If you find you replace the Climate Control Module and it does not work, you can try to rebuild the Module, it's not hard. The two common problems are the module and the hot water valve. The Video for the module repair is ua-cam.com/video/8nJBogEXkTY/v-deo.html and the video to replace the hot water valve is ua-cam.com/video/j7rlsJkhSoI/v-deo.html
Thanks buddy, a very common problem on these Jaguars, and if you have to take it in to the dealership, Yikes!!!! So save a bunch by doing it yourself 😎
The only way to truly know would be to unplug the power connectors from the vent flaps and apply the right voltage to them to activate them, and see if they work. For the climate control unit, you can test the circuitry, or you can take it apart and look where they all burn up. The easiest thing to do is take the climate control out and inspect it, if it looks fine then start checking the flaps. I did a video for inspecting and fixing the climate control ua-cam.com/video/8nJBogEXkTY/v-deo.html
Ha Ha, well now he is your ex, so he can have a car that does not work LOL :) You can make sure your car is in great working order and impress any man 😎
Where do you get these great GIFs from. The What Tools Where Used??? spiraling wheel was like being hypnotized! I have played this so many times. I have a thing for watching anything car engines. When I was a child my father would sit me on the car and I would watch him having fun!
That is soo sweet between you and your father, great memories you must have :) The GIF's are actually not GIF's. They are professional plug in's for Final Cut Pro. They are not compatible with Imovie. I get most of my stuff from Motion VFX. The latest one I got is 3D tracker, and used that on the latest Money Tree vid. I'm thinking I should have posted that vid here as its been getting a lot of views, but I need watch time on Money Tree so that vid will help. Sometimes I wonder if I should just have one channel, but the other stuff like UA-cam "How to" and analytics really don't fit the GarageKing channel.
Check the evaporator temperature sensors before changing the control unit. Mine had two bad sensors I changed them and everything was good. Two sensors are located above the gas pedal on the center box’s wall and one is behind the glove box on the passenger side.
Hey Thanks for the info, I did not know about the sensors. In this case it was the CCM. I was able to fix it for about $5, see this vid I did ua-cam.com/video/8nJBogEXkTY/v-deo.html I was pretty happy. Thanks again for sharing the info about the sensors as I didn't know that. Hope you had a good weekend :)
My vents are practically blowing fire. They were fine before my mechanic, unplug something under the passenger side - that’s part of the heat and AC unit. He said he heard a servo activate and then nothing but hot since then. My sons, an Audi technician and he took the car to his shop and ran all kinds of tests and pulled codes and said it’s not the control unit you show the rebuild of and we already replaced the heater control valve and he says it’s got to be the blend door actuator‘s. Any info on that?
Hey there and thanks for the comment, yup it could be the blend door. But most of the time its the heater control valve or the module. There was a recall on the blend door years ago I believe.
Hey there, the most common problem is the flap door sticks / sometimes the door actuator needs to be recalibrated if it gets stuck, but then you have to ask yourself why it got stuck in the first place? You can try disconnecting the battery for 2min to reset everything and see if that helps. When you go through the the different positions keep the fan on low so you can hear the actuators working, when you go from floor to defrost try to listen closely (make sure the blower is on low or turn it down) and listen if the actuator is making a noise (trying to move the blend door) If the other positions are working then your CCM is providing power and its not a fuse issue, as all the actuators are run off the CCM. You may have to disconnect the actuator and try to move the door manually to see if it is stiff. Most of the problems are simple, but you have to get right in there to check them. If you have access to a scanner, some scanners will move each actuator and do a test for you.
thanks for the video here chap. really helpful. however question, you mention about the serial numbers... could you just explain what you mean by the serial numbers and how you match them for a new unit fella? thank you kindly mate :)
Thanks for the comment. Yup if you check with your serial number (by calling Jag) you can ask if you have the heated windshield, as the module with heated windshield is different than the one without heated windshield, but just make sure the buttons are the same. Also you know its easier just to fix it yourself, take a look at this ua-cam.com/video/8nJBogEXkTY/v-deo.html Most of the times you can just fix it yourself and save yourself some cash, plus you don't have to source out a used one :)
@@GarageKing cheers fella I will have a look at that. Mine looks to have the heated windshield but aslong as the buttons match it should be all okidokie? :)
Hi i want to ask, on my jag 3.0 v6 2000 model ,when I recharge the a/c system its working fine, but after 1-2 days when I want to turn on the air-condition the vents blowing hot. The a/c compressor, a/c evaporator core, a/c expansion valve they are in a new condition. Can anyone help me?
Hey buddy, thanks for the comment. When you are running the car go under the hood and follow the aluminum lines from the A/C compressor. They are about an inch thick. When you get close to the firewall you will see them, feel them, one should be warm and the other should be cold. On a hot day there should be water droplets forming on it (like an ice cold drink in the summer) If the line is cold then its most likely your A/C controller in your dash, or the heater valve that has failed. I have the video for how to repair the AC controller part completed, but I'm still editing it and it should be out in a few weeks. You can either go to the junkyard and get a new controller, or you can take yours out, and solder the burnt connection on the board. For the valve, see this video ua-cam.com/video/j7rlsJkhSoI/v-deo.html Most of the time its the heater valve or the controller in the dash.
Hey, great video! I got a S-Type with just sometimes working fine a/c and sometimes it doesn't work at all, not even the compressor will turn on. The outside air temperature sensor was acting a bit weird, replaced it. The DCCV was a bit leaky, replaced it as well. All sensor data looks correct. Do you think it could be the CCM or something else ? Thanks for an answer in advance!
Hey there, your CCM should be looked at for sure. The other thing that may cause an issue is if you actually have an AC leak and you are low on refrigerant. I would check the CCM first, they pretty much fail in the same place. See this vid I did on how to fix the CCM. It shows how to inspect it, and repair if you have to ua-cam.com/video/8nJBogEXkTY/v-deo.html
Yes it could be, in fact I think there were problems with the actuators for certain years, and there may have even been a Jag bulletin issued. I would be checking to make sure that actuator closes the door enough to seal.
@@GarageKing thanks it’s usually the passenger side that blows hot while driving. Do I have to take off the dash or do you know about that kind of project.
@@Theyhatelonzo There are multiple blend doors, what I would do is remove the mats and crawl around first while changing the temperature and listening for the actuators. Obviously do it in a well ventilated area. If memory serves me correctly you don't have to remove the dash at all, you may have to take out the centre stack, but if you replaced the module you know how to do that.
Yup, and that module does fail. Its actually pretty easy to repair and check. You should check yours to see if it's burnt. Here is the repair video ua-cam.com/video/8nJBogEXkTY/v-deo.html
Hi GarageKing, is the entire unit considerated the CCM? I need a new one for my 2006 S-Type R. My car has the touch screen/nav so if I buy a whole new unit would the module be included with it?
Hey There, I believe the CCM is included with the whole navigation unit (when you have that option). I know when I was searching for the S type the CCM was different with or without the nav option so that leads me to believe its part of the nav. While I can't say for 100% sure it is, I believe it is. The only way to truly verify is to find a CCM in a wrecker for a S type with nav and see if it's the actual nav unit. Happy Holidays to you :)
@GarageKing Thank you my friend, same to you! Before buying another CCM do you think it's more likely I can have my current one repaired? I know the CCM is ridiculously expensive
@@mikequinn900 Hey there I would try to fix it. I would take it apart and look for a burnt part of the circuit board. If you have to replace it what do you have to loose.
