- Super Eagles of Nigeria have played out a 1-1 draw against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
South Africa took the lead in the 29th minute through Themba Zwane who dazzled past the Nigerian defence to send the ball beyond the reach of Stanley Nwabali in goal for the Super Eagles. In the 46th minute, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru got Nigeria back into the game with an exquisite solo effort from outside the box.

Good analysis!. I was wondering why people could not hold Paseiro responsible for the draw against lowly rated Zimbabwe and Lesotho. The style of play was terrible but with Finidi George, we could see a decent style of play , draw against South Africa was not a bad result either and if we had full complement of our players, South Africa would lose scandalously. With time and better options for the Coach to select players, I see success inevitably.
It's a fact that Nigeria is out of the world cup. These are the 9 countries that will represent Africa; Egypt, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia Cameroon, south Africa, cote d'ivoire, Senegal and Ghana. Mali will go in for the playoff. Nigeria must forget about USA/Canada and Mexico. 😅😅😅
