After nearly 4 months of test driving & comparing the (2020) ES 350 F Sport with the Volvo S 60 r w/ Polestar download, Audi A5 Sportback S Line, and Genesis g80/(loaded) I’ve finally decided on the Lexus. A VERY tough call. Comfort, reliability and initial cost all tilted toward Lexus. I used to think Lexus was an old man’s car...and it is. But now I’m an old man, so there’s that!
From all of your great choices , I bet the only reason you picked up es350 over others is reliability ... There is no way the driving dynamics of es350 are better than your other choices ....
i've only ever owned japanese cars. have had my lexus ct200h 2013 with 70k miles and haven't had one issue, except for a head-light defect. no engine problems.
Umaxen 00 Just get a gs if you're looking for a replacement, the es is nothing but a heavier tarted up Avalon, while the gs is a true luxury sedan that actually feels sporty and feels + drives like a true sports sedan.
Nice exterior and interior. I would buy it but I don’t like the touch pad. It’s very distracting and confusing to use. I’ll stick to idrive or audi’s mmi system. The knob/wheel just works the best with better tactile feedback and not taking your eyes off the road to figure out what you just touched.
They should’ve added some accent trim that breaks up that interior and that shade of black pretty much everywhere in the interior just makes it look bland.
I'm a young buyer. Im all in for the FSport package but does it have a rougher ride than a non FSport model because of the sport tuned suspension? I like a really smooth ride with the looks of the FSport package.
jason brody A platform is literally just the thing the body and equipment is matched too. With that being said all of the material are different, there are features that aren't available in the Avalon and this car was built from the ground up to be a luxury vehicle so it's going to be stiffer, quieter and shift differently.
Lexus Gs is, and always will be, better than the es, which is just a tarted up Avalon, while the gs is a true sports sedan that feels much better to drive, and can do all of the functions the es can do. So do yourselves a favor and just get a gs
As a former 2014 Lexis GS 350F Sport owner, this ES is not a true F Sport, it is front wheel drive. What a disappointment. And who gives a crap about apple and android play! That seems to be what everyone is concerned about.
listen go drive one and you will change your mind on look feel ride price and reliability. all german cars or more or less vw and are over priced not very reliable and we all know american cars suck now. this is your best bet for 36k abd what are you gonna actually get for under 50k thats actually better. none of you drive over 80mph on a consistent basis or over 25miles so dont mention the speed excuse
That black interior does not show well in the video. Maybe it's the lighting, but it does not _look_ premium. Hard touch plastics on the dash in a Lexus!!!??? The design of the dash reminds me of a 1990s Ford Taurus, in a bad way. Pass.
alliejr A lot of cars in this category have hard touch plastics, like BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. ( Atleast that’s what’s Lexus is aiming at) It’s very minimal and I believe it’s meant for easy access to the guts of the infotainment system, but I could be wrong. I do agree this black interior does not do the ES well and looks bland. The red leather option or the beige look significantly better and much more upscale and luxurious. I don’t really see much of the Taurus in this, but hey everyone is welcome to their opinion. I think this car you just need to see and feel in person to get the true gist of it. Videos don’t always do cars justice.
Go and actually look and compare your trashy Ford to Lexus plastic. Lexus plastics are on level with Audi. This is just a sad man with a sad rant. Please do no insult a great car with your insufficient knowledge.
Xenon Kyre Wait, so the ES competes with the 3series? I thought it was the IS that competes in that segment. I thought ES went head to head with the 5 series...what am I missing?
SCM You’re not wrong about that. The IS is Lexus competitor to the 3 series. Recently Lexus said they want this new ES to compete with the 3 series as well as the C Class. It’s odd, cause I don’t think the ES should compete with this segment, but I don’t believe it’s up to the E Class or 5 series. That’s kind of why they have the GS. It’s really not clear on what they’re aiming for. Hopefully they’ll clarify all this.
Xenon Kyre It's odd indeed. Stranger still - I saw a British review of the ES and apparently, its going to replace the GS over there. A mistake on their part; as to your point, the ES isn't inline with the E-class and 5 series. I'm really not sure what Lexus is playing at.
The F Sport design language looks nice and sporty. However, its just an appearance package. Granted that they have a V6, but 0-60 is worse than a 2.0t or their Camry? Cmon, this is SLOW. Please don't tell me "Lexus isn't going for performance" because if that is the case then that means Lexus literally is just selling this package to attract posers.
Well, it does get a "sporty" suspension upgrade to go with all the F-ing bling, so there's that. It's got at least a few hundred pounds on the Camry (since it's really a tarted-up Avalon, and heavier than it too!), so it's not gonna be as fast.
The F-Sport package is similar to the M Sport package, S-line package, and AMG-Line package. These are all mostly about appearance. Lexus actually went one step ahead of the Germans in including a stiffer suspension.
petty shit about the rear seat head room - Sad about ford not making any sedans? Tell me the last time you owned a ford Sedan, thats not a mustang? Give me a break bro - Stop homogenizing your reviews to represent a german car - its not a BMW - its not trying to be - be real!~
Grew up in a family that only bought Toyotas (Reliable, efficient). Graduated, started making some bit of money and decided to upgrade from a 2005 Corolla. "Naturally", I visited the nearest Lexus dealership to take a look at the IS 350. Utter disappointment. Bought an Infiniti G37 sedan instead. Toyota/Lexus === reactive, Everyone else === proactive.
Again, Lexus let everyone in your design department go, I left your brand after 3 Lexus. Can’t deal with these new looks anymore, it’s gotten out of hand. They don’t look good, have you seen the rear of the new LS ? Proportions are off and it looks plain odd. Cars at this price range sell a lot on emotions...Look at them, Ugh. New Cayman in the garage :-)

