The fight scene for me symbolize her journey in the industry,,you can see a person holding a food in a tray and that for me is "success" but before that, IU first fought before she got the food, it means she fought all the criticism and hardship that was thrown to her before achieving success. She didn't made it at the top to easy, she, a solo artist survived in the industry that is mainly centered in groups and that's amazing
ㅇㅈ! Agree!
Plus reference from movie 'Old Boy' via footage of the scene and dumpling.
ji dong also mentioned girl and boy groups as a reference for this fight scene, and maybe if I'm not mistaken she's talking about her battle in this industry among these groups as a soloist.
I was thinking of the fight scene as IU vs haters
Also the guy giving her the food is the same guy from Good Day which is considered her break out song
My theory is that the first train was her twenties. At first she was sad when it ended but then another train arieved which is her thirties and she is happy again
And coming train is her thirties.
💜
@@stevenbaek5389 Interesting, I agree.
Totally agree👍
Agreeee !
Apparently the first part where she enters the train shows her start into the entertainment music industry. Shy, naïve, in awe of everything, etc and copying her seniors maybe because she's new and awe eyed. And then later, she paved her own path ( shown by the fight scene) . The outro is her arriving at BYLAC ( end of her twenties). It all feels like a dream ( i.e that bit towards the end where she looks confused) then the new train arrives and it could be spring or maybe even the train to the beginning of her thirties.
My take of the MV.
1) The train board listed all of her album. Shows her journey through the train.
2) She boarded the train/entered the music industry. She was shy and imitates her seniors. She learns.
3) The fight scenes shows how she was hurt along the way. She fought hard for her bread.
4) The cartooney scene reminds me of Eight MV. She lost friends along the way. Her rosey view of the world is gone as she buries her memory
Best explanation of the MV so far. I'm not a Uaena, I'm a Shawol. But I really like IU.
Thanks for the explanation! I’m a new fan… also what’s a shawol?
3 bestfriends dead😭
Here is my theory: The train is her 20s train in which IU is moving from a train to another train, which shows what she has been through in her 20s. The train gets her out from the train and the train says good bye to her, which means her 20s say good bye to her and she reacted to the good bye by waving her hands. Her 20s has gone and it has gone like a blink of eyes because when you look back at the past that you have been through, you feel like it was for a very short period time, but don't be disappointed because another spring will come as it always did, which is her 30s.

Wow. 🤯
wow
Should celebrity be 2020 tho?
Bang? Kamu uaena yang top👍🏻
Lilac means the memories of youth. So she chose the flower to be the theme of this album.

🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️
And the lyrics is also connected to good day.. I just realized it now 😯🧐💖
@@janbeulah7483 i think all her songs are related to her past songs somehow. She is so smart with her lyrics she is a true boss girl❤️👍
@@mariafernandes9208 She mentioned in her Naver Now stream two hours ago that the piano background melody was thought out by one of the composers, and when she heard it she recognized it, and then added the lyrics for it. She later called the composer and he said that it was on purpose. So it wasn't actually her who thought of it first, only noticed and adapted, improvised.
she's a legend...its true😢😢😍😍
This MV I think is about her journey throughout the years as an idol. As she bids adieu to the 20's while still have the memories of it, she embarks on new journey as she enters her 30's by producing new sounds and music while still remaining herself. The fight scene is her fight or struggle in the industry.
This MVs a reflection back on her 20’s as she prepares for her 30s. The sign on the train shows all her album and singles released in her twenties. The train ride represents her emotional journey. When she first gets on, she bumps into people and is shown to be nervous but excited. As the people already on the train dances, she watches in awe and slowly imitates them, eventually fully immersing in it herself. The party in the tunnel represents her enjoying her fame. But soon we enter a darker phase in her life where she was constantly fighting and struggling against obstacles in her life (Chatshire controversy, malicious rumors, etc). The animated sequence shows her burying a time capsule, preparing to say goodbye to her 20s and keeping it as a fond memory in her heart. There’s a sense of serenity, as she’s burying it, rather than keeping it. This means she’s willing to let go of the good and not become hung up on them or obsess over the “good ol days,” but rather accept what comes next. In the end, she’s off the train, reeling from the shift of the joyous glories of the twenties. As she looks uncertainly to the future, she looks on the new incoming train of the 30s and smiles, ready for what comes next.
