I bought a new walker this year. I wouldn’t say it’s perfect in every way but it is a very good mower. Here our customers require we bag everything. For you guys that are used to discharging, if you ran a walker your customers would be amazed at the cut quality difference. The walker is literally like a giant vacuum and it leaves the lawn looking incredible. I could control my walker perfectly in a day at most. Easy to learn. Biggest advantage is the deck out front, allows you to go around things easily, you can go rigjt up and under fences, shrubs, etc. The box is amazing. My 48 inch deck allows me to get through some narrow areas. If I had a collection system with a tube and bags I couldn’t get through most gates.

I'm almost 99% sure I had that same one as a demo this past Monday at one of my lawns doing a final cleanup. It really blew me away and I'm now a believer that any serious lawn care business owner should seriously consider purchasing one. It did 3 hours of work in under 90 minutes! The integrated GHS system is awesome! I suppose the only downside is the price but if you're wanting to get your business to maintaining premium lawns and charging a premium price then you have to have a premium mower to do it. Also a huge thank you to heartland tractor in Harrisonville MO for helping me get my hands on one, I will be buying a walker in 2018 no doubt about it.

Been running a Walker and a Dixie Chopper for years. The Walker I only use mainly in the Fall/Winter with leaves. In the Fall/Winter I run Gator blades and they make a huge difference in the mulching. If you can find them try some Gators on the Walker they cut down the dumping big time. What I do a lot of times is run over the leave with the Chopper and use the Walker to run over and finish the lawn sucking up what debris is left, doing this cuts the leaves down a ton I also will leave the hopper open and run over the leaves and let them shoot out the rear then close it and sweep them up that saves some dumping times.Takes a little extra time but the yard looks good and clean when done.

Where you double cut with the Scag, you can single cut with the Walker. Scag makes a great machine, but if you are going to bag there is nothing else that even compares.

Good video buddy. Exmark, toro, and scag have all made bagging style mowers yet walker continues to produce and sell many units. Walker makes a great machine. The area I service doesn’t require much catching during the summer months but I like spotless lawns. The major downfalls that I have found with a walker is the ability to handle slopes and the seat. A bucket seat would be a nice addition. It would decrease sliding around on the seat while on slopes. Can’t beat the 40 or so grease fittings, you can make sure everything is greased properly.
Check out accelerator grass catchers. Made from aluminum!

GrassHopper had or still has a mid mount style mowers with the rear hopper and powervac system worked well for leaf clean ups. The one I used to work with had the 72' deck man you could cut some grass with that bad boy.

Looks great! I have always wanted to try out a walker. They look interesting. Just curious, would the one set up with the mulching deck be able to clean that up in 2 passes 90 degrees to each other instead of the bagger unit coming behind it? I can typically just mulch with my exmark vantage by making 2 passes opposite of each other.

I see that same argument a lot about mowers sitting for a portion of the year, but the fact is that If you buy attachments- say a snow blower or snow blade -for that Walker you still have to transport it to the job. Its the same argument for Ventrac (the ventrac being a small tractor rather than a collection mower) users as well, anyone who does snow management knows you can't trailer in the snow. All the other attachments are used during the same period as the cutting deck. These types of machines work for Campgrounds, Villages, land owners, where they don't require transport. So the real question is what do these machines do BETTER than any given purpose built machine. Cause paying a premium for the "option" of using Snow Blower seems like a tough sell to me. Is the 14k price for the 48? For comparisons sake one of my 60inch Exmarks Lazer Z with a bagging unit is a touch over 16k. I have a local trailer company make me brackets to mount my walk behind blowers on the fronts that cost me $350+1500 for the blower. What would a blower attachment cost for the Walker? 2-4k? Like others have said that style of mower is love or hate, I had a Navigator years back and I hated it, the controls, the fixed deck, it had a very bulky lumbering feel.

But the price of them are crazy plus maintanance is a pain.

I own a couple Walker mowers. Where they really shine is on medium sized properties where you want a clean and professional finish. They pick up everything making leaf cleanup a breeze. Under the circumstances of this demo I would have just blown the leaves with a couple backpacks to the woods then finished with the walker, faster. But with a quarter to a half acre yard covered in leaves, we blow out all the leaves onto the grass and the Walker picks them all up very quickly. They do have some drawbacks, one is price, it’s too high I think. Second is you have to get off the mower to adjust the deck and it’s a real PITA. Third, the PTO has to be greased weekly and you have to remove the deck to grease it, another poor design IMHO. But even so, I keep running them because my customers are always happy with the finish.

I've never driven/ridden one of these mowers but they look really uncomfortable to me. The position your sitting in looks unstable to me. I compared these mowers years ago and the price drove me away. Can't see paying that much for a 48" mower that moves that slow (especially if I was planning on using it for leaf bagging).