That color blue though.... amazing
Great review. Thorough without being excessive. Considering buying one of these and this video was very helpful.
i've only ever owned japanese cars. have had my lexus ct200h 2013 with 70k miles and haven't had one issue, except for a head-light defect. no engine problems.
My 2005 ES has 300,000 miles and drives like new. I don't need to add sport mode...
With the GS looking to end soon, this is the only option to once it ends.

Dat Demoman the gs is based on the toyota crown
they aren't meant to be sporty, way too heavy
It's to catch attention of younger buyers like me.
They are trying to compete with mercedes, if they put AWD in this car. Mercedes will be in trouble.
everyone keeps forgetting about the physical heated and cooled seat buttons!!!
turn on concierge mode

Can we get at least a rear wheel drive and 370hp? I’d pick one up quick.
Are these people expecting folded leather and etched glass interior from the LS in the sub-$40,000 ES?
Great car! I think it looks great and have heard it is roomy comfortable and filled with tech and safety features!
It's weird how the ES looks better than the GS inside and out.
They should’ve added some accent trim that breaks up that interior and that shade of black pretty much everywhere in the interior just makes it look bland.
The black interior isn't doing anything for me
my black interior with the bright white exterior. baby girl looks amazing
I'd take The lexus gs. Imo it Looks much better!
It looks really nice. Looks nicer than the ct6
The old model was also very beautiful.
I'm a young buyer. Im all in for the FSport package but does it have a rougher ride than a non FSport model because of the sport tuned suspension? I like a really smooth ride with the looks of the FSport package.
Toronto Canada: Used Hybrid, make model year HP, what couple of choices would you recommend?
fantastic looking Exterior....just make it RWD.
*AWD
I test drove one today. Missing sunglass holder near the rearview mirror, whereas my 2014 Toyota Highlander has it.
Sharp looking car
Black interior make cars look cheap.
0-60 in 6.7 sec? The Avalon which it's based on does it in 6 sec.
The outgoing ES is pretty quiet already and this is even quieter? Jeez
Ux where ??
Any way to make it support android auto
nice front wheel drive v6 camry
CTO Information 🙄🙄
Very cringe
Its based on the same platform of the avalon. So is it any différence between this and avalon
Huy Thai thank you

Avalon backseats can fold down 60/40.
Am I the only one who noticed that some of the indicators for the safety systems are straight out of a Corolla? Come on Lexus get your shit together
it looks good
Beautiful
That black interior looks awful. It looks more like a hazy economy car dark grey

That's why it was discontinued
Oh they got my attention honey. They just moved my focus from the 5 series. Now that's serious
i wished the back seats folded...it would have been 1st time on ES to have folded seats and could have been a breakthrou
No AWD in a Lexus today? Camry roots, huh?
what is up with those knobs up above the dash?
The_HBK_23 it’s like the 300zx Z32 is back !
Very nice

IT'S OKAY. I'M HERE. YOU CAN CONTINUE WATCHING.

gogo!
We dont do that here.
Looks really cheap. Maybe it's just me but that black doesn't look well.
l So cheap they don't even have rear heated seats!
Huy Thai no tti-zone climate control either. All luxury cars sold in U.S. rear heated seats and rear climate control except cheap Lexus.
@@normt5463 you told you that ?, the c class doesn't have rear heated srats
@@gamenigeria but the C-class offers rear wheel drive...
@@normt5463 neither does the e class have rear heated seats.
the red interior looks much better. for 50k it should be faster.....

Ha ha. Sport Plus mode in a front drive car.
Ha ha. Sport and R+ modes on a front drive car.
Have bought 2 Lexus cars in the past, but won't buy one of these. I just can't get past those "cow catcher" grills. Just looks butt ugly to me...