I've listened to all the songs in this album, and one word comes to mind: UNPREDICTABLE.
You never know what you're gonna get. The melodies and song arrangement break pop music norms. She's a music genius. I stan. ❤️
True , our one and only 😍😍😍
Can't get over the butterflies in Aaron's eyes in the 20 first seconds of the song he truly loves IU what a genuine fan🥺💜💜💜
Right? The smile is just… 🥰🥰
The one in the train is the same guy in her song GOOD DAY 💓😭
I stayed awake at 2am where I am so I that I can watch Lilac drop at 6PM KST. I have listened to the entire album in spotify and I can't wait to receive both versions of the album I ordered. Agree Lilac have gorgeous Visuals. I am dancing as I listened to it.
All songs in this album is so BOOM🥳🥳🥳 Flu, empty cup, coin🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Aren't you glad with the guy who is like a waiter carrying something or playing an instrument? He is the same guy from the music video 'good day' playing instruments too
He is also the composer of Good Day.
@@gabik.1643 no it's not true he is not composer of good day Lee minsu is composer of good day
wasn't he also in Red Shoes
She is now the most respected artist in Korea, but she has suffered many incidents and obstacles at the same time. Since this album marks the end of her 20s, fighting scenes seem to mean such a struggle.
At the same time, that scene is the homage of the famous Korean movie Old Boy. Old Boy is famous for hammer action scenes and fried dumplings similar to that scene.
I literally just smile the whole time listening and watching " LILAC ", Sound so good, by the way "MY SEA" is superb,I love it, you should react on it.
My Sea gave me chills! So beautiful!
Seriously My Sea really give me goosebumps 😍
Yesss My sea is AMAZING
Yes! My Sea is my fav in the album
Dont forget tomorrow "COIN" MV will be out.. 🔥🔥🔥
HER WHOLE ALBUM IS LEGENDARY
Some things you missed :
- The saxophonist was in Good Day (the song that first got her super famous).
- The scene where she's fighting those men in black is supposed to represent the hardships she had to go through. She said that despite being a Solo artist she had to go through troubles that quite resemble those that whole groups have to struggle together to make it through them. She wanted to show that despite fighting them "alone" she was a badass and still made it alive.
The Eight reference there suits is really well.
- At the end of the fighting scene the saxophonist appears and she get a bite of something that seems to be anti-climatic. I think you can make up your mind about what that means.
- The ticket at the beginning says Departure : HILAC Destination : BYLAC (those are both versions for this album where one is saying Hi to her 30's and one is saying Bye to her 20's selves)
- I think the party scenes and the scenes with other people on the train play with the same theme. Everyone on that train is leaving to their future selves that's why they all dance the same choreography in the first verse.
- All the lyrics can be read as a break-up song but just like the animation part, it's actually meant as a time capsule burial ceremony. She's peacefully and happily closing her 20's with all the hardships, pain and beauty it encapsulated.
- On the last scene we can see the saxophonist again, bidding her farwell with a big smile. She says goodbye but before she has the time to get sad, we hear and see a new train. She looks at us with a determined and somewhat excited look on her face.
She is a legend!
Top SOLO ARTIST!!
IU my QUEEN
I love the way you react of IU. 😍😍😍
The first train that she get in is her 20s, If you notice the train attendant is the same guy with IU's Good Day music fairy. And she enjoy her 20s and fight so much too (means her struggles through her 20s life and career). And the ending she stop, and the train attendant wave his hands say goodbye means say goodbye to her 20s. And then 2nd train has arrived, she see it and smile to camera it's mean she ready to next journey, her 30s
I cant wait for your reaction to the rest of the album🤍
I love the first part when Aaron can’t focus on this MV because of IU’s visual HAHAHA the “DAMNNNN!” reaction is so cute 😂😂😂we feel you. That’s the 👸🏻 of visual🔥
Loved loved everything about this! Yesss looking forward to Coin tomorrow and future special clips. She's so wonderful! Lilac the song and the album are fantastic and this music video - *chef's kiss*
That’s our Queen 👸🏻 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The Queen is dominating the charts againnn 💕
Waahhhh your so early i love it! I can tell you the whole album was insane! My sea is one of my fave!
