I love this, North Carolina is a wealth of battle sites. I've only been to Moores Creek NBP but my Scotch Irish Ancestors fought there. My 6th and 7th Great Grandfathers were patriots near Philladelphia.
Great explanation. I live in PA. But my roots go deep in NC in Union and Stanly counties
Be sure to come visit Alamance
Are there any videos that focus on particular individual?? Francis Marion "Swamp Fox"
Excellent visit my wife and I made several years ago. My 6xgreat grand father Enoch Pugh (Welsh ancestry) was one of those hanged, I have a 6x great Enoch Hutchins killed by Indians in his front yard in Kittery Maine, Point is never name your kid "Enoch". By the way there is a list of names in one of the books. You left out the large numbers of Scots and Welsh,
Great presentation.
Reitzel, Athens Alabama
Great video. Keep them coming
love New Bern, a great place to visit.
My great great great grandfather was a captain of this militia, he was disemboweled and hung in front of his family by governor tyron, While in immense pain, he sang out psalms from the Bible before he was dropped to hang. Tremendous courage. I’m a grandson of one of his 7 children.
What was his name?
Who was he? Do you know his name?
Interesting. That would be the only person disemboweled as punishment in the later 18th century British colonies... if its true....
Good video,Battle of Lindley Mill that was in Alamance County in Snow Camp NC do a video on that
I would have liked to see some of the site, not just talking heads in the same place the whole time. Appreciate the history.
Born and raised in Alamance county. My family arrived in New Jersey in 1695, then traveled down from Virginia to the wilderness of Ashe County. Did my family fight in the Regulator movement...unknown.
Great Show, David from Costa Rica
I’m a descendant apparently of one of the Ringleaders, Major Thomas Lloyd. He was not well liked in that area but somehow didn’t lose his property and he lived around there until after the Revolution
What would be the single best book on the Regulator War for someone wanting to learn more please?
North Carolina is a great place for history buff like myself,,,,,I love Virginia but NC has a lot to offer for both major wars,,,,
Not the first battle of American Revolution.
Sure the hardwood trees would have been used to build ships... maybe you could explore how the local resources were used to fight the Revolution. Iron production, powder, etc? Wars are fought on logistics.
I guess all those sirens were police cars engaged in the search for Garry.
Can you cover the important role that women, African-Americans and transgender people played in the Battle of Alamance?
What?
