Guldaniel betrayed the orc and because of him they ended mindcontoled and invaded Azeroth. Then his alternate version brough back Illidan and gave us the Legion expansion. I would've swapped Gul'dan for Kael'thas. Kael'thas is kind of a tragic character guilty of "doing the wrong things for the right reasons." Garrosh as well to an extent, but it took it too far with the mana bomb. Gul'dan was just a wicked, vindictive monster who just craved power above all else.
I can understand the lack of Ragnaros as his over all story isn't as in depth or anything as some of the ones that made this list, but I feel he deserves an honorable mention as He is an Iconic villan from wow and considered one of the best raid fights both times he appeared.
I feel like it's way too early to have iridikron on here. Sure he's off to a good start but with alot of these other villains we have seen the culmination of their work (or attempted work). For all we know iridikrons plan could be dumb end up falling flat on its face
Gul’dan damned his whole race for the sake of power and also creates the first death knights ever made. There is no redeeming qualities of Gul’dan and is arguably the most evil of all the villains on the list. Considering he willingly chose power for the sake of it. Also willing to throw people under the bus to achieve his goals. Unlike half of them had tragic stories or they think what their doing is right. Or inherently evil beings. Gul’dan is none of that and willingly chose to be evil.
it feels like either AI was used a lot to write the script or a new writer worked on it, it could also be both. I've been watching the "x hours of lore to fall asleep to" and a lot of other older content and they feel more genuine. The script repeats itself way too much and delivers information weirder than the older videos.
I feel like Sylvanis should have been on this list. She makes her impact known over the entire series and is responsible for some the greatest changes in the world. I wonder if we will ever fight Galakronde or the full might of Sargaras.
Great video, effort and story telling. However, I can't disagree with others in the comments - Gul'dan and Illidan (the latter being kind of a double-edged sword) should definitely make the list along with some others. Maybe a part two? Or a Top 20 list instead?
Blizzard needed a reason for players facing him in a raid, even against the logic of his lore... all W3 players never understood his silly vilain transformation
I'm tempted to believe this is a Christmas gift joke or something not properly conceived... most famous villains list without Guldan, Kil'jaeden, Kel'thuzad... what madness is this....
Raszageth was pretty good for someone who came out of nowhere. She was un-apologetically set in her ways and she let nothing stop her to complete her mission. Vyranoth and Fyrakk were a big step down after her
More iconic? Possibly. But he is not cooler than Denathrius. The latter became such a fan favorite that Blizzard changed a lot of the story to keep him in, which is one of the better things to come out of the Shadowlands. The voice acting is top notch and the feel and design of the character is translated even into the fight more than almost any other characters.
whats wrong with Azshara ruling though? from all the events so far the only things that make her "evil" is who she allies with in order to preserve her vision or ideals of being a top dog queen. To some extent she might not "love" her people but she cares for them because she wants their affections and adoration as their queen. She wasnt killing her people or torturing them or anything wild she just wanted love and adoration and power but really she took care of her kingdom
List is way wrong. 10) Mal’ganis 9) Kil'jaeden 8) Ner'zhul 7) Sylvanas 6) Death Wing 5) Gul'dan 4) Azshara 3) Old Gods 2) Sargeras 1) Arthas (who should have had a better ending)
WoW needs to heavily focus on Xal'atath, Iridikron, Azshara and Denathrius in the future. Those four are by far the best villains of modern WoW and all of them are well writen characters, not like the mess Zovaal was.
Arthas, Deathwing, Illidan, Kael'thas, Garrosh, Azshara and Sylvanas are all villains with one common trait that makes them more interesting than all of the straightforward villains: They're all fallen heroes. Arthas is one of my favorite fallen hero stories.
Gul'dan not being on the list seems like a crime. He has been a staple and one of the best written and explored villains in all of Warcraft with a history so long that only a hand full of other villains can even compete. He was such a major player that Illidan even kept his skull the first time around. Without Gul'dan, the orcs and Dranei don't end up on Azeroth. Without Gul'dan so many more of the key events that are foundational to Warcraft's history and world building simply don't happen. And that's not even counting the major events put into motion by Alternate timeline Gul'dan in WoD and Legion.
