I can't tolerate these foods after starting keto, low carb, or carnivore.

Here’s the link to the Functional medicine version of an elimination diet. Just make sure to do a keto friendly version you do it. www.mainlinehealth.org/-/media/files/pdf/specialties/integrative-medicine/elimination/elimination-diet-comprehensive-guide.pdf

As a low carber, and just eliminating all the crappy foods, sugars and highly processed veg-oils … I too have become very aware about how my body feels best. It is just a lie to say, that when we use to eat carbs and just everything - that we were never sensitive to these foods. I remember countless times where „normal“ meals just caused massive indigestion, bloating, etc.
Make it simple, just eliminate those foods. Very easy

Just saw your comment on Dr. Westman's video, so I thought I just pop in and say hi :-) before I started keto, ketovore and carnivore, I ate a healthy diet with lots of veggies, fruits, and seafood. Everything I ate I had to make myself or my mom would make the meals for us. But I wasn't healthy at all and usually had a tummy ache and bloated like no tomorrow whenever I finished the meal...now no veggies, salads, I feel so good. Today I ate some butternut squash and a bit of Napa vegetables and my tummy complains while I am typing these words...dang.

Unfortunately, when we remove those toxic foods from our body, it will in a very aggressive way remind us why we should continue to avoid many of them.

Dr Hampton. You are a beacon of hope for many of us who are afflicted with metabolic syndrome, a o it pains me to suggest your hypothesis may not be the total story here. Stomach acid pH in humans is normally between 0.8 and 2.0., similar to other carnivores such as lions and tigers. This allows us to break down meat to constuent components of proteins, minerals, fats, and vitamins. HCl also serves as an acid bath to kill off harmful germs and toxins..Gorillas and other primate herbavores have less acidic stomachs, typically between 4.5 and 6.
Because of all the processed foods, fruits, and vegetables we consume, our stomach pH does not have to reach the acidity needed to break down meat. This can permit the introduction of harmful gut bacteria, which can eventually colonize and overrun our gut and further dilute stomach pH.
Our livers are designed to filter toxins from our blood. These toxins are sent through the bile pathway to our gallbladder, where it is concentrated. When acidic food exits our stomach to the duodenum, our gallbladder secretes the alkaline bile to neutralize it and create an action similar to the volcano experiment we did in grade school when we mixed vinegar and an alkaline. The mixture Further breaks down our meat for more complete digestion. If our stomach acid is not strong enough, it may not trigger bile secretion and we have incomplete digestion and don't get the nutrients we require. If we live on carbohydrates, we may not trigger bile, and the bile can become thick and eventually create gall stones. This prevents the toxins from the liver from exiting the body and they get re-absorbed into our cells and we develop bigger problems. It's not simply a matter of microbiome. First, we must ensure that our digestive system is functioning as it should.

Thanks for adding some additional context to this discussion, which is why I made sure to say that the microbiome hypothesis is only one possible explanation for the symptoms

Dr Tony! Thanks for doing this video. It’s been on my mind a lot lately. I can’t tolerate carbs! But I am also seeing that I can’t tolerate some carnivore foods and they cause my hand eczema to flare. Bummer.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Finding the right foods to eat that won’t cause harm will be a little bit of an experiment that will take some time to figure out. Many in the carnivore community are just getting started and haven’t been doing it long enough to have fully evaluate what’s best. It takes some time to heal, and some foods can be re-introduced while others should be avoided all together.

i went through caffeine withdrawal thinking once i'm finished i can still have a coffee occasionally instead of habitually. what happened instead was i became intolerant to even a little bit. now if i have it i feel sick and stay awake for days. even with herbal teas with no caff i feel sick.

Some of my patients tolerate the toxins in coffee, and others don’t. The only caveat is that some do better with organic coffee’s, which avoid some of the pesticides and other toxic substances.
At the end of the day if you find that after re-introducing coffee that it is not tolerable, it may be best to just stay away from it all together.

I don't have the part of my G.I. tract that moves things along and /or contracts to hold , so it's imperative that I don't suffer from constipation or diarrhea. I have diverticulosis too. It took a long time, but I have finally figured out how to avoid issues. I don't eat any fiber, I drink enough water and I stay active enough. I say enough because I don't have to go overboard on either which seems to be highly promoted nowadays. I notice my plant-based friends and family, have a lot of GI issues and inflammatory conditions and it saddens me that they don't even consider that it might be related to the amount of plants they're eating . And I'm not against local organic seasonal plants, now and then. I know there's not any thing in them that I am lacking or need though. Another misconception is that many believe that a plant-based diet is anti-inflammatory . Thank you for sharing another option that is available to people who suffer from GI issues that they might not hear about elsewhere.

Thank you for sharing your testimonial. Even when I was a vegetarian, I thought that it was OK to be bloated and gassy as long as I was eating “healthy food”. I think the only way people will truly know the difference is by at least experimenting with an animal-based diet. That’s why it’s so important that we continue to spread this message so that more people would be willing to do their own experiment.
