I think they live for a set amount of turns and if they claim an outpost within that time they survive. Cause I've had empires die like 5 turns after I took all their land while there was plenty of unclaimed land available.
I really hate the fact the AI can just attack me first by being a computer and clicking my unit at instant speed despite me clicking them first. Not a fan of the turn system in this game allowing that.
I love the core goals of the diplomatic system in this game but the current implementation leads to some weird and unnatural situations once multiple relationships are involved. For example, it should be a no brainer that you can’t surrender a city that you no longer control (i.e. is occupied) to another player.
The only efficient way to absorb all those cities is with Inherited Land. In order to get the money you need to do it, you’ll want to pick the Chinese in the contemporary era.
It’s funny coffee gives food because coffee is almost no calories unless they’re eating the ground beans or the cherry that the coffee beans are the seeds of.
well its actually and sadly very simple, currently the ai does sortie in a siege anytime it got any reinforcement or more likely any additional units then the base defenders however that was a good idea to not allow it in the turn the siege started, so that would give the option for the attacker to decide to either siege and risk sortie in following turns or take the initiative now and be the attacker 100% so sadly currently against the ai there are no fun siege battles, you wont get the chance to build up siege units and attack a massive reinforced city where they moved their armies in like in 3 turns or something anyways if you wanto know if you are the attacker or the defender to be sure just look for the capture the flag or the defend the flag also because you can attack without movement you should not move next to them and try to attack, the ai is faster..., you can actually be an attacker if you attack an "exhausted" party, but moving nexto them and try to attack does not work when they decide to hit ya yes i played this game way too much lately :) i do believe it has very good concepts but far from being finished or balanced, give it time or make a better one :P
Infinite food in the late game (atm only on capital): Angkor Wat + Saint Basil Cathedral + Macchu Picchu (I believe it doesnt work). And if you want to go insane choose Ottomans in the early modern era. >100 pop capital with 0 farmers quarters and >6k food surplus.
The AI must have taught Vantage (or Battalion Vantage) to its cities. This skill from the Fire Emblem series allows the user to perform their first counterattack before the attacker gets to perform their attack when the user is attacked during the opponent's turn. This skill has the downside of not working unless the user's HP is below a certain amount (usually 50%), and the Battalion variant does the same thing but instead of the user's HP it works if the user's equipped battalion has less than 1/3 endurance remaining.
I think the AI counter attacks way too fast, so you end up being attacked without realising it. Which is why they went before you. Some times it can be good, because you are now defending a flag and the onus is on them to attack out of the city walls.
@@s-man5647 that helped but plenty of games, especially EA games from that time, had terrible anti consumer requirements and mechanics but didn’t die. People have been complaining about Madden, and FIFA for years now but those franchises are still going strong, and getting stronger every year, because these is no alternative. What happened with Simcity was the perfect storm of the most EA simcity to be released yet launching just a short while before Cities Skylines which was so superior that people started abandoning Simcity in droves causing EA to kill the studio that made it and put the franchise on indefinite hiatus. Which is a shame because the game had some ideas I’m rather fond of such as multiplayer and its sci-fi elements. I’m hoping Paralives does this same thing with the Sims franchise but we’ll see how that game is at launch.
Elephants with a cannon on their backs VS Sharks with friggin' lasers on their head... Taking bets now!!!! Tell me the story of the elephants!!! More Stories of the units!!!
I would assume that when the AI gets to attack first, it's the result of an advantage the AI has on highest difficulty. Since it is advantages to attack first, it would make combat harder. It might be a bug, but difficulty makes sense to me.
Not a difficulty thing, I did a game on the... second? easiest difficulty, that or the easiest can't remember, on Blitz just to look at numbers and stuff and not worry bout the AI. Went to war to deal with an annoying pest and nearly every siege resulted in the AI just attacking me. The problem lies in the, what at first was an interesting hybrid system of going at the same time, instead of separating the AI out. Now it's more annoying than anything, as I give the AI about 5 seconds or so (as if it took it's own turn) to do it's things first before actually taking my turn. That and attacking with similar power, if they've remotely got a chance they'll sortie, once I started stacking so I had 30% or more power over their siege defense, they never sortied out again xD
Star types reset after each Era increase, so you have two reasons for not advancing right away. First, you might want to farm Era Score for Fame by continuing to hit star thresholds. This is useful in any game where you won't win by conquering, since your overall Fame is what determines the actual winner, no matter who "ends" the game first. Secondly--and most relevantly for this particular game--most of the unique districts are absolutely worth building and, if you have a lot of territories to build them in, it's very useful to wait until you've finished building all that you can/want before advancing since you lose the ability to build them when you become a new culture.
That's probably the one downside of the game for me. The simultaneous turn based. I don't really like it because a computer is always going to be faster than the player. So it really doesn't matter outside of all Human Player Multiplayer matches. You'll otherwise just always lose initiative. I'd prefer a pure turn based set up. But... I get that's probably just me.
27:02 “So if you play as Austria-Hungary, you will never have stability problems ever again”, never thought hear those words in my life
If only Franz Ferdinand were alive to witness that statement
I think Empires survive if they have a unit and there's unclaimed territory, as you have in the sea at the bottom of the map.
I think they live for a set amount of turns and if they claim an outpost within that time they survive. Cause I've had empires die like 5 turns after I took all their land while there was plenty of unclaimed land available.

This sounds like it would be an ecumenical matter.
no, THAT would be an ecumenical matter.....

Circumnavigation is actually kinda fun in this game, you need a single unit to complete the circumnavigation itself, not just reveal the tiles.
The only efficient way to absorb all those cities is with Inherited Land. In order to get the money you need to do it, you’ll want to pick the Chinese in the contemporary era.
> I'm proud of my feminine heritage
For some reason that line just killed me.
Love the humankind vids!
The only ones who can be a game/franchise killer are either the creators or publishers.
The Humankind videos are always super fun, and I'm very happy that you make them.

I just came here to say there there is nothing remarkable about Potato's teeth.

Humankind might not be the Civ killer but Cities: Skyline did kill off SimCity.
I though sim city killed itself with the arbitrary building limit and always online requirement?

A tree masted ship? As apposed to a shrubbery masted ship?
Put your crack away Evelyn.
Can you explain what the purpose is of waiting to advance to the next era even if you have sufficient stars?
