The show was cancelled 11 years ago even after the official social media account announced the day that the last episode aired that there would be a 2nd season and to stay tuned, then it never got one.
First episodes are kind of a pilot episode that the makers experiment with some things. Like the bubble shield they introduced in the first episode and then forgot about.
