Played this in an indoor percussion show as a closer, very cool to see it incorporated into drum corps! Hopefully more pieces like this are used in this setting.
Nick Niehaus No not this transcription, but the original Andy Akiho piece was in the indoor show I mentioned. So I hope similar pieces to the original are used in drum corps.
Connor Smith that's even more reason to go ham, and they lost DooDoo and Tom aungst and their drill writer. Not the whole team, and they still have harloff. That's like having lebron
Nick Niehaus there show doesn't really have a theme though. It's because they lost there design team. I still think they'll be top 5 but we'll have to see how the show ends up. But as of now I'm not sure that's just my opinion.
Gilbert Ines YES. I instinctively tap time even though there is a met, and front ensemble lost a step.for a second there during the long rest near the start
at 1:30 they use bass drums with their feet. personally i've never seen that in any shows but then again I dont know a lot about drum corps so maybe its been done before.
I can tell you(because I went to a crown Learning camp), the hornline sounds so clean, like damn. It's definitely something totally new for Crown and I think people will LOVE the new show when it's announced.
In letter D during the 5/4 stuff can someone explain to me what the dash in the 8th notes indicate. This is written in my music but I can't seem to find out
either they are counting wrong or the music is wrong after the 5 measure rest where it says freely. the bar before they do the tap roll is 4/4 on the music but they come in after 3 beats to play 3 + 4 +
dave bullard So I'm not sure of the exact name, but it basically serves the same purpose as an accent mark, accept a little bit quieter. It's used more for ambience.
dave bullard it indicates a legato stroke type rather than stopping the stick down after playing the note, it gives off an accent like he said just off the nature of the stroke
Fish Sticks Yeah I knew about Aunst moving to the Cadets, but Thom Hannum is still at Crown right? I was just under the impression they'd be using his sticks
Well since Travis Peterman is the caption head he probably has final say so it could just be his preference. But yeah show design could be another reason
They don't use Hannum's sticks because they don't feel good to play with, especially in a modern corps setting. Those sticks are more suited for college band playing on cymbals. The MS5's are because they couldn't use anyone else's signature sticks so they went generic
The Majestic Poptart yeah, that's true! Cadets book is insane, but crown's book is also fire🔥 not going to be playing both, way too hard for me right now😂😅😶
I don't know how these guys do it. The music looks impossible to me! Then to add marching?! And they make it look like they can do it in their sleep! Jaw on ground.
That's some intense subdividing
Pulling for crown! Those snares are so great man! Wow! Haven't seen such demand since knights '06!
Much demand for... Crown? Anyone at all?
More demanding books this year: Bluecoats, SCV, Cadets, Cavaliers, Blue Knights, Blue Devils, I could go on
Really cheering for Crown this year! I think it's time you guys win a title! :D
NO one To kNOW one is one of my favorite chamber songs! When I found out Carolina Crown was playing it I was so excited
You know it's good dynamics at measure 48 when you don't even hear the first double stop
I thought myself "geez they missed something"! :P
"Not heard, but felt"
Carolina crown sounds great again very nice .
The snares are beast
GO CROWWWNN
The timbres!
very creative writing!

Nate Holmes doubt you played this
Nick Niehaus He means the original work of music
Nick Niehaus No not this transcription, but the original Andy Akiho piece was in the indoor show I mentioned. So I hope similar pieces to the original are used in drum corps.
Shooooooot Crown's going ham this year...
Kenny Sper they lost there design team this year.....
Connor Smith And? Corps go through design team changes all the time. I think this change will be for the better though
Connor Smith idk where you've been, but they announced the theme a while ago
im the one wearing red shorts in the back.
Sam Lee ayeeeee 👌
hi sam
you did a good job with that met.
was it hard????
Way better than last year. They might have it this year. (might)On the other hand this is fire as hell👌
spice memesy69 last year? This is the best I've ever seen from crown
2012 and 2013 was amazing (for the hornline at least)
spice memesy69 2009.
1:31 - 2:00 basically Sanskrit
EAST COAST!!!!!
I swear the part at F is the greatest thing ever
Does anyone else feel the playing drag in the front ensemble section?
Gilbert Ines YES. I instinctively tap time even though there is a met, and front ensemble lost a step.for a second there during the long rest near the start
That's because there's ninelets over a full bar
"NO one To kNOW one" = NO T NOW = NOT NOW!
