Definitely worth saving in my view: the body is mostly solid, it's a V6, the interior (what's there, at least) seems in great shape... Will cost a pretty penny putting it all right, but it is a desirable car whose value is only going one way in the future. Do it! :)
That remains to be seen. Seeing loads of weekend second cars starting to be dumped for sale and GTV's fit that category 100%. Rising rates and a sober rethink of things economically always occurs in recession and that's where things are heading big time. Classic cars are due a reality check along with most assets.
I'd restore it. Alot of the smaller jobs could be done at home such as bonnet struts etc. biggest job would be the respray. Cosmetics can be done later such as engine bay. Ultimately would depend on the condition of the engine and mileage.
great video, yes a definite restore for me, you don't see many of these cars on the road and love that v6 sound... hopefully mine gets done this year and I can show you to see what you think...
I’m definitely in the “get it restored’ camp - a bit of welding and a nice paint job and assuming no nasties lurking in the engine department, it will look the biz. Another good video Neil.
If it were mine I'd make a list of the jobs I could tackle, and those I couldn't, then cost it. The car will never be worth an awful lot so its very much a personal decision to put money into it or not. I probably would as there is a lot of satisfaction in bringing what is a very nice car back to life. I'd keep it off the road in the winter and it will always be a pleasure to drive in the better weather. Keeping a V6 in good shape is not ridiculously expensive, but it's not cheap either and you cannot skimp on belt and tensioner changes, 45,000 miles tops in my book.
Fix up. Most of what needs doing are just consumables. Immediately, rear shock and a bit of welding. Then clean up underneath. Brakes, and exhaust can wait until required (OK, pretty soon probably)
Its a keeper. Needs rust stabilisation, but is far better structurally that some of the badly rust affected cars you have shown us in the past. It has the v6 and that is why the customer wants to save it. If I owned it I would do all the work myself bar the spray job.
We have to keep the GTV V6 on the road, a sweet machine. We don’t want these great classic gems, ending up like the dinosaurs!£?!! 🤪P.S Great work as always Neil!
If the customer is paying for everything, this car just seems like a great way to get £20K into a car that will never be worth more than £10K. And that's before even delving into the engine bay, where stuff has been messed with. Yes, it can be restored, but the cost varies so much depending on what you can do by yourself.
In very decent shape for its age. A paintjob and some general recommissioning and detail work should see it right again for a good few years to come. 👍
I agree. When I bought my GTV V6 in '19 there wasn't much serious corrosion. I've undertaken to stabilise the bodywork and like you said, everything else can be dealt with. Time to get the spanners out again......😁
Hi Neil, overall, I think the car is in good shape, aside from the rusty sill. Sure, the paintwork needs doing, but that's mainly cosmetic. The shocks & brakes are tired & need replacing too, but they're all normal service items anyway. I'd therefore say this GTV V6 is a good looking car and is worth restoring, subject to the owner having sufficient funds available.
It's defenitly worth restoring this car. It's not bad undeerneath at all. A couple of hours of restoring and welding and resealing and it's good to go for an other decade. Seat and dashboard looks fine as well. Just go all in for it! Put some new pipes for the engine inlets. The chrome is gone on those. But other than that it looks solid and worth saving.
Very much depends on the engine! If its a runner then save it. Would do that oil cooler though. Mine looked OK until I touched that pipe at the bottom. Surface rust was the only thing keeping the oil in 😆
Not a,full on resto more of a,recommission for the road. Its far far from a basket case.....id save it. What is it with fiat/alfa paints and lacquers of this era???? That peeling is terrible! The cambelt repaint and welding should be done then the owner can slowly do all the other little jobs over time......
Compared to a lot of them this looks to be a fairly easy straightforward refurbishment rather than a restoration. I think the owner should go ahead and get it sorted.
As many Busso engined car should be saved, they are the best sounding V6 out there, I have fond memories of my 75 when the exhaust snapped it took me a while to fix it. Someone's put some effort into protecting this GT so would be a shame to let it go, yes there's a bit of work to do but is worth it. Why does the red Alfa Romeo lacker fail more than any other colour? Make it happen Niel.
Kudos to the previous owner who undersealed this car during its life - it's definitely weathered the British winters well. Definitely a candidate for a full resto.
Interesting they added those longitudal braces to the subframe on the 916. They’re not there on the Fiat Coupe. (I did put these on my Fiat, made the front end notacibly more rigid feeling)
My heart tells me to fully restore it with a good sized budget that should enable a good respray, engine works not scrimped and there is the issue. Whats it worth after restoration. If its a keeper then it is priceless, if the current owner wants to sell it then break even is going to be a challenge. If its going to be the best one around then do it. Otherwise its a great parts donor.
Even though the bootlid is from a different example, this one had originally a factory-fitted aero kit. 3221 Phase 2a 3.0 GTVs, mostly Lusso trim. Rather rare as RHD and with factory aero. Colour and interior rather common. 6-speed?
As always one has to reserve ones judgement until the underside has been checked. In that respect the best way to work on an Alfa seems to be to lay it on it's back like a tortus. If only that would be practical. :-)
Definitely worth saving in my view: the body is mostly solid, it's a V6, the interior (what's there, at least) seems in great shape... Will cost a pretty penny putting it all right, but it is a desirable car whose value is only going one way in the future. Do it! :)
Definitely worth saving, classic colour and interior combo, and the values of these GTV V6s are only going up.
I agree, this is most def worth saving! The rust is usually the death of these cars. This example appears OK in regards to such!
A beautiful Alfa without rust which worth saving.
That is definitely a keeper. Underside is in really good shape apart from what you pointed out. Definitely repair and restore it.
Brilliant video Neil 👍she needs to be saved far to many classics get scrapped I'm glad you are on my favourite UA-camr
That car definetely deserves a new lease of life Neill👍
Definitely worth saving.....lovely car
All day long that's a keeper and a great project. No major rot to deal with.
Love to see that baby back on the road Neil, and can't wait!
Looks like a solid base for restoration.
great video, yes a definite restore for me, you don't see many of these cars on the road and love that v6 sound... hopefully mine gets done this year and I can show you to see what you think...
Definitely worth saving 👌
Definitely restore it. Wish I still had mine.
Most definitely needs restoration that's a keeper and with a 30v6 come on that's got to live to see many days
I’m definitely in the “get it restored’ camp - a bit of welding and a nice paint job and assuming no nasties lurking in the engine department, it will look the biz. Another good video Neil.
It's a keeper for sure