Her train for her twenties has left, and the new train for her thirties is arriving. 💜💜💜 Still waiting for her album in Apple Music: 😭
You can't spell GENIUS without IU.
do you notice that after that animated part , IU 's expressions change a bit after that during the choreo in the other half of the mv ?. she looked a bit sad
but still trying to put force a smile on her face . it must have a deeper meaning , right??
sounds soo good... I love everything ... the scene, the story.. she's a great conqueror. the train, i think it simply means life travel... so talented, intelligent, hardworking.. deserves the best, only the best in life👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.. love My Sea
The man who bring the food was an actor in Good day MV, yes, that who play instruments, before that she fight with all the criticism and haters and received her tasty food, maybe it's represent that Good day helps bring her popularity, so before that she was like that, it's just my theory btw
noticed that hehehe
Her album is AMAZING as expected 😍 PROUD to be an UAENA 😭
The song is about saying good bye to her 20s since she's about 29 in Korean age and her 5th album Lilac (Lilac is also the name of the title track) will be the last album in her 20s. The where are you going sign has all the title track songs she made in her 20s. Including Lilac which you can see at the very bottom of the station board and on her train ticket. Also Lilac is her fav flower. It's associated with spring and it blooms in May (i think). It is also her birth montg and the color is more like her outfit when she had the blue contacts on. MV meaning: First part of the train ride is her debuting and being new to the industry, hence why she is kind of startled by the flash mob dancing but eventually joining in. 2nd part can be seen as her rise to fame and enjoying it. 3rd part can be seen as her overcoming obstacles in the industry (as a solo artist), especially since she debuted during a time (2008) where groups were dominating the scene. (Fun fact: the train conductor is also in her other MV good day which really jumpstarted her career). The animated part is her putting her 20s into a time capsule including her glasses kinda symbolizing that she'll be having a new outlook in her 30s. The last part is her getting off the train celebrating her 20s and even though somewhat anxious, anticipating the train of her 30s.
Now the full album pretty pleaseeee ♡
Ahahah Aaron ! Love your reacts so much ahaha 🤣 we have same reactions, same thoughts, it’s great to have this comeback with your videos too 😂 you always have interesting comments about the music ! Thank you 🙏
YES! BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ✨
My theory is the trains is how her 20s..when she enter 20s with first album she trying to fit in. Then she happen to taste the glamorous in her 20s also have to fight with many obstacle. Then at the end of the trains she look more sophisticated and buried the time capsule that contain her 20s n album to move on to the next chapter. after that train stop..
Her diaries in the box are 4 nos.
And this album is 5th.
For me, at the beginning when she was in the waiting area I feel like she will ride a train to enter her youth. She rode a train where everything in it is all what happened to her timeline. At the end, she took off on that train and gets ready for an another adventure in an another timeline. Spring is the concept and her birthday is May (near end of spring). I agree that she dedicated this song for herself.
Your speech in the first part is like me while watching the MV. Thank you IU for coming into our life 💜💜💜
I just recently Stan her and now I’m addicted to her😇😇
Thank you for your reaction Aaron
End scene represents her new journey now and it's like a new mystery
Definition of Queen 👑💜💜
New train is coming. Bye twenties, Hi thirties. Her ‘spring of twenties’ is over, but spring comes again. Just like her, I’ll keep my twenties in secret orgel box and rewind it through her music. Because she and her music is every moment in my twenties, in my youth💞 징짱 징짱 사랑해요💞
11:31 The way IU looks at him HAHAHAHA he’s blushing 🤣💖
Waiting for the whole album
I refresh refresh and refresh again all the time, to wait for Aaron reaction. He reacted the mv honestly and the theory he made perfect sense. Waiting for your reaction for IU - Coin MV tomorrow 😊
I think you are pretty on point with your theories 🤩
I thought this is not your favorite genre, but I think you will perhaps love it when she will sing it live with the fan-chant 😉
I stan right queen!
