  • Karan Adani, the Managing Director of Adani Ports, expressed confidence in completing all four phases of the Vizhinjam Port in Kerala by 2028-29. His remarks came during an event where Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan welcomed the Chinese cargo vessel 'San Fernando' at the Vizhinjam international sea port.
Adani highlighted significant challenges faced during the project, particularly sourcing stones for the breakwater. He noted with satisfaction that the breakwater is now complete, and there are sufficient resources to proceed with phases 2 and 3 of the port development.
Speaking about the project's progress, Adani mentioned, "After our public hearing, we are receiving support from the community and stakeholders, which gives us confidence." He further disclosed that Adani Ports plans to invest an additional Rs 20,000 crores for the construction of the remaining three phases of the port.
This commitment underscores Adani Ports' optimism and determination to overcome past challenges and complete the ambitious Vizhinjam Port project within the stipulated timeline, aiming to enhance Kerala's maritime infrastructure significantly.