Sadly there will never be another villain like Arthas. The reason he is loved is his character was built over the course of many incredible years of writing in both Warcraft 3 and the world of warcraft. He was humanized so well and was so easily relatable to yet he was such a strong character that did anything necessary for his people, even what some would consider atrocities. I have honestly always wondered what the world of warcraft would look like if Arthas never found frostmourne and had become the king of Lorderon one day. He would probably become an even greater king of the alliance than Varian
you honestly could have out "orcs" because of how much impact the orc races has had. from nerzhul being the OG lich king and corrupting arthas to guldan opening the dark portal (the first time) and then alternate guldan. You got garrosh blackhand with sacking stormwind.
Archimonde and Nerzhul should be on this list. Primarily because they were the ones bringing the Legion and the Void respectively into the modern history of Azeroth and Draenor.
Interesting, I would've had Sargeras #1 and Arthas #2. I absolutely love Arthas and his story is what I spent so many hours playing WC3 however Sargeras is THE big bad. The mastermind behind countless different things. Shadowlands will absolutely not ever be counted in my books with the bullshit they tried to pull of "hurrdurr things that have been happening since WC3"
“has managed to create iconic characters that last for years to come” [30 seconds later] “From design to purpose Iridikron has stapled himself into wow for many years to come”
I also really love Kale'thas, i felt bad for him in warcraft III with his home destroyed and garithos being a jerk. I really didn't like how shadowlands reused him and changed him along with lady vashj
Feels like a lot of those top wow villain lists are quite a bit reliant on nostalgia. As someone who hasn’t played back in Wotlk I never really understood why the Lichking would be number one … yes he is a good villain, has some understandable … kinda … motivations and some interesting interactions during the expansion experience. However I feel like characters such as Azshara, Deathwing or potentially even Garrosh had a much bigger impact on me. Also yeah, I know it’s a hot take … but I just prefer these villains that have a longer history and more visibility on game.
To be fair Illidan is more of an anti hero and they didn’t really didn’t do a great job setting him up as the big bad in BC. But yes I too was kinda hoping to see him on the list.
Gul'dan not being here makes this list the stupidest thing I've watched in a while, and it speaks volumes since this is Hirumaredx. Gul'dan orchestrated so many events in the lore, not once but TWICE. Fucking Illidan wouldn't be who he is without GUL'DAN'S Skull. Gul'dan brought the orcs and draenei to Azeroth e.t.c. I could go on and on but not having him at top 3,let alone not at all on this list is insultingly bad, it's like spitting on the face of the lore.
@@Amateracu1991DFFOO I mean Illidan was always pretty power hungry its a stretch to say he would be much different with or without the skull of Guldan. But yeah it does play an important part to his history. Medivh/Sargaras are honestly the one's responsible from bringing the Orcs to Azeroth though, Guldan was just an pawn. That said I agree he earned himself a spot on the list and a pretty high one at that.
I started to watch it kind of worried of who would be the first :)) but Undoubtedly, Arthas. Very good list. I just wondered whether Illidan would be present; but I understand your criteria
His criteria are bogus, otherwise Gul'dan would've been in the top 3, except he didn't even put him on the list. Speaking of Illidan, he wouldn't even be where he is now without GUL'DAN'S Skull.
@@Amateracu1991DFFOO good point. However, I would not put neither Gul'dan nor Denathrius in the list; instead I'd put The Jailor -- he is the one that architected the Burning Legion and the Lich King, and inflicted (almost) all the evil upon Azeroth. But I liked the list nevertheless
The fact that Gul’dan isn’t on this list is a joke, and Kael’thas never should’ve been a villain. TBC’s writing was all over the place and deserves a lot more hate but gets a pass for its age.
