  • It's been a century since the roaring 20s and these fascinating photos of Liverpool life, workers and streets were first captured on film.
Around a century ago, the city was growing and hopes for the future were high following the end of the First World War.
There was a surge of modern fashion, art and technology, from cars to the telephone and the way we lived and how the city looked was arguably unrecognisable to the Liverpool we know today.
We're now well into the 2020s, but these images, taken between 1920 and 1929 offer glimpse into what the city was like for a generation around 100 years ago.
We've since revisited our archives - and added some more archive photos which have been unseen for years - as well as including one striking photo of outside St George's Hall in 1919 that we didn't want to miss out.
Courtesy of our archives Mirrorpix and beyond, here's a glimpse back in time to a city that is unrecognisable from these images. A number capture landmarks being built, Royal visits and people on the street going about their day to day lives.
