Did you hear what just happened at the Paris Olympics? Simone Biles, the most decorated U.S. gymnast in history, just dropped a bombshell on Instagram that has everyone talking. In a post celebrating Team USA's gold medal win, she took a direct shot at her former teammate MyKayla Skinner, who had previously criticized the team’s talent and work ethic. The caption read, "Lack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions." What could have sparked such a fierce response from the usually composed Biles?

Skinner has zero team medals. She was never on the official Olympic team. In 2016 Rio she was an alternate and in 2020 Tokyo she was a specialist member. Gymnastics was weird in the 2020 Olympics because the teams were only allowed to have 4 members and on the side they were allowed to have 2 extra members who were not on the team but could compete in their specialty. So Skinner competed on vault after Simone dropped out and she won an individual silver medal, her only Olympic medal. I know sounds confusing but bottom line is Skinner was never on the official Olympic team and never won a team medal. I believe she still resents that and has a major chip on shoulder about that fact. That’s why she’s so petty and jealous of the current team.

This is not the first time Mykayla open her mout and stuck her foot in it. In Rio she would have been better to just stay mute. Ahe kept having to double back. And her comments about Gabby, and that photoshopped picture. She has a better than everyone else complex that has never quite been adjusted. Her additide made it very difficult for me to enjoy her gymnastics, even though she was a good athlete.

Make sure criticism is thought out very carefully and the purpose of the message before making bold statements. People are using social media for mouth diarrhea without thinking through the intent, purpose and consequences which leads to misunderstanding, hate and discourse in our society. Now more than ever hate in society is boiling over causing rifts in our families, friends and neighbors. Please think before you post on social media, speak at an event or any platform that will influence thousands of people. Once you speak, there is no going back….I understand the ladies in the gymnastics team had every right to feel betrayed, hurt and angry, and should call out bad behavior. However, I hope at some point forgiveness can happen, and lessons can be learned so bitterness can be let go and all can have a peaceful life again.
