Japan’s cherry blossoms are blooming earlier than usual in 2024, due to a warmer climate. As the country prepares to welcome more tourists, experts warn that climate disruptions may lead to the extinction of a popular variety of cherry trees in some parts of the country.

Losing trees with cherry blossoms will be sad but losing trees and plants that provide us with food will be devastating.
Both are going to happen due to climate change
Roozing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@silentmajority8365 💀
These trees are of great value to Japan. I got what you were trying to say, but Japan is a country of cultural values and it is significant part of their history. We can never remake to it.
Well said, Jaker. The upcoming famine would be devastating.
I hope the Billionaires and the politicians that mishandle the future are satisfied. "Only when the last tree has died and the last river been poisoned and the last fish been caught will we realize we cannot eat money." - Cree proverb
I hope the Yoshino cherry blossoms don't go extinct.

I live in the midwest. There have been frezzing weather here at times. I'm loosing my cherry blossom tree. I couldn't understand why areas on the tree wasn't blossoming and why there were dead branches. I had tree pruned. My cherry
blossom tree used to be full of flowers hanging over my back deck looking beautiful now every year it looks bare throughout the tree.😢
I live in the midwest as well. Crazy weather in a single month. Grass is already green and those purple flower weeds are already fully grown. I have irises and other flowers and they have started to grow. Its literally snowing RIGHT NOW, looks like 3 in, right now in March 25. Not to mention much of the midwest is made of crops that are temperature dependent. We might have different crops in the future, or a wasteland of nothing.
I also live in the midwest and my cherry blossom tree is doing amazing. I live in Cleveland as well, so it was snowing here only 10 days ago. I'm sure the cherry blossom trees will survive.
Please Don't let this Pink Beauties Dissapear
The term of "hanami should be in Japan" is a long mainstreamed trend as if we can only find sakura trees in Japan alone.
But actually, we can even witness sakura blossoms in South Korea and China.
it wont, because china, the origin of cherry blossom trees, still has a lot of them in the tibetan plataeu area
Let's get some pink tree seeds then
Yesa Prease don't ret dis happon
@@GeorgeMartinusBut hanami and sakura are always associated with Japan and when we think about sakura we always have Japan in mind.
The solution isn’t to just wait until the trees die so they can replace them by other kinds of trees. We should protect these trees because there’s a chance of not seeing them ever again!
i was in hokkaido in febraury and could not get over the fact that it was nearly 10c in some places not to mention by the time i got back down to kanagawa, it was over 20c, ridiculous
Same in Eastern Canada. In February, we had 15 degrees celcius weather. This was never seen before, most particularly considering that normaly, in February, temperatures are between -15 and -25 degrees
it's crazy cause here in vancouver, the sakura's are already green. I swear last year they bloomed much later
We had the on time this year. Although they are still blooming in vancouver. We have had a lot of weather whiplash this year tho. snow in march and then warm weather up to 20 C. So strange
Glad I was able to witness several cherry blossoms seasons while serving in Japan. Always an epic event.
Cherry blossom and the nation that is well associated with it are both slowly disappearing.
This is not some kind of apocalyptic movies so the Japanese will not disappearing just like that and i love Japan and Japanese culture, language and scenery so i really hope Japan will always there forever.I also love reading manga and watching anime so i don't want the nation that created them to dissappear.

Japan has 126 million people. There are European countries that don't even have 2 million people. Japan will be fine, less crowded.
@@teoleno4019yeah people always talk about this with japan, while Europe is more concerned
Will not completely dissappear as Southeast Asians are now starting to migrate there due to lossening of migration laws.
Although the pure Japanese blood might dissappear. It will just have a different lineage.
I won't be alive that time but I hope this beauty will be saved.

I saw them in DC this year
I mean if you really see the state of humanity and the earth right now and where we're heading towards to, by 2100, Sakura trees being disappeared is really the least of our worries...
Anyone say "air conditioning" set on high?
I was there in Fukuoka last week, the temperature were crazy, one day it was warm, another day suddenly dipping low. I was able to witness Sakura but it was not fully bloom yet.
As its going Japan all together may disappear by 2100. Tree and Cherry blossoms are the least of their worries !
Maybe lots of other countries will dissappear because of wars when that happen

It happens and then unhappens again. We are being told about phenomenal heat periods but almost don't get info on phenomenal cold periods. It usually stays on regional channels, because it's not 'hype' enough.
In Crimea, for example (Can't tell about Japan since I'm not living here) there are apricots and plums which have same blooming capabilities and season. As well as a specie of cherry named "черешня", but it blooms slightly later. Usually we had this season in late April start of May. Then in 2016 2017 it began in start of March, and I was very surprised. But as of lately, it happens in end of April again. The climate is cyclical, and some cycles are very large for us to 'witness', as big cycles may span 100 years and more and are unobservable by common people, and medium cycles have 11 years and usually people tend to forget particularities of weather from ten years ago.
i will not be alive, but i hope future generations will be able to witness the beauty of these cherry blossoms. i hope we are able to save our lovely planet before it is too late.
if they can keep the panda from being extinct, they can keep the sakura alive
We’re going to need to build plastic replacements when the climatic apocalypse approaches
you know the day cherry blossoms are gone, will be the day peace no longer exists
we would all no longer exist once that happens.
won't be anybody left in Japan to see them anyway
Knowing the Japanese they will have a large indoor location which will keep the tree's safe and keep new tree's around. It is a very important tree.
The cherry blossums are so pretty... I would have loved to see the trees in Washington, D.C., but have never been able to....thank you for sharing yours through this video with the world! Pamela Winkler, USA
I live right next to DC. I saw them yesterday in the Tidal Basin. The blooming lasts for a whole week every year.

the trees are not going anywhere, it's just the blooms

Is this subject prominent and informative at same time?
It's a hopeful note to be able to plant a diverse alternative range of cherry trees. Nonetheless, the current cherry blossom loss is just another victim on humanity's chopping bloc. A shame!
same here the weather is confusing idk what to wear
Let’s be clear: it’s not that they will disappear. They just won’t be in many areas of southern Japan. The tree populations will likely shift northward.
Very delicate vegetation. we need some preserves for this unique tree :(
i wonder earth will still survive till 2100😂

EXTINCTION

It better not
This is japan tho, they'd probably build a greenhouse dedicated to cherry blossoms to preserve its culture
I say this as if it were a problem, but this has been happening for ages.
By the way, the previous year the flowers bloomed two weeks before the forecast.
Don't look for a reason every time things don't turn out the way you want them to every year.
Always remember weather fluctuations occur over a wide period of eras. Things evolves and so do trees
Ah no it dosen't disappear
I’d be dead by then.
ill be dead by then
Nah I’ll believe it when I see it. people said orange trees would be gone by 2010 and bananas in 2020.
Sad. I love cherry trees
0:30 ain't she a beauty the middle one particularly ❤
Also, at the rate my baby boy is growing, he will weigh 2 trillion pounds by age 10
I still have time to save up and see.
Forgive my ignorance but, is it possible to save these trees with genetic modifications?
Yes I would presume you could select for ones that require less chilling hours.
Oh yes, you could probably even do manual selection too. Cherry trees are not top priority though, food producing ones will probably be the ones that scientists and countries worry about. Not to mention many citites will have daily floods or flood out completely
They all are modified trees from one particular parent to begin with. The Yoshinos you see in Japan and Washington DC were never natural
Singapore first probably
Are we even on earth at that time…?? We might be living in the outer space… you can get Sakura 🌸 anytime anywhere
Given Japan's population decline, the nation may have half of the population as it has today.
