The oil line failure happened in 2015 on our 2008 RAV4 (about 60k-70k miles). The line sends oil pressure from the engine to the cam shaft for VVT. When the line ruptured, I began losing power and the check engine light came on. I continued driving for about an hour to get catch an important flight and dealt with the vehicle when I got back. The result?... nothing. We replaced the oil line, changed the oil and continued driving it for several more years and traded it in with over 110k. I was actually surprised it didn't completely oil starve the engine, overheat and seize.

My 2019 Highlander is unsfe for me, due to the design and size of the sideview mirrors... They are 3 X bigger than they need to be, and block me from seeing small pedestrians/ dogs on leash, who might be crossing in front of me, from left to right, in a crosswalk.. The mirror is almost as tall as wide. the upper 2/3 of its height could be eliminated, with no adverse vision impairment. The new design eliminates "any neck space" between the mirror and the A pillar. It used to have "neck space", which afforded vision of pedestrians walking from "behind the mirror to "behind the A pillar".
Compare the older Highlander to the 2019, and newer.

All the issues I read about them I really want to know if they are legit or not. But I'm glad you answered me that one because I was thinking maybe it has high cabin noise which is a red flag in terms of quality in general, but I'm glad it's not it. I actually imagine cabin noise on Toyotas to be sound proof... I did doordash last year and want to see if I can use that to get it. I blew the head gasket on my 2014 Toyota Corolla because my radiator wasn't working properly after a small crash in which I refused to fix after thinking it's still working except it wasn't working properly and caused my head gasket to fry. My mechanic told me my engine was irreparable and needed to be swapped, only issue is that the front frame damage still exists from that crash and told me he couldn't fix it like that. @@eddie7126 Did you get it new or used? I'm a bit concerned on my end, I owe some money to the credit cards, I ordered an electric scooter and is on its way. I'm gonnna continue to Doordash with the scooter while i save up for the down payment so I'm not dropping like 10K plus out of my pocket since this car situation of mine kinda happened out of nowhere, I'm gonna pay the credit cards all off by the end of this month so I can be ready to buy in June or end of May. It's going to be a little 60 day adventure for me. lol but if I truly do get the highlander, I doubt I will be doordashing with it, but I will buy a second scooter if needbe. I was doing Doordash with the Corolla until it stopped and this time around I want an SUV .. You think you would be able to sleep in the back with all the seats folded down including the second row passengers and filling that gap between the front seats and the second row seats?

2020 highlander just purchased and at 16 k. 3 months old. The air conditioning compressor was hit by a rock and not covered under warranty. After researching this I found it is a very common issue. 1600 dollars to fix and there’s a backlog of the part because of this problem being so common. Sorry Toyota but never again.

The miles till empty on these vehicles are innacurate. Dealership calls for a recalibration wich womt fix the issue. My wifes highlamder has died twice on the side of the road when the display said 5 miles to empty. Manager at toyota says the digital display may take 5 to 10 miles of driving before reading accurately. Reason why at 8 miles left i wouldnt advise going anywhere. All that aside the vehicles themselves are trash. By far toyotas worst line of suvs. Covid made for material to be scarce amd a huge drop in toyota stocks and sales. Umfortunatley the quality of thes vehicles came up a lil short tham what the cinsumer woupd expect from toyota. The sensors for the secondary breaking system malfunction constantly. The tailgate height semsor loses calibration constantly. The remote stary option doesnt even allow the car to run lomg enough to heat on a cold day or cool on a hot one. Very dissapointed in toyota.
