace other than neomuna since Im still too low to do normal damage. The day they fix quickstorm and ToM to do that normal 40% more damage is the day this build truly shines
Btw in this build you should NOT run font of Resilience. Blue mods make it so your armor charge decays, and without it you don't need to run time dilation so you can use your grenade kick-starts whenever
I found that necrotic grips has some good synergy with strand as well. Perhaps a video on the pairing.
Great video, I would like to hear what you think about Verglas Curve. Easily my favorite of the new exotics.
Sweet threads on the Warlock btw. The threadlings are cool too
Thank you for making a positive, exciting video on Lightfall! Cheers!
Warlocks try not to use the trials helm in every fashion set: IMPOSSIBLE
I fricken KNEW suspend nades were not working or something. Gonna try this out
smth i do is run strand warlock with karnstein armlets, the heal from them proc on graple punch, also any melee thing procs from that as well, for example heavy handed withc creates orbs of power on melee kills
This makes me wonder since the threading from the tangle is considered a "tangle". Then the threading generated from the grenade should work with Verity's Brow.
Thank you this helps improve my build I'm also using a seasonal strand auto rifle with hatchling perk
i'm absolutely loving strand warlock. with the ideal fragments unlocked it'll be even better as well. Might be my new favorite class.
personally had a lot more success running the different mods that grant ability energy directly instead of interacting with armor charge: bomber+distribution+outreach class item, heavy handed+impact induction+focusing strike gauntlets, with 3 innervation on legs let me literally never shoot my gun for an entire battlegrounds
I think the reason the Shackle grenade is bugged is because they didn't expect anybody to switch off grapple lol
I would be fine if the needles did less damage if they just had a shorter cooldown, getting all 3 melee charges is so painful without monte.
Blue mods are stackable at +30/50/60 to their stat. Won't go beyond tier 10.
“Swarmers” has a bug? How appropriate!😉
Quicksilver is gonna be even better when they fix it, its currently not doing the bonus damage to red bars that exotics are supposed to. I honestly didn't even notice, used it through the campaign.
As of this weeks TWAB the shackle grenade thing is confirmed a bug!
I grabbed the gloves because I want a better Swarmers roll. Excited to get them, though.
At 2:51 CoolGuy misspoke. Obviously he meant strand. Just in case anyone didn't pick up on that.
I went for this exact build as soon as Bungie unlocked all the fragments