Garrosh is one of my favorite characters ever, not just villains. I mean really how many villains can you make a meme video about them having "done nothing wrong" and have a not insignificant number of people actually AGREE despite it being satirical? I legitimately still feel bad for Garrosh every time I hear his line in his final cinematic "you made me what I am..." because, really, he's right. Thrall may have thought he was doing what was right with Garrosh but Thrall KNEW Grommash, how impulsive and obsessed with honor he was, and should've known his son was likely to be similar, but he never really gave him the guidance nor the time to grow before suddenly making him warchief. Garrosh wasn't manipulated into doing all his villanous stuff, so it's not like Thrall can be held responsible for it, but he played such a big role in how Garrosh came to be who he was that it always seemed like a lie when Thrall just denies his role after Garrosh's "you made me what I am" line.
Guessing before watching in no particular order: Kel Thuzad Kael thas Aszhara, Arthas/lich king Illidan (anti hero/anti villain) Sylvanas Kil Jaedan Guldan N'zoth (if we want to call old gods villains and not evil manifestations of nature) Deathwing/Neltharion Illidan could be replaced with ragnaros, onyxia, or nefarian as classics. Iridikron if we want a newer villain Honorable mention: xavius and lei shen Dishonorable mention: Zo val/jailer Edit: Sargeras i can respect, although kil jaeden and guldan had more direct impact. (Not counting the sword, which was the only hamds on contribution) I could see denathrius or lei shen replacing kel thuzad, the latter for being so badass and thr former for being another mustache twirling manipulative villain. Garrosh was an asshole but he was only forced into villainy by blizzard due to people not liking him. Personal opinion. I see where youre coming from
The only reason half of the crap had happened to Arthas was bc of his father, King Terenas. Terenas doubted Arthas in his younger years, even forbidding him from training to fight. It took someone else, Muradin i believe, to persuade the King to allow his son to be combat trained. Arthas also felt as lesser warrior after meeting Varian when they were young bc Varian started combat training at the very young age. Varian, ofc, bested his royal friend in sparring. TLDR; due to his father’s attitude & death of Invincible, Arthas always pushed himself to prove his strength and capabilities to others bc of seeds of self-doubt planted in him by his father. Arthas was also very impressionable- he killed his father in the same manner as Varian’s father, King Llane, was killed. Varian’s tale of the encounter made such an impression on Arthas that Varian’s voice echoed in his head whenever he came to… relive his dad of royal duty. Terenas by complete misunderstanding of his son’s personality essentially crippled his confidence and made him an easy target for corruption. Dad of the decade! I don’t even consider Arthas a villain, he is an anti-hero since he was a victim of circumstances staged by other people. Lich King is the villain, but not Arthas
Dude, it is an insult to the lore and history of warcraft not having Gul'dan in this video, not just on the list, but top 5. Gul'dan is one of the most chaotic evil characters in the lore and he orchestrated so many events, TWICE. And as for his legacy, it's Illidan himself since without the skull of the first Gul'dan, Illidan would've been on a different path most probably.
Never gonna let go how Garrosh Hellscreams actions after he broke free lead to Gul'dan returning which lead to Legion which then lead to BFA, Shadowlands, etc etc. Moral of the story is... It's all Hellscreams fault which one... yes
I think the old gods should be lower on the list. They are cool but the problem is how they are executed in their planning, the moment they take their time to shine and break out of their prison they just immediately get defeated, and their entire history is just them losing a lot.
Kaelthas was more of an anti-hero. I'd even put the Jailer and Sylvanas above him, regarding villainous traits. Guldan should have been on here... And in the top 5 IMO

Communication issues and having The Burning Crusade be told through the players rather than knowing we played Warcraft 3 and illidian is really cool though. But never a villain, dude has his priorities set but would never ever put people or his people in harms way. Fuck Akama and Maiev.
Illidan isn’t a villain…
Gul’dan not being on the list is literally a glimpse into modern WoW players minds. They won’t even know who Arthas is in 10 years.
