- This was a teriffic day trip to the szlajka valley that I took last year with my mom, alexa, and her mom. It was the perfect option for a family outing, and I can say that would be the case for any group you go with - be they kids, adults, or in between. It would also be perfect for a solo adventure as you get a real sense of wonder in the nature out there, and there are plenty of further hiking trails to take advantage of amongst the more rugged sections of the bükk forest. If you want to follow our footsteps you can sandwhich this trip to szilvasvarad with a trip to Eger castle before and/or after. There are a plethora of fantastic bath houses and vineyards in the surrounding region. A trule special part of hungary in Heves county!!!

It was great! Come back to the Bükk! Southern slopes, Bükkalja Sály, Szomolya, Tibolddaróc! Lots to explore!

Plumorchard Castle, to be precise. When I went there the place was full of buffets selling trout. Dellllicious. Beautiful place.

A párom egyszer mutatta ,hogy írta és elmentél Szentlőrinckátára , aztán mondtam neki írja be Szilvásváradot is , én ide valósi vagyok ez az én falum, ugye mennyire csodálatos hely ? Örülök ,hogy elmentél és láttad és még tényleg van mit felfedezni belőle mert ez csak a töredéke volt amit láttál! 😊
Glad y'enjoyed the Szalajka Valley 😊It's indeed an enthralling and wonderful place to spend some time at. The word "Szalajka" has no meaning, tho "Szilvásvárad" can be translated roughly to "Plummycastle". I just wish the "stairwell waterfall" would not be barricaded off from the visitors.
If y'desire to check out a brook AND a big waterfall which is _not_ fenced off, I recommend y'to visit Lillafüred. It's right next to the city of Miskolc, an' is a wonderful place to be at.
