What a great idea to save money And keep the same style of the cabinets. Come out wonderful. Thank you for sharing this with us today. Stay warm, safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
There is something very satisfying this type of job, meeting the need by using what you have. A flexible skill set, a working scrap pile, time and plenty of patience. Nice result, even with “that” oak stain. :-) Thanks for sharing.
What??? You drilled holes and then used the drill bit to finish the making the mortise?? By hand!!! You have skills I don’t! I may could do that on the drill press but I still doubt I’d get it lined up. The chiseled groove is also something I wouldn’t have thought of. I really appreciate seeing the methods you used.
Good on you for cleverly resizing and re purposing that cabinet 👊. I would have admittedly been tempted to re size that cabinet using the bonfire method, which produces a slightly different outcome. Nice work! Thanks for sharing. ✌️
So, so glad to see this. I have to trim down our 'over-the-fridge' cabinet in the same way, and now I have a lot more confidence going into it. I'm not as hopeful about the glue situation, but at least I know how it can go if luck goes my way. I love that you hand-formed the trim. I did not see that coming.
You got lucky to get it apart without ending up with a big pile of scrape! It was a good thing they were a bit lite on the glue when they put it together the first time! lol! nice job!
I’ve had to resize a few cabinets in my time and like you once I have finished I do not think they would be easy to do again as i generally build belt and brace’s style, I do not like to revisit jobs so I tend to over build from the get go, it is definitely worth having a go at something like this especially with older cabinets as the materials are generally of a better quality and like you said you save money also 👍👍👍👌👌👌🇦🇺
Nice; this would be great advice for people on a budget who buy pre-owned cabinets at a recycling store and need to resize some of them. Also, 6:48 is a neat trick I hadn't seen before. Also, thanks for reminding me that the golden oak cabinets in my kitchen are _sooooo_ out-of-fashion. 🙄🙄🙄 Good thing I don't care about such things. 😁 Also, you have _beautiful_ hair. 😍
...thought it would be more creative(like you always do;) now that I've watched the video, adjective switch to "more functional..." but always fun watching...rr
I like videos on how to modify. And your usual camera work that shows what you're doing without obscuring the details. Thanks.
Saturday Morning, before lunch tradition; wonderful to see something so basic transformed into something more creative...cheers...rr Normandy, France
Belle transformation,joli travail bravo à bientôt,salut,Jeannot ⚒😉

This is exactly what I’m doing in my kitchen. Your way is a lot easier. Thanks so much for the help.
Thanks. I’m now ready to give it a go on my cabinets. Let’s see how it goes 😊
You got this!

I probably wouldn’t use that method on more visible joinery because it’s not perfect, but on something like this works like a charm.

Hahahahaha.
Nice project, lots of little gems there in terms of deconstruction and adaptation. Thanks for pisting.
Great way to save the cabinet and your pocket.

Nice, these are my favorite type of comments.
More variety of work. Always interesting to see how you approach things. Surprisingly good doors on an mdf carcass.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to pop this apart

Solution making at it's best.
Thanks HoneyBadger!😄
Cool video. Thanks.
BIEN VU BRAVO
Old school mentality. If it isn't broken don't throw it away. The new stuff today is put together so cheaply.
Agreed.
And to think I built new cabinets instead of reworking them.
Did somebody hire u to size it down?
I did this for my cousin and told him it was on the house. He paid me anyways. So, technically yes I was hired.