Azshara deserved a whole expansion, not just a patch (with a playable faction of Naga).
I don't see the naga being playable. Boots and pants and mounting are going to be a huge issue.
With the Dracthyr out and how shitty they made their armour visible in their draconic form, I can see them doing the same with the naga and just have them equipped but not visible at all. How they mount is still going to be an issue tho, unless they make them look extremely silly and call it a day.
She was not killed off and the Naga were not defeated, they still exist as a threat and she stil reigns in Nazjatar. Blizzard did something good by not killing off a villain right away.
Now that N'zoth is gone, she can have it, problem was, she could not have it while N'zoth was around.
@@Maniaman213while Nazjatar is still under the waves and probably healed 100% after the events of BfA with the zone also cleansed from N’zoths influence. Azshara isn’t on Azeroth anymore. She’s somewhere fighting against the void. She’ll prob return in Midnight
There is actively no reason why Guldan and Kil’jaeden aren’t on this list. Guldan ACTIVELY is the one that pulled the legion to Azeroth and is one of the most ICONIC villains of all time. Kil’jaeden is the reason Arthus even exists.
The reazon is Hiru has a big bonner for Lei Shen and Iridrikon. There you go. Id tahe those 2 and put KJ and Guldaniel in. Both did WAY more and are way more important and remembered. Guldan is literaly the reazon we had the Legion Expansion and KJ was a boss not once, but twice in a raid, not to mention their impact on the lore. Also KJ should probably be mentioned with Archmonde... i mean Archy did destroy Dalaran, made it so Malfurion had to sacrifice the world tree, and we had to fight him twince in wow... Once i the original world tree fight and the then in Draenor in the WoD expansion... But NO, a mogu that appeared in 1 patch has to be in this list and a dragon that has yet to actualy do something other then be threatening in a couple cinematics, and a meh boss in a dungeon, a 5 man...
@@josejuanandrade4439 at that's the impressive part lei-shan existed for only 1 patch and managed to be still a good villain. and of iridikron... it's too early to judge
@@jointser1008 Oh not saying he wasnt impressive or that is a bad character at all. What i am saying is that the other villains overweight them for a lot. As good as Iridrikon may turn out to be, or how good Leishen was, they don't touch on the likes of Guldaniel and KJ , oh and Archmonde.
Guldaniel betrayed the orc and because of him they ended mindcontoled and invaded Azeroth. Then his alternate version brough back Illidan and gave us the Legion expansion. Og Guldan's skull was more important to the lore then the whole Leishen was in the end.
At the moment Fyrakk has more accomplishements and has had a bigger presence then Iridrikon. And yes i know... Iridrikon will probably amount to more and he got to live to another expansion... but his impact is still yet to be seen. You know what i mean? All we've seen is that he is imponent, that he hates the Titans and that at least has an understandable goal, but this all are atributes that his siblings all have as well. Besides draining Galakrond's essence and hand it to Xala'tath, Iridrikon hasnt realy done anything at all.
@@josejuanandrade4439 I agree Gul'Dan and especially kil'jaeden should be on the list. But at the same time I don't mind lei-shen. But since iridikrons story isn't told I would replace him with KJ. I personally prefer KJ over Gul'Dan.

Keep up these videos my guy!
No Gul'dan or Kil'Jaeden?? Common this is a redo
I can understand the lack of Ragnaros as his over all story isn't as in depth or anything as some of the ones that made this list, but I feel he deserves an honorable mention as He is an Iconic villan from wow and considered one of the best raid fights both times he appeared.
No Gul’dan nor Kil’jaeden?
Or Illidan?
@@adron2485Kel’Thuzad. Illidan I don’t think should be on here
@@devincampbell5007 fair he's not exactly a villain after all
I feel like it's way too early to have iridikron on here. Sure he's off to a good start but with alot of these other villains we have seen the culmination of their work (or attempted work). For all we know iridikrons plan could be dumb end up falling flat on its face
What about tattoo swol valdemort? He's behind everything, and therefore, we must love him
Gul’dan damned his whole race for the sake of power and also creates the first death knights ever made.
