Calatrava's work gives me the same sense of satisfaction I get when looking at a section thru a Gothic cathedral or at the works of a number people, a few are Gaudi, Nervi, Maillart & Candela.
Aaah Calatrava, as a Trekkie I can say nothing is more like the star trek future us Trekkie want than Calatrava's buildings. Walking inside those organic white halls he makes is just like being at Federation Academy.
@MicMeDi I worked in Fernando and Bernardo Tavora's office. I had friends that worked for Alvaro Siza Vieira. Both great architects. I am also close with an architect in Porto called Paulo Lousinha.
Hi Pat, love your videos. I have a question for you. I've been wanting to become an architect for quite some time. I try my best at my designs and ideas. However, my only problem is that I'm not amazing at math. It's not like I hate math either, I actually like it to an extent. I just have hard times understanding schoolwork sometimes. But anyways, I wanna ask if the work of an architect is based more around mathematics and calculations, or more around problem solving. Keep up the good work! :D
Hi! I'm from Portugal! Do you know Siza Vieira or others Portuguese Architects? could you give your opinion about them? It would be good to know the opinion from an American. You, people, rules the world in every thing! thank you!
@robbetheunis I would like to see taht too. Good suggestion. Rudolph Schindler spoke a lot about his former teacher's raumplan and it influenced his work.
what about Frank Lloyd Wright? I am a student at Taliesin, and I know more than most the mixed information around the man (he is one of the hardest to understand because of his seemingly contradictory writings/philosophy and his buildings), but he definitely deserves a video. Good luck!
Do you have any advice on what schools to go too? Please make a video about that i would really apreciate that Oh and at 0:34 IS THAT SINGAPORE???????????????????????????? I LIVE ON SINGAPORE :P
Calatrava is the male counterpart of Zaha Hadid. I love them both. In my own personal taste, on the scale of 1-10, zaha is 9.8, and calatrava is 11, just sayin :)
My dream is to practice professionally as both architect and engineer. Im an undergraduate Civil Engineering student, has anyone heard of the concurrent MSc Structural Eng / MArch program? Will this path lead to a career in both fields simultaneously?
Do you have any advice on what schools to go too? Please make a video about that i would really apreciate that Oh and at 0:34 IS THAT SINGAPORE???????????????????????????? I LIVE ON SINGAPORE :P AND 1:48 is in sweden wich i was born in WOWOWOWWO
Nice designs, useless for people. This is the reality about Calatrava's brand and how his project's budgets are barely respected e.g. CAACC in Valencia from 175.000.000 € to 1.200.000.000 € and still not finished. Anyway not a hater at all. This guy has just good touch with political figures.
you're a hero and inspiration! Calatrava combines function and aesthetics in a very artistic manner
Calatrava's work gives me the same sense of satisfaction I get when looking at a section thru a Gothic cathedral or at the works of a number people, a few are Gaudi, Nervi, Maillart & Candela.
