I've ran Kicker products in the past and they never disappointed me. I loved them and I've been dreaming of running them again someday in the future. Two thumbs up.
My first L7 set up was 4 8" L7'S in my 89 Iroc. Next was 2 SoloX 12's in my Integra. The 8's had 2 Zr1000's and the x12's had a Zx1500.1 on each. They slammed, "The Good Ole Dayz!"
I miss the old ZR series amps. I don’t know how many I bought over the years. I had 4 L5 10s in a regular cab 02 sierra. I took the center console seat out and made an L-shaped box.
@@beenburning4993 I think it would've survived just fine if he had cooled the voice coils after each burp. He let them heat soak instead. That will ruin any driver and should be avoided.
I was a hardcore Orion fan, (pre-DEI acquisition) but was very impressed by the L7. I’ve install many throughout the years but I’m still hung up on Original Vega strokers though…late 90/early 2k guys chime in! What happened to Hollywood?
Only problem with dd audio is that there prices are outrageous for a 3512 it's like 800 for that you could basically grab 2 sundown x series for like 1k and it's harder to find a dd audio dealer great company and great quality but to me way to overpriced for a 1200 rms speaker
Never had an L7 cause I bumped an rf hx2 for 14 years before a lead wire broke. I did install lots of L7s when I worked for my buddy who is a Kicker dealer here in Oklahoma. I do have an original solox 18 brand new and a kicker xs100 competition amp still in the box. Awesome Jp didn't expect to see Kicker at d4s.
@@khmer5475 Not always. Sub boxes can be the down-fall of a sub also. The specs could be off, the tunning could be wrong for the sub. You build the box for the sub, not the other way around. Any sub can play the Lo's, it's how they sound and handle the frequency. But then again what do I know...?🤓

Big D just threw 11,000 watts to one of these about 4 times and finally blew it at 45hz I purchased two of them and I'm getting my box build super stoked

Should sell all of the major subs from alot of different brands. Not small subs but just their big db or spl subs. I'd love to get my hands on some of those JP amps. I missed the launch by 6 months.
This is the first time I watched a review video of kicker subs just because it is on your channel and I'm impressed by the sub. They can definitely hit better numbers in sales if you carry their products.
Kicker always had good gear. Many world championships in SQ and SPL. I'm waiting for the 18's later end of year or beginning of next sometime and the new warhorse amps 😎
When my local stereo shop dropped rockford and went kicker Ive been buying kicker subs ever since. Just the CompR’s bc I know Ill blow them up. But they take a beating and keep going! I want two of those but I dont have 6 cubes to give them unless I go crazy.

I have 2 15" L7R's sitting in the living room getting ready to throw them in the Impala on sundown salt 2k till I can afford another Xv3 an another salt2..I've always loved kicker subs for how musical they are in correct application

Yes, Kicker is solid and they make one of the best SPL Amps on the Market "WarHorse" and there Comp Q subs sound great! Kicker is definitely underrated!
I would buy into them JP, they are absolutely amazing by feel and looks you can agree, but I really believe these are going to make some amazing builds, and if you get them, I will be getting more of them from you

What about Rockford Fosgate subs, P3's and the Power series. The Power series are astronomical in price,but possibly you could sell them cheaper. In my day late 80's early 90's- Stillwater Designs (Kicker) and Rockford Fosgate subs were in direct competition.
I'm not one to follow current trends, and try to locate unique but capable products, especially with car stereo installations (like D4S). But that said, from a business perspective I'm surprised you already haven't since they have been a top selling speaker and sub company for years. And it's that "cash flow" that matters most in business!
I have a kicker compC 8" 4ohm on my 2000 avalon.. The factory JBL sub is known to blow out. All my other speakers including the tweeters are JBL and I have a touchscreen pioneer double din head unit and it's amazing. I replaced the sub 3 years ago and it's been working beautifully
Absolutely-freakin-lutely! Kicker is top notch. Their CX line of speakers are thee top selling speaker in all of car audio. You can’t lose JP. On another note the only L7 subs I own are prototypes including the first gen Solo X 18.
This was such a great idea. I would absolutely love to go through down for sound to get my kicker subs. And it just so happens I'm running a brand new JP23 version 2 on 4-8" L7 Q series and they are slappin!!. No room🎉 for those massive 10s in a single cab truck but A guy can wish
You are a business. You should sell kicker to make money. I was a huge kicker fan up until about 2010. After that I feel like they sold themselves out. I know it’s just business. I know they’re trying really hard to make a comeback, but I’m over it. The zx amps were great though.
I owned two L7 12” and it was my favorite set up, ran 2500 rms into the 900rms subs and it beets my current set up of 3500rms amp to two 1800 rms subs I’m looking for two of these new L7 can’t wait
YES except for some of their loaded enclosures, I had the twin comp R box, it was so small that the low frequencies just didnt deliver; i still enjoyed it

