When you know you know..!!! Tiled a hearth for a friend today, wasn’t going to bother with the small vertical strip of bead, but this video popped up, thought wh y not.. made such a difference to the finish, thank you so much for sharing this info..😁💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Superb video. You Sir, are what makes this great nation so wonderful. I will be doing this joint on a kitchen I have just installed in York and can’t wait to try it. Thank you.
That is genius. Some manufacturers do sell an insert piece for the three way corner but they are so hard to find and many manufacturers don't sell them at all. Your trick will be brilliant on metal trim.
Great video and thanks for the help. Never happy when tradesmen slag off other tradesmen or people advertising their services. That Job is for the home owner to discuss with the tiler if she or he is not happy. Great video
Top man👍 This was melting my head and I was only joining vertical to horizontal in a window reveal. All about the plane of the trim when its cut. Great finish when you know what you are doing. Thanks a bunch.
All I'm gonna say is thank you soooo much! Just doing my kitchen and coudnt get the rounded corners as the trim is gray, did what you showed me and boom, looks even better . Thanks for taking the time to upload this video ,💪👍
Kudos my man cave friend did this plus an extra mitre at the bottom on a shelf it looked so good my wife thought I'd sneaked someone into the house to do it for me😂 seriously being able to do this with your advice is a serious confidence booster. Liked and subscribed.
Hi Don if possible could you show me a photo of your extra mitre at the bottom that you did as I want run the trim across the bottom to join the two together? Many thanks Katie 😊
Very new to tiling. Found this very informative, but couldn't for the life of me work out why my cuts were 'concave' when they needed to be 'convex'. It would appear the side of the box you do the cut is is the key. Took me ages to work it out - nearly threw the lot in the bin and the old man nearly left me. Persevered and managed to do it, but it was quite a challenge before I realised what I was doing wrong!
Good video but you have picked the one brand of tile trims that provide proper corner trim pieces for that exact purpose , 59p each and will save you all those cuts and be an exact colour and size match for those trims , if like me you have no decent tile outlets near you so can't get the genesis corners unless you pay £7 postage, yeah right, I'm really going to do that , I have exactly the same triple mitre cuts done on my bathroom from about 2013, good of you to help others mate. nice one 👍
Yes. Have a look at this video: www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=video&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwj84_SJsZ6DAxUvW0EAHdoKDU4Qz40FegQIDhAN&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DLX65WulY1JY&usg=AOvVaw0lR3wXkdqXUd8RBj2zQp_2&opi=89978449
Man Cave Projects I’ll check it out, thanks mate, appreciate the help, currently on a tile job and I’ve never tackled trim around windows. This will help for sure! cheers
is this the same with flat tile trim im going two tiles up on my window sill with rt angle trim so the short down section to join the other two is giving me a head ache.any ideas
The short vertical and the trim going into the window are cut at 45 degrees. The trim running along the wall does not have to be cut as it just meets the other two pieces of trim.
As my geometry skills are absolutely duff, here's a Crypton Factor question before I ruin a perfectly good length of quadrant/trim 😬: Will the same 'Left, Left, Right' or 'Right, Right, Left' format apply when I'm cutting bathroom quadrant/trim for the *'interior'* angles of a shower cubicle? Your 3-way is for an external corner - a forward-facing attitude - where my shower cubicle geometry (trims around 3 sides of shower tray and 2 going up the inside corner of cubicle) is interior. Any info, pal?
Yes it will work but I would never run a quadrant vertically on an internal corner in a shower cubicle. All internal vertical joints at the corner would be filled with a low modulus silicone bead. Chances are the 2 walls that but up to each other will be constructed from different materials (external wall butting up to a non load bearing internal wall for example). Because the 2 walls are constructed from different materials, they will expand and contact at different rates. This will more than likely result in water penetration into the join if a non flexible material is used to fill the gap in the tiles (quadrant for example). Hope this helps
@@mancaveprojects4693 Okay. Tiles all round on shower cubicle, but I take your point. I'd already planned on using a high-quality silicon to stick the quadrant down, then additional silicon to tidy-up any tiny spaces where quadrant sits 'flush' in corner, however I'm now considering my options and thinking of abandoning the 'upright' quadrant and just having the 3 horizontal sections running round the 3 sides of the shower tray. Thanks for reply, pal 👍
@@DaMalat cool thanks for the reply and the video, people like you are a godsend, handing out your knowledge for free. I've always considered myself a high level DIYer, having done it from a very young age and built bespoke sheds for over 20yrs, but this 3 way mitre is new to me, its a brilliant skill to have in the work bag😊👍. Especially now, as I'm stuck in the house isolating, and the mrs has jumped on the opportunity and wants me to finally tile the bloody bathroom 😖😣
@@andy-wi5gc Thanks for the comment Andy, much appreciated. I want to upload more videos but my other UA-cam Channel is taking up a lot of time (DA MALAT). Very nice video but would have been nice to mark each piece to make it easier for beginners to understand which one is the vertical one and also cover how to cut the left hand corner too to make it as comprehensive as possible
Thank you sir. I boxed in my wheel wells on my van conversion and needed to do two 3 way miter joints on each wheel well. So with your help I tackled this today and they turned out very good. I was surprised at how easy it was. Thumbs up!
Oh well Fella you are a gentleman and a scholar at make no mistake Thank you.
I’m trimming out a wood box and this is exactly what I needed. Thank you so much. This project means the world to me.
Just the help I needed, thank you
Nice demonstration thanks for sharing. Doing some work on a mantle currently!

