Happy Birthday to Rudy!!! I remember Trevor when you first got started with your YT channel; and, you could hardly catch him! He's had a really good run with you and the stars. Only dog lovers can understand the bond that we develop with our dogs. May peace be with you both.

I've been having similar thoughts/worries about my almost 13 year old cat (running with dog software). Way too much I can say, but for me the gist is understanding it's an amazing gift and privilege to be able to give this guy the best life possible. Our little 1yr old has perked him up too!
But no matter what, you have almost a million people here for you all, whatever you need.

Both my scopes are Askar. Really like their designs and this one is neat. But it's the scope, camera and artistry of the imager that makes this image - really well done. Lastly, all my best thoughts to Rudy - happy upcoming b-day. Always enjoy seeing him beside you.

I have a couple of questions, first one: Whats the name of the cable that you used to plug camera into mount (And why)? Secondly, can you connect the mount inside of ASI wireless? I just bought this exact setup, and the USB Cable that came with the setup is blocking the power input on the mount.

  • @peterberbee
    @peterberbee 3 місяці тому

Nice result! Under sampling doesn't hurt with small aperture wide field instruments. They don't have much resolving power. These little telescopes are more resolving power limited, rather than seeing limited for typical sized telescopes. This changes the sampling equation. At any rate, this instrument is ideal for what you used it for, capturing a big nebula.

How does this compare results-wise to the original RedCat51? Seems WO has abandoned the helical focuser. Sorry to hear Rudy is slowing down. May he have long and happy senior years. I lost my black Lab Nero at age 12 when I was 26. You would think I would learn; we now have an eleven month old black Lab, Bruno. He loves to hang out with me in the backyard, but his bedtime is about 9 pm. Mr. Greyson, our Russian Blue male cat stays up as long as I do and occasionally scares the crap out of me when he suddenly jumps into my lap at the telescope. Thanks for sharing.

Im confused - a 44mm Imaging circle is the deifinition of full-frame - will fully cover a 36x24mm sensor - in the video you say it isnt? or is it that the lens aperture or vignetting or something does not allow it to fully illuminate the image circle?

    Help!
Right now I have a Celestron AVX, controlled with an ASIAir using an Orion ED80 and a crop sensor DSLR. I have a Franken-setup. It's hell to get out of my basement(my only place to store it) and outside to use so I don't use it as much as I would like.
I really want to upgrade and get something more convenient, and inviting for use.
This little scope looks promising. It even has a flattener built in so, amongst other features, it's better than the tube I'm using right now. (I DO like the ED80 tho)
I'm not rich so, advise is needed. What would be the best, most efficient, and cost effective mounts I would want to use with this scope?

Now is the time that Rudy needs you most. He is in his senior years. Personally, being in my senior years Sux. Look at Rudys parents to better judge how much longer he will be your Best Friend. Love him to death, so to speak. Spoil him all you can, in a healthy way and when he goes to Rainbow Bridge, you will still have a very hard time but you will know that you gave Rudy a Great Life. Check the Vet. Maybe an aspirin a day, just like me. The Best. PS...2-3 year Sub here and I come around now and then. I see the Stars through your eyes and they are Beautiful. Thank You.

Good review. The small wide field refractor end of the market seems to be becoming evermore saturated, we' re getting spoiled for choice. I see WO have just brought out an f3.5 version of the Red Cat51, I wonder how that stacks up against the Askar?. As I already have two small refractors and an f2 135mm lens, I don't really need another, so as good as this scope looks I'll pass, my priority at the moment is to upgrade my filter collection.

Hey, I'm really inspired by your astrophotography work. I just started building my own setup, but I'm feeling overwhelmed and need some advice. I have a Star Adventurer GTI mount and a Skywatcher Evostar 72ED refractor. I want to capture smaller galaxies like M104, M51 and some smaller galaxy clusters. I'm considering getting a ZWO ASI715MC camera, but some people say it's not good for DSO imaging. I don't know what to expect from it, and I don't want to waste money on something that won't work well. Another option is to use a Canon DSLR like the 550D, but I'm worried the field of view will be too wide to get decent quality images of smaller galaxies. Can you give me some advice on what to expect from each camera, or if you have any other recommendations?
I plan to get an autoguiding setup and field flattener in the future, but for now, I just want to try some basic imaging with just the scope and camera. Thanks in advance for your help! Keep up the amazing work!

Hi, I do photography as a hobby. I am technically experienced. but I want to shift my interest to astrophotography. So, I have been trying to obtain information about astrophotography from UA-cam and other platforms for about 6 months. Theoretically, I am at a certain level now. But I'm very confused, especially about which focal range of a telescope I should start with. I identified a few refractors in my mind. My budget is limited and I do not have the chance to buy different equipment for at least 2 years. The telescopes I want to buy are these (one of them):
    1. Askar 130 phq (1000 mm ) and 0.7 reducer
    2. Askar 107 phq (710 mm) and 0.7 reducer
    3. askar fra 600 )600 mm) and reducer
Interested in other equipment I know exactly what I need to do. Interested in other equipment I know exactly what I need to do. I am waiting for a clear suggestion from you for these 3 refractors. Can you help me with your suggestions? enjoy your work.

I mean, it's very good at that pricepoint, and amazing to see Askar bringing out so many good scopes at such a competitive price point. But, it does feel like that price point is due to a step backwards on all the improvements that the Redcat has made of the years, mainly in the focuser department.. and I do find the variable aperture very strange..

I have been using both prime and zoom telephoto lenses and found that I can get good results with these. Stopping down the lenses one or two stops improves my quality. When stopping down the aperture, the aperture blades will result in diffrationspikes around the stars, which some people don't like. It is defintely worth giving it a try in my opinion.