I love my 2 ohm DVC L7S 12’s wired at 1 ohm. Skar 2000.1D’s going to each 12. 320A Alt, yellow top up front and a Batcap 900 in the back. All managed by a C-Tek dc to dc charger. It never drops below 12v even on the long low pulls. My car audiophile buddies are Skarred.

And if you don't already, get some Stereo Integrity as well. *And tell your camera guy to change everything* to 30fps, 1/50th shutter speed, all-intra-frame codec (XAVC S-I, All-i, or ProRes), the highest bitrate available, and to edit in a 30p timeline. Or if he insists on shooting one setting 60fps no matter what, tell him to shoot with a 1/60th shutter for proper motion blur, and to edit/finalize at 30fps instead of 24, because it looks choppy and laggy trynna do a goofy 2.5 frame pulldown from 60 to 24. But don't forget the all-intra-frame codec part. Oh, and if he uses auto-exposure, tell him to set it to shutter priority mode so it won't screw up the motion blur by changing the shutter speed to expose (brighten/darken) the image capture. If he mentions the "180-degree rule" or says "I went to film school, I know what I'm doing" then he doesn't. Breaking the 180-garbage is something new that they won't teach you in the propagandized "film school" curriculum, partly because doing so makes HFR (50 and 60 fps played back at the full rate) look good and exactly like IRL instead of uncanny and cheap like a soap opera. HFR played back at HFR needs an open shutter because motion blur is static because shutter speed is a measure of time that is captured PER frame. 1/60th is 1/60th of a second, whether that's once, 24 times per second, or 60 times per second.
for what they are designed to do they are good subs. But far from one of the best at anything. I had two L7's in one of my previous vehicles, so no hate intended.
@@genovalenzuela7474Fi has had bad T/S specs in the past. Probably still do. Sundown has exceptional QC and RnD. Same with IA. Kicker fell off quality wise for years and only bank off of their early 2000’s and 90’s reputation. But very interested in the new Solo X line up.
@808kea808 2000w rms. But Williston Audio tested this sub out and pushed it till it burnt the coil out... at 13k watts!!! These will take way more than 2k rms

Those Kicker L7 Q Class Were the Truth. They Didn't have alot of Motor Force unlike this one of course. However they Gave Deep Clean Loud Bass💯

I'm running a single old school 15" L7 in my car right now. Hands down one of the best subs I ever owned.
The new SOlo Xs are looking a lot better than I expected. They are on my radar.
Considering Big D Wizz put 12,600w using a JP83 to this sub and it broke 145db you should probably carry it.
He blew it. It obviously cant handle that kind of power.

Kicker doesn't need to team up with you. You need them. As a major supplier for OEM Audio and a solid Aftermarket. They will be just fine.

Voice coil is actually 3" or 75mm because 25mm = 1 inch. I'm sticking with Sundown subs and D4S JP series amps. I love my JP43 and JP234!

The voice coil isn't 3.75 inches. All the measurements are given in imperial and metric, it reads 3 inches or 75mm

I had 6 L7 12” with 3 zr1000’s and the swx crossover module, then zr600 for my 6x9 and a zr460 4 channel for my door speakers and it hit pretty good

Someone that has time and money needs to do a control test of Fi Sundown and this sub to see who is the best. Same enclosure,same amp, etc.

@@odgreen808the coil wasn’t the failure point, it was the small spider and then the cone separating from the voice coil, definitely wouldn’t be pushing these over rated power.