Like the most said here - save it, the car ist worth it. Less rust than thought - that´s the key to do it.
Definitely repair not as bad as others I’ve seen and they are getting rare to find now
Really good underneath apart from that jacking point, I'd certainly spend money on it.
sure did. thanks for being here.
Definitely needs saving Neil, car looks very well looked after apart from the paint and slight accident damage.
Fairly solid underneath, definitely worth a few quid to get it back on the road 🙂👍
Fix up. Most of what needs doing are just consumables. Immediately, rear shock and a bit of welding. Then clean up underneath. Brakes, and exhaust can wait until required (OK, pretty soon probably)
Definitely restore it and put the right 5 hole alloys on it.

Nice Alfa with a lot of potential,👍🇲🇰

And that's before even delving into the engine bay, where stuff has been messed with. Yes, it can be restored, but the cost varies so much depending on what you can do by yourself.
Definite restoration. Especially if it was here in South Africa
Absolutely it should be restored. Looks better than many other cars you have had in the garage as it's still really solid 🙂
I would say a keeper well worth to restore! 👍
In very decent shape for its age. A paintjob and some general recommissioning and detail work should see it right again for a good few years to come. 👍
Go for it. Rust is the Alfa killer and this one has very little. Everything else can be dealt with.
Rust affects all cars in the UK. Alfas are no worse than any other these days, in fact since about 1987 when they got their act together.
I agree. When I bought my GTV V6 in '19 there wasn't much serious corrosion. I've undertaken to stabilise the bodywork and like you said, everything else can be dealt with. Time to get the spanners out again......😁
Nice one, do Hamerite and then Seal it , I have done my 147 it's like New now for years.
I'd vote restore. A wonderful car, fantastic colour combination. Becoming ever rarer. (Especially so in your capable hands)
Hi Neil, overall, I think the car is in good shape, aside from the rusty sill. Sure, the paintwork needs doing, but that's mainly cosmetic. The shocks & brakes are tired & need replacing too, but they're all normal service items anyway.

