So far you're the only person I've found that's tested this bike MX. I personally prefer mullet/MX bikes and I'm really interested in how this bike performs that way. Thank you!
Awesome review and awesome video, as usual. You deserve so many more subscribers! The video quality aside, your level of riding also amazing, which gives me even more confidence in you words. I got my V3 sentinel frame the other day and Transition have you to thank for that sale.
Such a sick review! Really appreciate the comparison to the smuggler and other Tr bikes. They both appear to versatile but you helped to clarify where they overlap and where they differ. Super interesting that the 36 was more capable the Lyrik. Was is ultimate vs factory level? And yes to brake jack on some previous Trs…
Thanks for another great review. Good to see you compare this to the Smug. Gotta' say I think the Smug is the sweet spot for a trail bike. Hoping Transition does not add in frame storage to the next Smug. While some may think this is moving backwards an externally routed, no glovebox, sub-6.5# Smug frame, that can flip to MX, would separate them in the market from most others.
Great review and thanks for testing this in the mx. Owned the v6 nomad and felt unstable at speed.l so went back to an enduro. Probably more sizing than anything. Have a sentinel building right now.
@NICADV complement the enduro. Enduro is basically dh park now at 180/180. Needed something capable but still fun. Think the sentinel hits those marks.
It’s interesting how it seems like most reviews for this bike seem pretty good except for the pink bike review. I think you eluded to the same issue they were having, in steeps feeling like you were being pushed forward. They attributed it to the longer chain stays/rear center but it might be a Lyrik vs 36 issue. I’ve got a xt build on order to we’ll see. Did you generally prefer it in mx or 29?
Great review. Pink bike I guess didn't like that bike so much. Have you ridden the Pivot Firebird? I just got one and it's amazing. I'm 57 and ride a medium and the geometry numbers look scary for the reach but it fits like a glove super comfortable. I'd be curious to see your impression. I had a Hightower before that and love that bike, just wanted a little more plush ness
Thanks, not in a while so I'm not sure if I've ridden the current bike. They don't seem to have much of a presence in this area, but if I could find someone I'd be down to check it out.
Great review man. So, I have a sb140 and i have been stuck on it. How would you compare them? Would it be worth loosing a grand selling my frame and switching to the Sentinal? I live in TX and travel to Bentonville so your terrain is much steeper than mine but we have tons of freeride style jumps.
The Patrol is a fair bit more playful. It jumps better and still climbs very well. I like the high front end for jumping and it's really fun in the corners. I would also recommend trying it out as a mullet. It's more stable as a 29er, but more fun in the air as a mullet.
I was surprised at the difference. I had been riding the new Bronson with the 36 up in Whistler and all over my area without think about it, but once I got on the new Sentinel with the Lyrik the difference in stiffness was glaringly obvious.
@ I have read that…. I immediately swapped out my to 160 from 150 so I got new oil and what I have been reading the proper amount of oil for the lyric, so far feels good.

@@MrGourd I’ve also been preferring Mx bikes as of late, so I was stoked they let me keep it for a bit.

Thanks so much for the nice words!

Thank you, It was the ultimate vs the performance elite with the Grip x2 damper.

Thanks! Agree to disagree about the glovebox, but everything else you're spot on, I would also like to see an alloy frame set option.

Nice it's a super fun bike. Are you building it to complement the Enduro or replace it?

@@brianleal5966 that makes sense

I think the longer rear could be part of it, but setup mx helped. My preference for what I ride and this area is setup mx with the Fox 36.

@NICADV Jensons might send you one to Demo since you work with them
What bike would you prefer over 5010 vs Smuggler. I have a megatower and looking for a 2nd bike to add. Thanks
I went 5010 because I prefer the mullet setup.I use the 5010 almost as a dirt jumper. If I wanted dual 29 it would be the Smuggler or Evil Following.

wow such a difficult terrain you charge !
Thanks, it's the whole reason I moved here!
The 36 over the Lyrik ? Interesting

This is basically a Patrol, no?
It’s a little longer and slightly longer chain stays in the mullet config
Yes kinda of, I think it lays the ground work for a new Patrol and I'm excited to see what that looks like.