How dirty Arthas was done in the Sepulcher of the First Ones is one of Shadowland's many low points :/
You did well with this thumbnail, good sir.
Great video! Wish you could have fit kelthuzad in there somehow! But I enjoyed it still!
It was a bad video full of L takes
Nobody asked.
it feels like either AI was used a lot to write the script or a new writer worked on it, it could also be both.
I'll never understand why they turned Kael into a villain
Blizzard needed a reason for players facing him in a raid, even against the logic of his lore... all W3 players never understood his silly vilain transformation
Well as a Warcraft 3 fan, it’s not hard to see him turning evil considering he was following Illidan, who was serving Kil Jaeden.
I agree, but him choosing to serve KJ has less sense
Indirectly it was KJ who put him in that situation.@@arthas5270
Great points on the list, some of which I never thought of.
However... I feel that Gul'dan should've gone on the list over Denathrius.
Damn not even an honorable mention for old Kel’Thuzad? The guy created the plague and was Arthas’s right hand man.
Love these videos. But for real though… where the hell is Gul’dan??
The list is missing Hogger
Arthas is definitely the most iconic WoW villain :)
my list would have also had Illidan. :D
Great video! Garrosh wasn’t a villain though, he is my warchief.
I'm tempted to believe this is a Christmas gift joke or something not properly conceived... most famous villains list without Guldan, Kil'jaeden, Kel'thuzad... what madness is this....
Illidan should have definitely been on the list
well we have azshara and kael from this trio also lich king too much i think
id argue Guldan more than illidan
Illidan isn't a villain though. He's a hero.
Raszageth was pretty good for someone who came out of nowhere. She was un-apologetically set in her ways and she let nothing stop her to complete her mission. Vyranoth and Fyrakk were a big step down after her
100% but she can't make the list being a one patch character, imo.
Denathrius did@@Krulfar

Where's Hogger? The top villain to low level alliance.
Gul’dan absolutely
23:51 old dods lol
Where's Gul'dan?
Kel’thuzad is a much more iconic villain than Iridikron and Denathrius
also waay older lol.
@@kostasrh9529 True KT is cool but denathrius was top notch one of the few good things from shadowlands.
whats wrong with Azshara ruling though? from all the events so far the only things that make her "evil" is who she allies with in order to preserve her vision or ideals of being a top dog queen. To some extent she might not "love" her people but she cares for them because she wants their affections and adoration as their queen. She wasnt killing her people or torturing them or anything wild she just wanted love and adoration and power but really she took care of her kingdom
Yeah.. decent list, but i think we absolutely take Kael off the list, might also take off number 9 or 10 and include Gul'dan and Kil'jaeden
Yeah BC lore as a whole did all the main bosses dirty
Gul'dan should be top 3 without a question. It's probably the only bad guy without ANY redeeming qualities
List is way wrong.
10) Mal’ganis 9) Kil'jaeden 8) Ner'zhul 7) Sylvanas 6) Death Wing 5) Gul'dan 4) Azshara 3) Old Gods 2) Sargeras 1) Arthas (who should have had a better ending)
One thing I'll concede is WoW has a lot of memorable villains, unfortunately most of them are from the first 5ish years of this 20 year old game.
22:59 What is this addon that shows received damage/effects beside the character with that fancy font? thanks in advance
Gul'dan would like a word. Good video though!
Lol how you used the fan animation instead of ig cinematic for garrosh 😂nice
Archimonde and Nerzhul should be on this list. Primarily because they were the ones bringing the Legion and the Void respectively into the modern history of Azeroth and Draenor.
Interesting that Kil’jaeden, Archimonde and Illidan were all omitted from the list.
