@Lara Gravenor Definitely. Sometimes this distinction can be extra challenging radiologically. Trauma to the breast that results in fat necrosis can create lesions in the breast that can mimic cancer radiologically. Adequate sampling of the mass for histology and immunohistochemical analysis should allow the pathologist to distinguish fat necrosis from carcinoma.
