  • In the 1990s, Rosemary Verey was one of England's best-known gardeners. And, in particular, she was known for her book on the winter garden. Here she explains how a garden can still look amazing on cold days, and shares some of her family history and how Barnsley House gardens were created.
Barnsley House is now an exclusive hotel and usually open to residents only.

I LOVE HER GARDEN. I ARRIVED FROM USA ON THE DAY SHE PAST AWAY. I WAS GREAT FULL THAT SHE LEFT INSTRUCTIONS NOT TO CLOSE THE GARDENS . SPENT 4 HOURS THERE TAKING IN IT ALL, SITTING IN THE TEMPLE , WONDERFUL.

I absolutely loved her garden in Barnsley. She’s a garden designer’s icon. My garden is full off hellebores now, all different varieties.
