Top Landing gone wrong

Hang gliding accident at Mala Lanzarote, 2012. Pilot came in too high and fast, pulled glider down too much, got into a banked attitude close to ground. Ground strike with left wing, both base tubes collapsed. Got thrusted upwards by the wind and swirled around the air a second time (30m). Luckily didn't land in the dam behind but was injured fairly badly (took about 6 months to recover). This video is intedend for educational purposes and I hope that other pilots learn by watching it. Always fly according to conditions and skill level. Safe Landings!

The conditions look to be very very strong for that glider (Moyes XtraliteI believe). Once the wind speed gets over 20 knots (37 kilometers per hour) catastrophe is lurking close by to any landing in a hang glider.

Good take. The pilot survived I suppose.

He did. Broke his pelvis and spent several months in the hospital. Still hang gliding.