Good for parts, that's it.
These cars are incredible
I'd like to it be restored!
Most definitely worth saving, the issues are pretty minor tbh
Very much depends on the engine! If its a runner then save it. Would do that oil cooler though. Mine looked OK until I touched that pipe at the bottom. Surface rust was the only thing keeping the oil in 😆
It seems to be in overall good condition, so worth restoring. Personally, I would remove the boot spoiler and put back the original wheels.
Yes save it, there is not too much rust and with a proper recommission/service would be a keeper.
Looks like a really solid car. Once painted, there's not exactly thousands to spend, so it has to be restored.
Not a,full on resto more of a,recommission for the road. Its far far from a basket case.....id save it. What is it with fiat/alfa paints and lacquers of this era???? That peeling is terrible!

Definitely save it well worth it
Go for it!
Defo restore & save it 👍🏻
Kudos to the previous owner who undersealed this car during its life - it's definitely weathered the British winters well. Definitely a candidate for a full resto.
You’d just have to. Underside isn’t a shocker.
Interesting they added those longitudal braces to the subframe on the 916. They’re not there on the Fiat Coupe. (I did put these on my Fiat, made the front end notacibly more rigid feeling)
Absolutely restore it, will be worth every penny, even if it's a bit of a fixer upper at the moment...
My heart tells me to fully restore it with a good sized budget that should enable a good respray, engine works not scrimped and there is the issue. Whats it worth after restoration. If its a keeper then it is priceless, if the current owner wants to sell it then break even is going to be a challenge.

Save it, looks decent underneath
Worth doing due to being relatively rust free for an old Alfa but what's it worth all done and good
Definitely worth saving, I'm sure you've shown us far worse on here. Hope the customer goes ahead with the restoration.
Doesn’t look too bad to be fair. Will be lovey when it’s saved
Save it!.. No question.
Even though the bootlid is from a different example, this one had originally a factory-fitted aero kit. 3221 Phase 2a 3.0 GTVs, mostly Lusso trim. Rather rare as RHD and with factory aero. Colour and interior rather common. 6-speed?
Please restore, It's worth saving, so few left, it will be worth a fortune in 10 or less years!
Definitely save it.
On the basis that it doesn’t look too corroded at all underneath then surely it worth saving, especially if the customer is already “into” it for ££
Definitely restore i have a brera day want rid of as i fancy a GTV
Ever done work on Alfetta GTV or GTV6??
This one should live to fight another day, it's well worth saving Neil.
Lifting platform incorrectly positioned at the front! That's why the bottom edge is often demolished...
A car many would be interested in saving I am sure.
As always one has to reserve ones judgement until the underside has been checked. In that respect the best way to work on an Alfa seems to be to lay it on it's back like a tortus. If only that would be practical. :-)
All Alfa Romeo's deserve to be restored, they are the only cars with soul.
Being as I am an Alfa restoration Shop in the US, I would say, "Don't Bin It!!". Heavy Metal Alfa
It's being resoted.
Each Busso must be restored. There is no rust so let's the work start!
Looks savable
I would want to hear the engine run before making a decision, even though there is a risk with the cambelt.
Not sure you are going to find a better example for restoration. The only serious rot seems to be the sill.
You can make youself the most work to restore it, considering the value of the mythical V6 iis worth.
Just restore it! There is nothink to think about really.
Hi save it it's in good condition 👍
Nice colour, not to much rust. Its a cat worth saving. And there aren't to many around ..
Car
Please save it 😎❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
With not too much investment this could give years of fun. Restore it.
It’s in rosso red, tan interior and a v6 so of course you have to restore it👍
It’s too good to scrap for parts, just needs a bit of TLC and a paint job.
A keeper….
Absoltely worth being restored.
Save it.
Looks doable - restore for me
The body shouldn't be that hard of a job compared to the turbocharged Punto. In any case never throw away a Busso V6, especially if it is working.
Every single GTV V6 should be restored (y)
I click the vid just to say, “Yes, to restoring it” 😂
Would £4-5k cover all the restoration? If the customer is happy with that , yeah have done 👍
Cambelt service first...if the engine is peachy refurbish it... lovely car hiding there
Nothing really wrong with the car. Just needs some proper maintanance, little bit of rust repair and new paint.
There is nothing to think here. Restore it.
Save it Neil, could have been a lot worse
Anything that have Busso in it, should be restored. They are a dying bread.