This is so much better than last years book. I'm so happy Colin Mcnutt isn't writing anymore
Not Guert uhh..Colin didn't write last year. Tom hannum and tom augnst wrote that book
Not Guert You're actually just plain dumb...
LOL
interesting concept with the bass drums
Jared Hayes explain
at 1:30 they use bass drums with their feet. personally i've never seen that in any shows but then again I dont know a lot about drum corps so maybe its been done before.
Jared Hayes I've been following drum corps since 85 and do not remember seeing that done. Variations of it of course. Very anxious to see this show.
Jared Hayes I've never seen it
I can tell you(because I went to a crown Learning camp), the hornline sounds so clean, like damn.
It's definitely something totally new for Crown and I think people will LOVE the new show when it's announced.
They've come a very long way since the mid nineties.
I like it
THATS MY MAN DAKOTA!!
Some day I’ll get here man
In letter D during the 5/4 stuff can someone explain to me what the dash in the 8th notes indicate. This is written in my music but I can't seem to find out

curious why there are rests notated at H?
mendel lee Because the music keeps changing time signatures.
either they are counting wrong or the music is wrong after the 5 measure rest where it says freely. the bar before they do the tap roll is 4/4 on the music but they come in after 3 beats to play 3 + 4 +
that doesn't add up to 4/4 it's 5/4
How do you play at the dynamic
FF/MP
Ethan Grubb FF accents, mp taps. In other words, 12 to 3.
I like it!
that low Eb at 1:30 tho....
That shit is bad ass!
So... help an old man out, what's the hyphen, dash or whatever that's used as an articulation? I can't figure it out from watching.
dave bullard So I'm not sure of the exact name, but it basically serves the same purpose as an accent mark, accept a little bit quieter. It's used more for ambience.
Thanks Will! It's been a while since I read any parts. That's a nice development in notation.
I just realized I spelled "except" wrong. I feel like a scrub 😂
dave bullard it indicates a legato stroke type rather than stopping the stick down after playing the note, it gives off an accent like he said just off the nature of the stroke
Thanks. That's really cool. I'm familiar with that effect. I didn't realize that it was being utilized! That's another whole layer.
you should do bluecoats or santa clara drumline
Tashaun Anderson they can't do coats because they use IP
HOLY SHIT, DCI lines use the repeat sign?!?!
Anyone else struggling to play measures 87-93?
Does anyone know why they changed to the MS5 even though Hannum is still the arranger?
Fish Sticks Yeah I knew about Aunst moving to the Cadets, but Thom Hannum is still at Crown right? I was just under the impression they'd be using his sticks
Fish Sticks That's what I was saying, maybe it was just a design choice, but I guess it's not a big deal in the long run lol
Matt Antony yup nailed it
There's no way that I'm gonna play that😶
Jesse van Breden exactly 😂 it was nice to watch but who's gonna play it, not me😂
What really? I thought it looked pretty feasible, especially compared to Cadets's music which appears utterly impossible
The Majestic Poptart yeah, that's true! Cadets book is insane, but crown's book is also fire🔥 not going to be playing both, way too hard for me right now😂😅😶
Caleb yeahhhhh Colin McNutt left cadets
Caleb 😅
Wow 0:36 to 0:44
AHHHH WHAT'S GOING ON
GARDNER WEBB!!
It's all about that bass
Sounds like this show could be as good as Inferno was or even better
Oh man this is so tasty
lol the last bar is a mistake. you forgot to notate it as just a tap
how on earth is this beating Cadets in percussion
Will Dibbs scoring higher.
Reminds me of Cadets with lower heights
Stock Crown
Ticorrian Heard not at all
Ticorrian Heard very stock
Nick Niehaus Bruh this is so stock.
I don't know how these guys do it. The music looks impossible to me! Then to add marching?! And they make it look like they can do it in their sleep! Jaw on ground.
b0bfelice i mean, most other corps are playing harder stuff
"cresc. accents only" dafuq?
Please be clean.
Snare much better.
anyone actually make it through this video? I wish crown valued other sections than brass
Christopher Cook i got really bored with it lol
you just think of this corps and how bad it must be to not be in the hornlne
Not so little Drummer Boy again valued other sections... sure you know I was also talking about guard?
