honestly this is probably the most interesting video recently, maybe even on the whole channel. there are definitely more awesome fpv creators but man, this is probably peak Rotor Riot

You have the right idea with the rescue Quad. But what you need are 4 straight legs coming down from under the motors (about 12inch long) then you can land over the top of the quad then release the net.
Seeing and hearing Drew's quad in turtle mode was hilarious. I've replayed it multiple times and it's still funny.😂
Grappling hook with a rope ladder and use the big drone to set the hook on the roof and then you can climb to any floor you wont.

@@malo6748 You can set those hooks a hell of a lot more reliably as a person rather than a drone.
I'll never forget the one and only time I met Jeff at Excel drones and he helped me choose my first goggle antenna lol! Now he's famous lol

I audibly gasped at 11:23 ! Holy damn that was sick :D
The drone "dream catcher" has gotten a stuck drone off a 7 story building as well as picked one up off a live fire mortar range. Only issue I had was that I had crossfire telemetry turned off on the Rescue quad but not on the downed quad. Half way back after picking up the downed quad something with the telemetry link on the downed quad caused a fail safe on the rescue quad.
The day everything got stuck! I love this video! I was LOLing out loud and SMH my head at you guys (see what I did there?) In the end, you got home with all your equipment and no injuries (that we know about)

When you drop the net on the fallen quad spool it up so the net gets wrapped around the motors and grips the net.

USE magnets on the drones to retrieve them. One magnet at the retrieval kwad an one and the pre mounted on the freestyle drone.

Been raining for 4 days here , 157 mm ( 6 inches ) one day , 53 mm the next , 35mm yesterday and already 40+mm today . They predict another 5 or 6 days of this . But hey this the wet season and I can fly the sim , when I need abreak from fitting the new Minn Kota and 24 v system to the boat .

This is where a DJI Mavic Pro will come handy.
I’ve always thought some sort of magnet at the end of your rope instead of a hook to make a good retrieval quad. The motors on our drones are magnets so if you’re able to pass by one of the motors you should get an instant lock.
The ultimate drone would be some sort of electromagnet setup so you can turn the magnetism on and off as needed.
All fun and games untill you crash on a steel beam or the retrieval quad gets stuck to the metal stabilising the concrete lol
Averell Dalton sure I agree, but the hook system can also accidentally get caught on stuff.
Using magnets will make the hooking part so much easier which is what every one of these retrieval videos seem to struggle with.
This is also why I said the ultimate setup would be an electromagnet so you can turn the magnetism off and on eliminating this issue.

Theres a pretty nice claw on thingiverse you can print and servo that works great for retrieval... you just need a PID switch set for carrying a second quad, maybe mix it with the grabber servo.
