This is just up the road from me (Alamance Battleground). I learned more from you than from the actual tour of the site. Thank you!

John Wilcox is one of my grandfathers, he was captured in this battle and was one of the leaders of the Regulators. He wasn’t killed by tryon, he escaped and laid low then later in his life made a steel mill that created cannons for the continental army.

I lived 4 miles from Alamance Battleground off Hwy 62. I have been to the site many times. I took my parents to see the video. Both were born and raised in New Bern. They said they read about the battle in school but learned so much when they saw the video.

James "The Regulator" Few was my 6th Great Grandfather, hanged without trial by Tryon on the battlefield of Alamance. His brother William Edward Few went on to raise his two unborn children (twins still in their mothers womb). William Few would become one of the founding fathers, a signatory of the US Constitution, Military Leader and became one of the first two Senators of Georgia.

I wish I could have been a fly on the wall when the regulators issued their response to Tryon's terms, lol. Two thousand birds shot up that day. I've been to Alamance Battleground twice, it's a very serene place now. I went once for a Civil War reenactment I was in, and one for a dig with the State Archaeology Office. We found Revolutionary musket balls still buried in the ground from the battle.

Hi Chris, i am a direct descendant (my 6th Great Grandfather) of James "The Regulator" Few hanged ua-cam.com/video/qHpQUZXYrjk/v-deo.html by Tryon on site after this battle, some say he was the 1st Martyr that lead to the US revolution as we know it... Anyway, i am Australian and have never travelled to to the US even though i have a lot of family history there and i know this is a long shot but reading your story i couldn't help but ask whether i could get a hold of some memorabilia from this battle, it would be overwhelming to hold a piece of history such as this in the family. Would love to hear from you. BTW, love your uploads, my wife is Greek, her family is from Nafpaktos!

I love this video. I sent it to Alamance Battleground today as substitute if the Colonial Week is rained out again. I want to go to Descendent's Day, since my 6xgreat grandparents built that house, and John's sister Amy married Hermon Husband. He was disowned from the Friends for his violence, and none of my Allen's were in that war, but it is a nice part of my family history. I am very lucky that it exists, as well as the Sword of Peace play, what you all can visit, about the Revolution's impact on that community. I have family in that too. The point being, not about me but you - it is something you all can relate to, and if you are of this area, you are probably related as well. Moreover, this is American "hidden history", that you never much hear about, even in college or grad school. In fact, never. Look up some of these places and have fun. God love. Thomas B Allen.