I followed these steps shown in the video on wooden quarter rounds. Finished cuts came out perfect. Thank you for your help.
I went on a tiling course years ago, and was trained to do this, but forgot how to do it, thanks for jogging my ageing memory :)
This is perfect. Exactly what I needed to complete my project on the patio. Many thanks!
Been struggling to to this and just came upon tour video niceone for the hand 🤘
Perfect. Thanks for the help! Just been scratching my head thinking how to do it.

Hi, I'm not a tiler, but often do tiling, I have always struggled with external corners. This is so simple. Thank you.
Thanks for the comment Sandra, much appreciated
Good job, always struggled with the 3 way mitre.

Great video - been trying to visualise how to do it - now I know.

Great video, thanks, I had a tiler who did a bad trim job, how easy is it to remove plastic trim after the tiling has been completed?
Hi, great video. Can this method be applied to bathroom wall cladding trims too?
Great Job ! though the big hacksaw leaves a harsh finish !!- think i'll try the Dremel !
Fantastic thanks

Can you do this metal trim or will it bend it?
Great video, but which piece does the left cut make? Vertical, wall or return to window? Thanks
Many thanks, I managed to follow your instructions and produced a reasonable joint today.
Any tips for rectifying a bad finish if this hasn't been done properly (e.g. two of them meet)?
So of the 3 sections, which are the ones that run horizontal?
How would this work for internal wood quadrant corners? Thx
Does this work on internal corners or does anyone know what to Google for the little plastic 3way corner pieces. Thanks
Thanks mate.
Hi mate have you got an email address? Looking for a bit of advice on UPVC trim and how best to mitre for a good finish! Cheers

how do you determine at what part of the quadrant you make the cut
Would this method work at the top of an external corner, for instance if you moved it up to the top of the boxes in your demo?
Hi. Yes it would

Who done the tiling in the background ? Look at the corner
It's a wooden log cabin with interlocking beams. There isn't any tiling. 😂
Does this work for angle iron?.
Thanks mate.
Any differences if the corner is internal?
You would never need a 3 way mitre on internal one, the tile edge would be hidden from view.
👍🏻
Not called bastard mitres for nothing!
We in the civilized world use civilized methods like corner caps. Those peasants methods were good 60 years ago
@@mancaveprojects4693 there is a reason. Peasants can’t use them.
