- The passenger side engine mount is the most common engine mount to fail in a WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Here is a quick video to show you how to remove and replace it. Tight spaces make filming this quite awkward!

Thanks for the video. I had the intake off for an oil cooler replacement - upgrade to aluminum, raising the engine allowed getting the mounts out without removing the bracket. 15mm socket/wrench that adjusts angles is a must. Took about 1.5hr to get intake out and oil cooler replaced including oil leak clean up, 2.5 hours to get the mounts replaced, in from setup to clean up. Video was helpful thank you.
Great work indeed, being a mechanic myself, this reminds me of doing engine mounts on a V6VX Commodore, but maybe a tad easier, I’ve just bought a 2014 3.6 petrol Overland, so I’m just loving your work, and the hints and tips too, great stuff guys!!
Absolutely great video about changing a engine mounting Thanks
Love the knowledge you share. Have you done a vid for drivers side?
Love your work... keep 'em coming. 👌👍👍
Question Dan. Would it be easier to do both together, easier when you jack up engine?
Great job
Thanks for that
Awesome video, like all things jeep, a bloody fiddly job. Do you recommend oil filled mounts like OE, or full rubber for replacements?
stick with the oil filled if budget allows. you get a much smoother ride. the rubber mounts transfer alot of the engine vibrations through the body of the car.
Rachet spanner makes it easier. Engine was a bit messy (oil).
Great video thamk you
Awesome video, thanks for posting! Just curious about using a jack stand to support the engine below VS using an engine support bar on the top. What are the pros/cons of both methods? Where would you attach a support bar if you went with that option?
Support Bar can be used. The dealer actually prefers it to be done with support bar
@@aljosnumbawuanfan3261 Dont the dealers go as far as removing the intake manifold in order to the lift the motor from the top?
I have a 1600klm trip to Alice coming up in a couple weeks, waiting on delivery and im hoping i can change out the passenger side engine mount on the garage floor in a day, its been leaking a good amount of fluid.
How did you diagnose the engine mount was failing?
I have a rough ride over bumps and we have replaced the shocks, upper control arms etc.
It was suggested to me the engine mounts might need replacing. Does this sound correct to you?
They leak hydrolic oil. Get under the car and look for what looks Kike a chocolate milkshake colour. It’s not black is a light brown almost caramel colour if you see that your mount has failed. It normally busts and leaks all over the front diff
Do you know what the plastic piece is over the bolt on the bracket I removed 3 bolts and there is 1 more that I can't get loose because of that plastic piece.
What's the torque specs?I would hate for those bolts to come loosen.
Yes torque specs would be great to know. Looks like “firm” from a compromised racket position?
I have oil like drips from both front mounts. Is that possible? I believe you answered my question, hydrolic fluid.
Where are you located? I need both front mounts replaced as they are leaking.
Yes they are oil filled.
Located Sydney’s north shore
Great Video!. I need to do mine. Can you tell me the brand of that spanner? Cant find one with the double offset like yours.?
Snapon
can this be done for the drivers side also? friend has a 2017 jeep cherokee 3.6 and everything says you have to take intake off to raise engine enough. can i instead just undo the engine brackets on both sides? or is it passenger onlly?
Just undo the mounting bracket
Legend
Thanks
Great video! Just curious, did you have to remove the upper air intake assembly in order to jack the engine up to clear the top engine mount bolt?
Looks like he didn’t, took the whole bracket out instead which saves a lot of time lots of other videos show the upper intake coming off
no. just take the whole bracket off
As I begin work on this, some other videos mention removing top parts of the motor casing to allow for more vertical movement of the motor when you jack it up. Is that actually needed? Or should I be able to jack up the motor enough to replace mounts without removing anything above the motor. Thanks.
No need to remove anything up top
You change the driver side engine mount I think expect if you live in india or uk 😅
…or Australia 🇦🇺
So l rang this morning for you to give me a price to supply and install. Price $800. SO WHY IS IT SO DEAR IF IT WASN'T SO DEAR I WOULD HAVE GOT YOU TO DO BOTH ??
Have a go at changing it yourself. If after your done you don’t think $800 is fair I’ll gift you $800.
