WOW - Lifesaver!!!! Took my Grandson's gun apart in order to repaint and convert.... springs went everywhere. found this and all's well. Thank you sir.
I cannot describe how much this helped me early on in my nerf journey I got one of these from Goodwill and thanks for this video I managed to make it work (something was broken in it I can’t recall what) and now I still have that strongarm thank you so much for making this I found almost every other guide to be too hard for my small brain to follow but this one made it easy for me
And as an added bonus, this guide will help you with repairing a Disruptor too, as they are virtually identical. The main internal subframe and the catch are almost interchangable. In fact you could put Strongarm internals into a Disruptor, just not the other way around. The triggers are slightly different, the slides would be the same except they moved the position of the return spring making them incompatable. The Disruptor also doesn't have the trigger lock as its cylinder can't eject, although I think its subframe still has the location for it because they just used Strongarm subframes in these..
I have a Strongarm which trigger felt horrible. It had some sort of resistance, every time you pulled the trigger it felt like something inside was breaking. My Problem was the Trigger lock. Specifically that little nob under the rotating mechanism. It was a little to short so the cylinder couldn't engage it properly, so the safety wasn't completely disengaged. I simply removed the pole witch the nob on the tip ( 5:00 ). After that it worked fine. This safety is also the only internal difference to the Disruptor. Another problem was that the cylinder didn't rotate after each shot. What helped me reduce that malfunction was to file down the screw poles of this cap 9:29 . There was excess plastic on the mold preventing it to fit properly, which messed up the mechanism. This Blaster was a real lemon, but I am glad I could fix it. Way more fun and educational than simply returning it ^^
I have never felt compelled to comment. Ever. I’m not sure where exactly the failure was in the chunk section of this strongarm, but taking the whole thing apart and cleaning and greasing it (plus a couple of revolutions of Teflon tape around the o ring) and she’s firing foam everywhere. It was the rotating mechanisms that were to blame but I never found a broken piece so, Thanks a million!
I have a Strongarm that had a problem where the cylinder would occasionally stop between two "chambers" after firing and had to be manually rotated, and after much tinkering, lubricating, and reverse engineering I found that loosening the screws on the cap described in 9:27 alleviated the issue. My conclusion was based on the assumption that the cap was pushing too tightly on the weird arm thing with the peg (8:10), causing additional friction between the cap and the arm, or the peg on the arm and the cam on the rotation mechanism, or possibly both. (Maybe I disassembled the rotation mechanism before the issue started and screwed the cap back on too tight?) Just throwing this out there in case someone could use this information. Then again, my analysis could be wrong and there was something else I inadvertently did that resolved the issue, but I'm 90% sure I managed to fix it this way.
I have a hopefully helpful hint for about 16:00 for installing the sear catch and its spring. The trick is the square hole in the sear catch lets you put the spring in last, rather than prying the sear catch into place with the spring fitted. The process becomes, place sear catch in place, place all other parts in place, slot the spring through that hole, and then close the shell. I can make a short video addendum if that would help people? This series is extremely valuable to help people repairing their toys!
Thanks Cap! I requested this one needing specifically the best technique for dealing with the catch spring, and you delivered. I have an upgrade spring waiting to go into a translucent red Strongarm standing by in case you made this video. Tonight I'll try rocking the catch spring it in as you demonstrated. Whilst stating that it was hard, you got it on the first try (twice!) making it look easy. You, sir are the best case I can make for having nerfery taught in shop class (and also phys. ed.) :)
I have one of these with the Orange Mod Works upgrade kit installed, it came with a more sturdy catch and plunger, plus a metal trigger to work with the heavier spring, and all the Strongarm features still work, it just has a mean prime but jumps the FPS from Elite standard to basically Rival standard. The kit also came with a new plunger tube pad since that is sometimes miss aligned from the factory and that would mess up the air seal. Also I think its because of all the different catches and mechanisms that the Strongarm kind of sounds like a nail-gun going off when you fire it, which makes this kind of interesting.
Again. This is my favorite Series that you are currently producing. Thanks for the video. I cannot wait to see the Longshot video. I have thrifted a few and haven’t come up with a project for them yet
I'm only 12 minutes in and this is so interesting. Thank you for patiently explaining all of this to us! Really cool to learn exactly what everything does 👍😁🔫
Oh, and the window in the catch is to get a small screwdriver in to lift/compress the spring. The manufacturer probably has a slightly hooked little tool. I took a cheap #1 flathead, the kind that aren't made of good tool steel, and rounded the end over a bit to help me hook and place small screws, I can't imagine that industrial companies don't have something less jank.
Very helpful. Almost failed to reassemble mine after modding it to be rear fed (reload). Noticed that the small catch spring was missing. All good now 😎
Don't own a strongarm , but I still watch . Doing an expanded plunger tube, in a retaliator , using a Apollo tube, and spring ( it's crunchy ATM) tweaking the brass , best so far is 121
Hey captain, is it snowing where you are? So I bought a centurion on Wednesday right, they said it’ll take one or two days. It’s been 5 days because of the snow! And even worse, the the holes on the plunger tube to hold the screws to the tube broke
Hey Captain, Love the Monday Mods! How about doing... - Tuesday Tips - Wednesday WIPS (work in progress) -Thursday Throw backs - Friday Flops You know ...a theme day for each day. 😎👍
I needed this because something wasn’t working in my strongarm and I wanted to see what the deal was and I took it apart then forgot how to put it together (the problem with it was that the reloading mechanism had two parts missing so I need to get that replaced)
I have a Disruptor which is similar but I can't seem to fix it's rotation issue after taking it apart and reassembling it many times. It will work once after assembly. It seems to work fine when opened up but not when buttoned back up.
Very nice video! I have a small question, would the slide of the Strongarm fit on a Disruptor? Mine broke unfortunately and would like to seek alternatives to other Disruptors because finding one at a low price is a difficult challenge and a Strongarm's slide looks way cooler imo. Thanks!
god the catch made this reassembly take waaaaaay too long for me. i wrote a bad word on it out of frustration. thank you so much for this video. i took out the dart posts and AR in mine and threw some quarters in the grip cus i dont like how light it feels around there. makes it easier to spin too :P dont think ill be modding another one of these however. yeesh.

