Car is great grand touring car like the 928 but I think nicer looking. The F1 is a 20K life on clutch and like Corvette and XLR whole torque tube and rear end have to come out. I don't like clutch life. Also they have sticky button issues. How Ferrari and Maserati cannot do that right and everyone else can is shocking. But I do think the car is nice.
The 4200/Coupe is a brilliant car , the last true Maserati ever made. I had 3 of them. You should repaint the black wheels back to silver - Looks cheap with black wheels
Never mind that even high end service computers can't talk to Maseratis.... And the service info easily available, eg not in AllData or other such services.
was tempted for a while to get one of these, but decided to go out in the garage and shine up my old RX7 instead... the turd you know vs the one you don't know.
They're an exotic but one that's cheap to run - mine has paid for all the service and fuel and all other costs just through appreciation alone. And service has been very cheap. Clutch changes are expensive, some parts are expensive, but generally speaking, they're not much more than other European makes to service
Iirc, in 2021, Tyler spent 80k at the Car Wizards shop. I imagine 2022 is considerably more. That would be quite an IOU for the Car Wizard if he wanted to run the debt that way ;)
The Car Wizards has the coolest walk on UA-cam! I'd love to see a continuous loop video of him just waddling around on his stubby little legs with Pantera's WALK as the background music!
Hey Car Wizard, love that you've gotten into the weird wonderful world of classic Maserati! I'd really love to get hold of you for a chat. I work a fair bit with these cars, and I can see that your car has a bunch of the typical issues that these have. I'm an owner and I've had to design a bunch of parts to fix the problems and I'd really like to show you and get some of these parts to you! That exhaust is absolutely aftermarket, the X-pipe has been replaced and so have the mufflers. The headers and cats are original. I've made a video about how the factory exhaust on this car was set up. On my car, I went back to the earliest version of the exhaust which a completely different beast!

I have the same car here in uk. Those wheels you now have are standard on the gransport but i think if you refinish them in maserati mercury grey which would be standard on that car it would look much better. Exhaust is not standard, xpipe in unsilenced (aftermarket) and rear silencer tips are not standard so i reckon rear boxes are also non standard. Great car enjoy it vastly underated
@@bentoole6205 I thought that too at first but upon closer look I think it’s 4200 back boxes probably because it has some Larini or similar that have been sold separately by a previous owner and 4200 boxes are easier to find than the GS ones to replace then with. The x pipe is not standard which hints that the car once had more exhaust bits. Shame it’s still got the US spec cats. I’ve had 3 gransports, love them.
Us cars came standard with an X-pipe, as opposed to all the other worldwide deliveries. The back boxes on this car are not stock, all the rest is stock. On my car I had removed the secondary cats and custom built pipes that were less squashed before where the secondary cats are.
Wish Wizard would have spend more time giving his input on the car vs just going over the car for "service" items. 1) prior history with these cars 2) any shared parts from manufactures? 3) major service items and estimated costs 4) reliability/expectations
Something I love about Italian made vehicles is they emote passion, whether it is a mechanical symphony, or a physical emotions or driving dynamics. Something the other European car companies have bred out of their vehicles almost to the point they're to clinical for my tastes.
Hey Wiz. Did you watch the Car Issues episode? The guy who sold the Maserati to Hoovie put an aftermarket Tubi exhaust on it. Not everything aftermarket is bad. Just like all tuners like AMG (before Mercedes bought it) or Mugen (started by the Honda family) are bad.
These are definitely a car that deserves more credit, I love my cambiocorsa. Just about every electronic part is from some European economy car they’re cheap to run as long as you buy parts using the number on the part, but even then I got a brand new MAF from Maserati (same one as a 316i) for £28, and a BCM for £130
Yeah the rest of the commenters here have no idea - my gransport has made me money on ownership (if I sold it), not lost it. It's a brilliant car and less expensive than an Alfa to run
A very nice Gransport for Mrs Wizard. I ran one of these from a similar milage and it went well until it approached 50k miles then the know issues started, the throttle body is infamous and i am covinced they used carbon tracked pots so that they wear out, thankfully there is an upgrade the solves the issue forever. Keep an eye out for subframe corrosion, living in the damp UK is not good for these cars. I replaced my Gransport with a facelifted 2010 Quattroporte with a ZF auto box not the trouble prone Duo Select, ensuring that all the know weakspots had been seen to togeather with underbody protection to the all the metal parts. I much prefered it to the Gransport, i was lucky to find a special GT-S awards edition in specially-developed pale gold "Quarzo fuso" pearlescent paint, it looked stunning. I hope Mrs Wizard enjoys many miles of trouble free driving, i am sure David will be able to fix any issues that arise.

Hope u have a really good tire tech to go to because those rubber bands on those rims r extremely difficult to remove and install without destroying the finish on those rims....if u keep the car long enough that is.....make sure the shop has a "touchless Tire changer" as I have used them and they work awesome....there is no mounting head on the machine....just 2 plastic discs

Woooooee. Nice set of wheels Mrs. Wiz. Fancy shmancy. The wife has to ride in style too.👍❤🤑😃😎👀
So, that car was a way for Wizard to keep the 302 for himself... lol Also, the clock is a feature. It's a time stopper, to keep the driver forever young.
At this age sadly maserati were often ferraris test bed. By the time of the gransport the f1 box worked really well.
Love Mrs. Wizard. See has good taste 👍 Love it as she is giving the overview of the interior and once again states "my car." Sorry Wiz, the Queen has spoken.
I think it would be really cool to do ported heads, a camshaft and intake with a compound turbo setup with a tune set up for daily use, and or track/Fun time.
It’s already got 400 HP and doesn’t need any less reliability
Not sure you understand this is a Maserati. It doesn't need any more help with reliability and parts availability, it already struggles enough.
I love how the speedometer rests at 17mph even when the car is off