The Jailer is the real mastermind, everything that has ever happened is all according to his master plan
@@dogswifty7800 shadowlands never happened
Anyone else get the feeling the script for this video was made with AI? Feel like he talks so much more generically than he used to
“has managed to create iconic characters that last for years to come”
[30 seconds later]
“From design to purpose Iridikron has stapled himself into wow for many years to come”
Yea the script sounds a lot like it doesn't really know what wow is and talks like a bad gaming article that list top 10 of stuff for clicks.
This has no doubt been said before, but no Illidan?
Wait you add a spot for that dragon guy that was invented in this expansion but not Gul dan? Kiljaiden?
I already know who is top badass villan and i just started the video😂
Not having Xavius or Gul'Dan is nuts. Kil'Jaeden, Mannoroth.
Just came back from Aquaman, can't believe they ripped off Lich King.
No Guldan wow. Also garrosh is not a villain cuz he did nothing wrong
Queen Azshara is my easy favorite, she's so pretty and heroic for saving her city. I wish we could work for her and become naga someday
Garrosh is strongly misrepresented. Hes belongs on santas nice list
Where is Elisande?
elisande sucked
I mean Gul'Dan is the OG villian. Sylvanas could also be argued even above Deathwing imo.
the fact Sylvanas is not on this list makes me forgive the fact that Garrosh is on it.
can you do a video about old gods pre-retcon? xd
Illidan not being here is bananas.
To be fair Illidan is more of an anti hero and they didn’t really didn’t do a great job setting him up as the big bad in BC.
But yes I too was kinda hoping to see him on the list.
@@BigHeadClan that's fair.
Iridikron is certainly interesting but id have knocked him into soecial mentions for guldan
If Gunther Arcanis isnt on this list ima lose it
The fact that Gul’dan isn’t on this list is a joke, and Kael’thas never should’ve been a villain.
But where is Gul'Dan
If shadowland story was revisited and better explained the promis could easily be on that list
XD Jailer aint here when he influenced each entity xD
I really miss the Humble music in the background while talking
Sargeras needs to come back and destroy us all.
0th place Bobby FFing Codick (yes i know thats not the way you write it thx)
The overall hero and villain for each race throughout their respective history
Not having, Gul'dan, Kil'Jaden, Archimonde, Mal'Ganis, KELTHUZARD(!!!), or Manneroth is a crime
Guessing before watching in no particular order:
Kel Thuzad
Kael thas
Aszhara,
Arthas/lich king
Illidan (anti hero/anti villain)
Sylvanas
Kil Jaedan
Guldan
N'zoth (if we want to call old gods villains and not evil manifestations of nature)
Deathwing/Neltharion
Illidan could be replaced with ragnaros, onyxia, or nefarian as classics. Iridikron if we want a newer villain
Honorable mention: xavius and lei shen
Dishonorable mention: Zo val/jailer
Edit: Sargeras i can respect, although kil jaeden and guldan had more direct impact. (Not counting the sword, which was the only hamds on contribution)
I could see denathrius or lei shen replacing kel thuzad, the latter for being so badass and thr former for being another mustache twirling manipulative villain.
Lich King is the villain, but not Arthas
no gul'dan? i mean i know it's not popular, but the jailer had also to be on that list as well as nerzuhl
Choosing Iridikron over Gul'dan, Kill'jaeden, Mal'ganis or Kel'thuzad.. interesting choice
Never gonna let go how Garrosh Hellscreams actions after he broke free lead to Gul'dan returning which lead to Legion which then lead to BFA, Shadowlands, etc etc. Moral of the story is... It's all Hellscreams fault which one... yes
agree with number one . i think its blasphemous not having sylvanas and guldan
Im really wondering how Sylvanas Windrunner and Gul'dan dont make this list.
ner'zhul the frist lich, the first lich. He was the first orc to come into contact with the Legion, creating the Horde that then invaded Azeroth. Ultimately it was he who destroyed Dreanor.
That’s been slightly retconed so that guldan was in contact with the legion first even using fel to destroy his first clan
