I genuinely think you guys are awesome. Many brits have a harsh view on Americans... I don't know why. I come from a town in England much, much more horrible than this and yet this video, along with seeing how much you enjoy it here, has made me want to explore places that are 30 minutes away from me. I thank you dearly for that. As a punk rock, London born, cockney, beer drinking son of a gun, your videos make me happy. And please, please, enjoy your time here x
Thank you, Scott! We're so glad you enjoyed this and our other videos! You live in a gorgeous part of the world and we're already planning our next trip back :D
If you ever get a chance to go to the Woodhall Spa (Lincolnshire) 1940s festival in July each year (after COVID) it’s really good fun. The whole town turns into WWII, people dress in traditional 1940s clothes, bring 1940s vehicles and even WWII planes fly over. They have music around the village and food stalls. It gets very busy and parking is at a premium but it’s well worth a visit. Public transport isn’t the best in Lincolnshire, with few train stations dotted throughout the county but it’s well worth the effort.
England is so good because it’s quiet, I’m from a really quiet town in England and everyone just gets on with their normal life not aiming to antagonise or disturb everyone but being very friendly to each other, that’s why the restaurants in England are quiet whilst most of the restaurants in America (at least when I visited) were very loud.
As a Brit, I'm so used to stone or brick houses. When I went to America I was amazed at how many wooden houses there were. It all just seems so temporary! People in Britain expect their houses to last forever (well, at least a couple of hundred years). Maybe it's because we are so used to seeing really old buildings everywhere...
I have a Mastiff, they are the oldest breed in the UK,when the Romans invaded the Celtic tribes used them as attack dogs against the troops, accounts of Roman soldiers of the time said it was terrifying to see these huge dogs coming at them. Brilliant friendly, loyal dogs that will always have your back.
I'm English and love the English countryside. But if you want truly breathtaking scenery try the highlands and Loch Lomond in Scotland just north of Glasgow. Scotland is absolutely stunning. In England there is similar places with the Lake District and Peak District. Really worth a journey.
I would love to meet a foreign couple like you guys in my home town and get to show them around, I always find the small things people from other countries pick up on about english everyday life fascinating and I would really enjoy showing them around and introducing them to the strange, weird and wonderful places around.
We’ve rented cars different years and driven all over the British and Scottish countryside. Such tiny roads! Often not wide enough for two cars at the same time. Driven around France, Italy and Switzerland as well. Some similarities. Love being in Europe. So much different from the US and where I live in China.
Just stumbled across this video of yours from a few months past that have not watched before. Good to see you outside getting some fresh air. Do think you should do some more of these natural/relaxed unscripted walk about videos. Hope you are getting out and about in Paris! xxxx
Great videos guys! I'm from the UK, and have been watching your videos while in lockdown. It's lovely to get a different perspective on your own country, and to remember how beautiful it is. ps- come visit Northumberland & Newcastle in the North of England ( My Village Corbridge is very pretty)! stay safe.
I was born in Crick where you were looking over to :) You guys are amazing but I never expected to see Crick church spire and Crackshill in the background of one of your videos! 😄
You guys should come to Milton Keynes! It’s a ‘new town’ built in the early 60s and it’s really nice. There’s this huge town centre with loads of shops but then there’s a small walk and you are in the country side. This is bc it was built in between loads of rly old villages. So you’ll be in a brand new housing estate, go under one underpass, and you’ll be in an old Tudor village. It’s so cool! 👍🏻
I’ve just left MK after 20 years! I lived 5 minutes from Costco, IKEA, Kingston but our house was right on the edge of the countryside with horses in the field behind our garden. You can get from A to B in minutes by car because of the wide dual carriageways but can also cycle without ever touching a road due to the ‘redways’. It has everything, including little delivery robots trundling along the paths and scooting around your legs! It’s a fabulous mix of modern and old. I miss it 😪
Love you calling them massive, they are beautiful examples of modern mastiffs, they are small, have a look at french mastiffs, or old English mastiffs, twice the size
Mini van so your located in Northeast England and famous for 11th century Norman castles! I love how quant the countryside is in England! How far are you from Birmingham?
I've often thought that thatch roofs are a fire hazard and even though they look good, do I want to take the risk. That said, if you live in a country where most of the houses are made of wood, does it matter if the roof is a fire hazard?
waw, did nt know that you had been near my area of the woods , The towers that you showed are actually the aer vents for Braunston tunnel , which is a canal tunnel
Haha your big city life is showing @5:34. There's loads of small towns like that in the us, like the one I grew up in lol. also i LOVE the color editing on this one * O *
There's some bellringing in the USA. Check out the North American Guild of Change Ringers. Once you can ring a bell competently you are welcome to join the ringers in almost every tower where ringing takes place.
Just found your vlogs on here and thought they were really interesting. I live in the north east and it is beautiful, certainly worth a visit. We have a really interesting 'festival' this weekend and next weekend called goth weekend, it would make a great experience haha! :)
Houses are different all over uk, terraced housing derives from socio-economic history, and gardens are part of that. Terraced houses are close together on land to increase rental income of past landlords, it's really that simple.
Are you ravens still in England? I must have missed your videos in my feed. I always make sure to watch your videos and thought you guys had wandered off again - came to check your channel to see 3 videos that I hadn't watched yet!
We are in France now! We've been really busy with work, so haven't been able to post videos as regularly. The plan is to go back to England sometime in 2020 though - perhaps in May!
Omg! After your last video on the England/American differences I thought you guys really reminded me of my boyfriend and I. But now that I see you housesit, that’s actually crazy, we also housesit around the world! :)
Moreganplease Yeah! We got lucky and landed a 5 month sit! And to stay here this long we had to get a 6-month long-stay visa. Quite the process. We had to fly back to the states and apply for it in-person at the embassy in San Francisco. A lot of paper work and $$ but worth it so far 😄😄
There are indeed brick and stone houses in the US. I don’t know if earthquakes are why you don’t see them in Washington, but it is surely possible. I question only because of all the stone and pseudo adobe in LA. And adobe and stucco show structural cracks very well. As does brick. That doesn’t necessarily mean an earthquake makes them crack, it just seems to me. Is there a lot of stone and clay in Washington? I picture loam and silt west of the Cascades and sand on the eastern side. But sand sits on something. And every single thing I have said is a guess. I have been there, grandson lives there as does a nephew. And that’s all I know. This was a fairly long ‘hmmm..... I don’t know 🤷🏻♀️ ‘. So why say anything? I don’t know that, either.
Thanks for taking the time to comment, Rebecca! And yes, I think the reason why we don't see many brick and stone houses in the Seattle area is due to the earthquake risk. I've also spent some time in the American south and you'll see a LOT more brick and stone down there.
Charleston SC has a lot of brick built houses from what I remember of my time in the US. You might like to talk to brick companies down there about earthquake proofing a brick house.
CatholicSatan - it would be impossible to retrofit a brick house? I have seen brick buildings in SF that have a shiny film applied to the inside walls that acts like shrink wrap.

Ha ha! I stopped listening for a moment, to think . . . You said you’re enjoying “watching” the dogs and I had to process the language. In my native British use of English, the verb “watching” describes a passive, non-interactive process and it’s very obvious that you’re taking care of two dogs in a very active way. Sometimes I just have to press pause :-)
You should come to newmills it's a bigger country side town but we have the only swizzles factory in the country and a archenemies screw 😂😂 then again thats about it
