It's Martin Scorsese's 80th Birthday! I'd like to say I made this video intentionally for the occassion, but it's one of those magical coincidences.
Happy Birthday Marty! Thanks for all the great cinema!
Great video
Great clips
And examples
And analysis
Come back
2:35 Martin sitting there watching Cybill Shepherd walk by. I know he shows up later as a passenger but I never noticed him before in that scene.
It's a real blink and you'll miss it scene
I hope Scorsese keeps making movies for 80 more years.
From the movie Shane.
Shane:
You speaking to me?
Chris Calloway:
I don't see nobody else standing there.
Taxi Driver: It is not just a movie, but a journey, a journey that starts from oblivion and then eventual leads to paranoia.
The way the decorated actor has played the role is just phenomenal, the movie itself is an era lived either maybe too much or maybe too less.
I saw Taxi Driver in the cinema last night, what a great experience!
Where can you see this film in cinema?
Where can you see this film in cinema?
@@user-dv6zd9zl2w some cinemas played it because of Martin Scorsese's 80th birthday.
@@ChrisLeoThomas Wow,that was great.Have some of his other films been played?
@@user-dv6zd9zl2w not really. They didn’t even play The Irishman back when it came out, had to go to a different cinema to see that one. But whenever I have the chance to see a Scorsese film in the cinema, I always go for it.
Happy birthday, Master Scorsese!!!
Take a look at a short movie by Jovan Jovanovic called Izrazito ja (1969). It has the same elements, and some shots as taxi driver, as driving through city, revolver etc.. it was much more of an influence than any of movies you listed.
Wow really?

watch this two movies by jovan jovanovic, and look for yourself is it really...
your writing is very good
Hey buddy.. you actually missed the real elephant in the room, Satyajit ray’s Abhijan (1962)..
this film was the whole synopsis of the Taxi driver.
Are you the dad from My Big Fat Greek Wedding?
In his new book, Tarantino said he believes Travis is lying about being a vet, but I forget why 😅
I would like to watch the films mentioned here, I wish I had more time like I had when I was in my 20s and was a huge cinephile :)
I'd say The Last Waltz is my favorite Scorsese film, and The King of Comedy as well
I know one: the underrated film noir Murder By Contract (1958).
Great video. New to your channel. Happy bday Marty!
To me Raging Bull is Scorsese's best film, but Taxi Driver is second
Merry Christmas.
Make more Scorsese videos plz😍😍😋😎!
i've been struggling to understand objectivity in art lately and i'm trying to get help from people. i've been trying to stray off from "objectivity" in art, as many youtubers makes it feel like it is "the truth" or "the greatest" and i have been brushing it off as some asshole who thinks their opinion is better than anyone else. i really want to know what "objectivity" is in art and does it have place in it? if it does, then how?. it's been bugging my mind for so long now and i've been studying filmmaking religiously for 8 years now
I'd say in cinema it's the difference between looking and gazing. Objectivity is the view in a room, from the fly on the wall. Subjectivity is following the gaze of a person, what they choose to look at.
@@uninstaller2860 i get that, but in critizism, many people say that it's "objectively" good or bad, as some sort of in touch with the god of critizism itself or they know every persons tastes in the world and therefor can say what is good or what is bad
