This guy was so cool for no reason.
I think one of the big reasons is his Design. The other is Knuckles getting his own Nemesis.
I'd agree with what Leveler said, Enerjak surprisingly has a really cool design considering how lacklustre so many Echidnas were. What's fun is that, in my opinion, is that Enerjak only gets cooler in the next part where we'll look at Knuckles' time as Enerjak and as Dark Enerjak

The Knuckles-Jak arc is one of the best in the entire comic imo. It's just a beautiful deconstruction of everything that was wrong with the Brotherhood of Guardians and the horrible things Penders did throughout all his Echidna lore, and especially how terrible of a father Locke was to Knuckles.
I much prefer it when long-running comics acknowledge previous bad writing and deconstruct it to fix it and move on, rather than just retconing it out of existence or ignoring it. I feel Ian Flynn is doing the same now with the games if they keep him writing future ones. He should put "Sonic Lore Janitor" on his job description at this point.
I agree! I think Ian Flynn did a fantastic job with Archie when it came to not only acknowledging previous arcs but expanding on them and I don't think the comic would have been as well remembered if not for that.
I hope we see more of him in the games because I really enjoyed seeing him tie in all these different games and if there's one thing Sonic could really use is someone who can write for it right now.
Very nice video. This was a good summary of the earlier parts of Enerjak's story. The editing and comedy were good, and I really liked the list of issues near the end of the video. The music and tone of voice give this video a very calming and informative effect. 5/5, and I'm interested to see episode 2.

I apologize in advance for the INSANE length of this comment. The reason it’s so long is because I kept going on different tangents.
That was definitely interesting. It’s funny how Ken Penders ripped off a bunch of different things for his donut steels. Haven’t read the comics since I’m not super interested in the Sonic story. There’s some genuinely interesting stuff, but I don’t care enough to actually read them myself. The games are fun and the music is so much better than it has any right to be. But the story is typically bad or mediocre. Still I’m glad others liked it and find all these bizarre facts interesting. If it were up to me the Paramount Plus Knuckles show would be helmed by Ken Penders purely because of how funny that would be.
On a side note Penders was thinking about suing Paramount because he thinks Knuckles having parents is ripping of his ideas. No idea if he’s currently suing them or if he called it off. The funny thing is unlike Archie/Sega Paramount is actually competent when it comes to legal matters. Literally the ONLY reason he won was because his opponents were somehow even more incompetent than he was. Seriously, Chris Chan probably could’ve copyrighted Sonichu if Sega took him to court because of how badly they fumbled the Penders suit.
Im so disappointed that he hasn’t done anything with the Lara Su Chronicles. From what I hear all the guy does is just argue with people on Twitter over the dumbest possible things. Do you know what the guy has been doing for work in recent years? If he’s not doing anything I’m shocked he’s not homeless.
Also really disappointed that his terrible Sonic Armageddon movie never got made. That would be one truly magical dumpster fire.
Glad you enjoyed the video! Penders really is an enigma to me because as far as I know he hasn't worked since he left Archie in 2006. He does do commissions and he goes to conventions where he sells stuff so there's some money there. I'm sure he'll make a chunk of change off the Lara Au chronicles if it ever comes out, I think he had planned to have it out for San Diego comic con last year but that didnt happen. The longer he takes the less relevant his work will be

Yeah, if the guy doesn’t release his bizarre fever dream anytime soon then nobody will care. Kind of like how he keeps holding onto his script for Sonic Armageddon (assuming he even has something beyond those 4 weirdly drawn pictures) which will NEVER see the light of day since he’s completely burned his bridge with Sega and the Sonic movies came out. It will be so funny to see how mad he gets when people roast his terrible comic is it ever comes out.
I remember once somebody described Ken Penders as Chris Chan but slightly competent. That’s funny because it’s 100% accurate and both of them have so many parallels. Both are super uncreative making bad recolors and meltdown whenever anything bad happens to them, both of them have their villain origins from Sonic, both have truly monstrous egos despite not actually achieving anything, both think infamy is legitimate fame, both are pathological lying back stabbers, and several other things.

Love the video! Enerjak has always been a favorite of mine. Off topic, there’s a character that really isn’t talked about enough in the comic community, Super Sonic from the Fleetway Comics. Ik he isn’t an archie character, but he has inspired the creation of some archie characters if my memory serves correct. If you’d like, I would check him out (and the comics themselves, they’re pretty funky)

@@FantasticSamtastic oh, that’s sick! If you do end up doing a video on him, I would definitely look into STCO (although it is dubious to canon since it’s fanmade, it did get recognition by the STC creators, and the comics definitely did Super some justice)
