I miss Phuket a lot. I was based in Singapore and when I needed a break I would jump on a flight friday lunchtime and be on the beach at 6pm. Normally I would stay in Karon or Kata beach. You advice is solid great work. I would also see the local tailor and get them to make 5 copies of my favourite shirt and collect them on my way to the airport. Super cheap, fast and done well.

funny thing about Bangla road is that my parent's were one of those that would bring me there when I was a kid! Always surprised people when I tell them I've been going there since I was a kid, but it was always fun to annoy my parents to bring me home when they wanted to sit and drink

Heading to Phuket next week. Staying in Rawai area (chalong beach) , any advice is it ok? Not ok? Just relaxing sounds great. Do a little island hopping like you suggested.
The better area in phuket, the rest is unbelievably touristy , i mean the whole of phuket is touristy and very expensive but rawai is lovely.
Check out phuket old town 100% for sure, cool little interesting town.

I'm retiring to Thailand in a year, and I considered Phuket, but I decided against it and the
other more "tourist towns" and settled on Korat, which gets tourists. but it's not a "party
town" and the weather is better there, so that works for me. I can easily travel to Phuket
or other places if/when I want a different experience.
How you can’t buy property as a foreigner?
I wouldn't be able to chill out and relax on Karon beach, or any other beach, where Jet ski's are tearing about.....
Go to the other side of the Island , then. There are plenty of quiet beaches to choose from on Phuket, but you will need to travel there by taxi or hire your own bike / car.

What type of health insurance do you get that covers you for any medical needs in other countries?
I don’t use a specific one. I did get travel insurance in Egypt. But not recently
You will need travel insurance that would cover you should you get Covid. You would be crazy to leave your country and not have travel insurance, even pre-Covid. Ask your local travel agent what travel Insurance companies there are to choose from. But read ALL the terms & conditions!