very helpful video! now i know why my blaster wont work but i dont know where to buy new parts do you know a page or something where i can buy some new parts?
Hey Captain X, this might be out of left field but, how hard do you think it would be to stick a proud papa inside the strongarm? or any old nerf for that matter
Captain, my Strongarm gives loud clanking sound for each shot. It's like the spring crashes into something. Does your Strongarm has the same behaviour ? I think it could be caused by either the moving plunger tube or the plunger rod hitting the body (there's a tab on the rod). Any suggestion ?
Still works. I fiddled with it again, found that the problem is on the air seals : on the plunger rod & the foam at the AR (where the plunger tube meets the drum). It's better now, more of a pop sound than a clank.
I can agree this is probably a blaster not worth modding with how the priming mechanism works. The one I first found definitely had rounded lungs from the constant use it went through and won't prime properly half the time. I can imagine throwing a heavier spring in it probably made it worse. I found another that wasn't heavily worn and I wont be trying to mod it now that I understand its more of a rate of fire blaster over a performance one.
@ahmadagungnugraha1933 my guess is either the spring is worn out, the seal between the plunger tube and the cylinder is worn out, or the o'ring on the plunger tube is bad/dirty. Possibly a combination of those.
To be 100% candid, you have the best assembly guides for nerf on UA-cam or anywhere.
That was the goal, to create the definitive reassembly guides. :)

Saved this for many many many late night mod sessions.
Just finished reassembling mine after painting, thank for yout tutorial all went well
Hi Xavier I have been a fan for a while and just to say you are the best and keep up the awesome work btw my fav gun is the strongarm

With enough epoxy and 3d printed parts anything is possible. Would it be easy? No.
very helpful video! now i know why my blaster wont work but i dont know where to buy new parts do you know a page or something where i can buy some new parts?
Depends on the parts. For most of the small fiddly bits there is nowhere to get them.
just got a Disruptor, can I follow this guide to disassemble that? or do I need to look for another guide?
They are similar enough this will probably work.
Thanks. just getting into nerf as a hobby. It gets very noodley very fast. it's nice to find some direction.
Hey Captain X, this might be out of left field but, how hard do you think it would be to stick a proud papa inside the strongarm? or any old nerf for that matter
Sticking it on would be fair simple. Having it in and having the cylinder still automatically rotate would be much more difficult.

Well I definitely didn't just get a strongarm from goodwill that's having problems or anything 😁
You saved my life dude
Hey yeah? I'm genuinely curious how a broken Nerf blaster becomes a life or death situation. Is there an interesting story there?
Parts that (potentially) wear out?

What time-traveling wizardry is this, Hasbro?!
(Thanks Captain!)
Yes this is the best

Could you do a Monday mod tips on proton packs
No. They are not my design to show off. Check out OutofDarts channel for more info on them. :)
