I upgraded to version 11 the end of 2020. This is ridiculous, I should've held off for v.12. Final Draft does not give much improvement between upgrades and still lags behind in offering functionality available in other programs. Outlying function seems privative and story board should allow images and video.
As a FD11 user, I downloaded the trial for FD12. I dont know if I see much value in that outline section for $80 upgrade. I also use Save The Cat 3 software for an organized beat board and that seems like a clearer system to me. FD beat board seems clunky and has a delayed UI feel on my newest MBP.
@@CoreyC2022 I tried the whole FD beat board but I find it to be laggy. I went back to my STC 3 software so I guess I have to stay committed to a laptop only wiht 2 software open.
I wonder if the Dual Dialogue has been fixed. It always bothered be that this feature was locked and messing with it too much seems to just break the formatting on the exported PDF. The thing is, most of the screenwriting software out there just make this feature work. 🤷♂️
What exactly do you mean by "Outline Index"? Do you mean an index of your outline steps, like a table of contents? What should be included in that index?
There are several outline elements at 0:29. In case you mean the outline editor, just create beats on the beat board and pull them up into the outline editor. In case you're talking about outline elements, you use them like every other script element and choose them from the script element menu or via shortcut.
Why "not naming any names"?, unless you are sponsored by Final Draft (nothing against this, but, your comment comes up as if you were) I would like to know which is the other program that does this. Would be very helpful. Thank you for the useful review.

Updated to Final Draft 12 - crashing randomly every hour on WIndows 10 Pro, just typing or scrolling. Final Draft support stating other users experiencing the same issue.
The other problem with windows version is overly high cpu usage, even when minimised. This means the fans spin in my laptop and the battery drains. FYI my laptop is a very high end Microsoft Surface that can edit 4k video without breaking a sweat. I complained to FD about this with version 11. Ultimately they couldn't fix it because it's a fault of their coding. Literally no other software I run in Windows has this problem. I don't know why they can't fix it.
@@gypmcgyp Version 12 sits idly at 0 % now. Scrolling through a 120 page screenplay DOES take about 15% peak away from the CPU. Word document about 10% peak doing the same.
@@aknittel1 V12 on my surface book is sitting 25% idle but weirdly about 10% if I unplug it from the mains. That will be down to a power saving profile when on battery. MS Word sits at 0% when not being used so I'm pretty certain it's nothing to do with my hardware.

You're right. This v 12 though has some interesting developments (as defined here). So, take a look.

I’ve been considering save the cat for a beat board. Not a big fan of FD beat board.

They should have had it be a free upgrade from FD 11... not many "new" things, stupid.

Now, Mac OS comes with freeform app to creating beat boards. Much better to create outlines.

Hello, I want to customize the ZOOM level in Final Draft 12,Currently it only allows me to choose from pre-set zoom levels (e.g., 100%, 125%, etc.)
Zoom goes in 25% steps, yes.

Hello, is the title page feature the same as FINAL DRAFT 11? Or did they do any improvements or changes?
Version 12 now lets you add images to the Title Page. That's the only difference that I could find.
