My mom just started knotted locks. You do have to to separate (detangle) your locks. Also the woman who started it had so much breakage according to her due to sister locks that she knots the crown very very infrequently. The back of her head is very neat. I don’t know why she doesn’t show that part. Tunisia did a recent video and her hair still looked great - but it’s only been a year. I will watch my mother’s journey as well. She only knotted once and it looks neat. It took 1 1/2 hours to do it. So I will just watch others experiment and see how it turns out😆