My sea - IU 💗
Yay! Aaron reacts! Love you co-Uaena. You're my fave reactor:)
i was waiting for your reaction! listen to the whole album it's definitely her best album yet
Omg Aaron!!!! Been waiting for this haha thank you!
The notebooks in the box are her diaries that she's been writing for a long time
Can't wait for you to get to the album man. This album is mwah!
I think this is the first to a word "damn" in Aaron's video for the first time. Instead of WoW.
We’re waiting you full album please 😭💜💜💜💜
한국어 자막 굉장히 좋아요!! 외국인들 반응이 이해가 안되었는데 자막이 있으니 훨씬 재밌네요 :) 감사합니다! 다른 영상에도 있었으면 좋겠네요
IU is true the best first soloist goddess in kpop 🏆
My favorite from this album right now is "My sea"
Great talent and a wonderful gift to the world. She should be more famous around the world than she is now not for celebrity sake but, so that more people can enjoy the beauty of her music, her acting, her talent and her soul. I have spoken.
the musician is also the one in her good day mv which is her first hit
You will go to Korea and you should go to an IU concert.
Yeah! She is saying goodbye to her twenties. The train that enters the end of the music video is for her 30s. In the middle, IU's action scene is a parody of the Korean movie Old Boy. (The movie tells the story of the carefulness of words. She probably put that scene in to tell a story about a lot of malicious comments and various rumors she went through.) She say "Bye twenties, Hi thirties!"
Iu's drama "Pretty Man" was perfect cute as well. You could check that out someday. Two star legends are theprotagonists too, Jang Keun Suk and Lee Jang Woo, what a privilege ❤
I’m so emotional. So proud of her 🥺
i saw you smile when iu look at you in the screen hahaha well i smile also when i watch lilac m/v 😊
Amazing, also saw your comment on the MV. Appreciate it.
I can not smile when she looks at me like that 🥺😂💞 i feel youuu
I really like how honest you are in your reactions. You're my most fave reactor 😀. You can see even the smallest detail. I missed the one where the color of the tree changed when she wear off her glasses. Anyways, keep on playing the song and it'll grow on you, hahaha. More more IU reactions. Stay safe!
Finally LILAC. 😍😍😍😍
Another good job for my iu...
Thankyou for the reaction mr.hodsome..
Godbless.
another thing I thought about while watching the MV is that part in "Palette" when she says that "she now prefers the purple over pink", almost like using that as a metaphor to symbolize the beginning of her growth... and she definitely said bye to the pink to embrace the purple in the animated segment! So yeah, she's definitely turning a new page into a new, more mature chapter of her career! :)
Woaahh....I don't even notice the lilac glasses. You're really good!
QUENN IU 👑❤
every IU MVs have its meaning behind, those are so catching my heart💜💜💜
A lilac means memories of youth in the language of flowers.
- The train board listed all of her album. Shows her journey through the train.
- When she got on the train/entered the music industry. She was new, excited, shy and imitates her seniors, a learning phase for her.
- In black dress, she is enjoying her initial success.
- The fight scenes shows it wasn't easy for her to earn her bread, she fought through struggles to come though.
- The animated scene probably refers to Eight MV. She lost her close friends along the way and burying the sad memories. The change with change of theme and color scheme shows how that phase made her look at the world in new color/way..
- Ending scene, she leaves the 20's train, waving it goodbye, but the future is brighter..
IU 🥰🥰🥰
Wow aaron you're so fast 🤩
Your theory sounds so perfect!
The train symbolizes her age, as her twenties are a train and another train coming from the unknown
The fast years when shes 18 or 17 i saw her vedios, one the tv show, she's good dancer too.....
coin tomorrow 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Did u notice the man from good day he's featuring also in this mv ?
When u are old ueana u will understand her MV meanings from the first time , it is about her career and life from 20 to 30 all the happy moments & succès and even the difficulties she faced , I really love this song it is related to any transition between ages
Everything in this song is perfect, you are so good at reaction
Yaaaaaa she looks outstanding on that black outfit
IU and the MASTERPIECE.
The spring of her 20’s is end, but her spring of 30’s is coming 🌸
