  • Let's talk grow lights, how to know what to buy and all the sciencey stuff behind them in a SUPER BASIC way. We will discuss some of the confusing information we hear from online forums versus what the boxes are labeled like. Buying grow lights can be super confusing and the price tags alone can make it stressful. Hopefully, I can help you with the conundrum.

Thank you for this explanation of a very confusing subject. I’m in Qld but may have to grow orchids in S.A. one day. Indoor growing will be a new adventure!

It’s not as difficult as one would think plus less pests. Thank you for watching

Thank you for taking on this topic. I’m an orchid collector, and a lighting designer, so the relationship of lighting to my orchid obsession is very important. I use a light meter to be sure my cattleyas get 3-5000FCs, while other species need less, or somewhere in between. Proper lighting is as important as proper fertilizing and watering etc. Thank you for contributing to a somewhat complicated topic.

Thank you for watching. I don’t own a light meter, I’ve been using the “observe and change “ technique That seems to be working for me.
I found it interesting that seedlings used the green and yellow parts of the spectrum more than adult plants. I think someone could really do a PhD thesis about this topic.
